James was not at all sure about this whole manor thing. He'd been thinking of a small country house or something to raise their kids in. Somewhere like his grandparents place. Not a whole manor. James was still not sold on the idea of living in the manor, but he nodded, trying not to think about the things Cepheus's grandmother had seen about them in the paper. Hopefully she hadn't watched the tape of him trying to get into Cepheus's trousers in a lift. "That doesn't sound so bad," he said. "I thought it would be loftier than that."

"We haven't decided anything yet. It's just on the table." Cepheus linked his fingers with James's and stood up. "I can show him around, Grandmum. We'll be done in time for dinner."

He leaned down and kissed her cheek. "I'll make sure he sees the gardens so he knows how much work you put into them." He led James to the staircase and started up them. "You don't have to agree to live here."

James followed Cepheus up the stairs and shrugged. "It's not that bad," he said. "I like your grandmother a lot. She's funny, and it's obvious she likes you as much as my grandmother likes you."

He stopped at the top of the stairs and pushed open the room where he played most as a kid. "This was mine and Scorpius's play room when we were really small. This is considered the children's wing because it's close. We could put a nursery here."
