Bruno was coming home from the hospital and Charlotte had spent all day cleaning the house and making sure everything was nice for him when he got back. She'd even made dinner, which sort of made her feel like she was trying to be his little wife or something, but at least she'd made sure to get her homework and everything done first. And to clear the google image search for Jaden's magazine shoots from her browser history.

When Bertie sat up on the couch and started barking at the door, Charlotte grinned and scooped him up, walking to the door and opening it before Bruno could try. "You're home!"

	Bruno was nervous about being out, but that was normal. He was just afraid he'd have another relapse and he'd lose Charlotte forever. But, he was better. He was going to be fine. "Not as much as I missed you," Charlotte said, looking up at Bruno and kissing his chin. It felt good to be held by him again. She kind of wondered what his therapy said about sex with her. She was different. "Careful. Don't crush Bertie. He's our lovechild."

She pulled back so she could show Bruno the dog, who was panting and wagging his little tail, looking up at him. "This is Bertie. I got him to help protect me while you were gone."

Charlotte nodded, leading Bruno into the kitchen, where the food was laid out on the table. "I made dinner," she said. "Porkchops and cheesy potatoes and some beans even though I know you probably won't eat the beans."

She sat and put Bertie in her lap, kissing the top of his head. "Don't let Daddy fool you, baby. Mummy loves you just as much as always," she promised, and then put him down on the ground. "I'm really happy you're home, Bruno. I missed you so much."

	Bruno grinned at Charlotte. "My father is Walden Macnair. You're lucky I'll eat the pork chops." He pointed out as he took a seat at the table, picking up a fork. "I'm happy to be home. "I'll cook for you all week," Charlotte promised, smiling at Bruno. "And every weekend. I did all my homework in advance so I wouldn't have to be distracted with other things while you were here."

She took a sip of her water, then got to her feet. "I bought beer in case you wanted one. I just remembered. I was thinking maybe we'd have a welcome home party for you and invite everyone over soon, if you wanted to? You could catch up with them. Cepheus and James are engaged now and so are Albus and Scorpius. It's crazy."

	Bruno planned to propose to Charlotte, but now he felt like maybe he shouldn't. Not with the way she'd said that. He smiled at her and nodded as he took another bite. "Yeah. We should have a party." Charlotte nodded. "I know what you mean," she said, opening the fridge and grabbing a drink for Bruno, setting it in front of him and taking her seat again. "I haven't really seen anyone that much. They've all been caught up with their own thing."

She shrugged. "I guess college ended and everyone started on their own life plans or whatever. Jaden and Jude, it's kind of obvious why I haven't seen much of them. Albus and the Malfoys have just been caught up in their own drama, I guess."

Charlotte laughed. "Everyone always brings that up," she said. "I don't want a prince anymore. I just want you. You're all I've ever needed, Bruno. I thought I made it pretty clear how I felt for you."

She reached out and brushed their fingers together. "I love you. I don't know. I think Cepheus and Scorpius and Albus might all be rushing into marriage, but I want to get married eventually. That hasn't changed."

"School's good," Charlotte said, nodding. "I joined a couple of clubs and I got a job at a coffee shop on campus. It's only part-time, but I like the people I work with. They're nice."

She smiled at Bruno. "I miss my old friends, but I'm working on making new ones. Econ 101 is really hard. I don't know why I thought it would be easy, but I have to work my butt off. I'm glad I'm taking classes here and not in Edinburgh though."

"Well, he is our lovechild," Charlotte said, looking down at Bertie's big eyes and laughing. "Sometimes I put him in my purse. I've taken him to school a couple times. I feel like he'd get lonely at home."

She bent down and picked up Berti, putting him in her lap and feeding him some of her pork chop. "He's such a good little boy. I bet he'd like a bassinet. He's so spoiled already."
