Pansy was groggy and sore. Her stomach kind of hurt and she didn't know what to do or how to move. But, she could see someone walking around her bed and could hear them do something. She opened one eye slowly and looked at the man moving around, checking the cords that were attached to her.

And that's when she remembered what happened. She made a miserable noise, eyes focusing on the orderly Luka. "What are you doing?" She asked, her voice sounding like Satan. "Just let me die."

Luka looked down at Pansy and sighed when she woke up and started moaning. She sounded like death. He poured a glass of water for her, moving to the side of her bed and holding it out. "You should drink," he said.

Luka had been worried about Pansy since he found her and had asked to be able to work on the third floor until she was out of danger. He wanted to keep an eye on her. "You scared us."

"I wasn't trying to scare you. I was trying to die." Pansy looked at the water for a moment, then sighed and turned so that her face was in the pillow. She closed her eyes, trying to smother herself for a moment before she looked back at Luka.

"Shouldn't you be on the other floor?" She asked, her voice still quiet. "Aren't you more worried about Pyxis?"

"I know what you were trying to do," Luka said. He sighed and reached out, brushing hair from Pansy's face. "Drink some water. It'll help you feel a little bit better. I promise."

He held the glass up to Pansy's lips and shrugged. "Pyxis will be okay. I asked to work here until they were sure you were stable. I'm the one who found you. I guess you can blame me for waking up."

"Well. I hate you." Pansy informed him and sighed, taking a drink of the water. She closed her eyes for a moment as the water slid down into her belly and then grumbled.

"I feel like I'm going to be sick." She told him quietly and then reached out to touch his hand. "I feel really alone in here. In this place."

"I'm here right now," Luka said, putting the glass of water down and touching her forehead. He leaned down and grabbed a bucket for her. "I have this for you, if you throw up. You'll be okay."

He sat back, running a hand through his hair. "If you feel lonely you're supposed to tell Walden or Snape about it. I thought you'd made friends with Draco. He doesn't really have friends."

"The last thing I want to do is puke in front of the very attractive orderly." Pansy told him and then took a deep breath, her eyes slipping shut briefly before she told herself she needed to sit up.

She looked at Luka for a moment, holding onto her stomach. "They're never going to let me on the other floor again. I'm never going to get out of here. I was so stupid."

Luka laughed a little when Pansy called him attractive. "I've been puked on enough times that it doesn't phase me anymore," he promised her. "And usually it's by girls who aren't as pretty as you."

Luka shook his head. "You'd be surprised at what people over-come, Pansy. Before I started working here, I was depressed too. I used to play football professionally and I injured myself and ended my career. I thought it was all I had to live for, so... I ended up in a hospital like this. I came back from it. You can too. But right now you should probably concentrate on getting back to the second floor, which isn't even that hard. Luna had been up here before. Draco skipped a floor when he got here, did he tell you that? He went from the first floor all the way up here before he got put back in the second. Once Radley recovered enough to be mobile and not too fragile they put him on the second floor. If Luna, Draco, and Radley can do it, so can you. I promise."

Pansy liked that Luka called her pretty. She tucked a bit of hair behind her ear and smiled at him, then reached out and took his hand into her own. Other than Bill and Lucy, Luka was the first person to be nice to her since she'd gotten there.

"Do you really think that?" Pansy asked as her fingers brushed over his palm. "I want to get out of here. I don't have anything to look forward to when I do. I'm going to leave the man who put me here."

"If you decide you really don't want to be with your boyfriend when you get out of here, then I think you have lots to look forward to," Luka told Pansy. "You have a whole world of possibilities. You can do whatever you want. You just have to figure out what that is."

He shrugged. "I thought I'd never find something other than football that made me feel like I had purpose in life, but I did. I got this job because I wanted to help people. I'm sure you'll think of something. I can help you if you want help with it." Luka was a bit worried about Pansy holding his hand, but she probably just needed someone to keep her steady right now.

Pansy did need someone to keep her steady. Mentally. Luka was there and he was being nice to her. She smiled softly at him and shrugged, resting back against her pillows.

"I won't really have anywhere to go. My parents won't let me come home. I'll have to find a job." Pansy pointed out. "Maybe they'll put me in a half-way house."

"When you talk to Snape next you can ask him about it," Luka told Pansy. "The hospital has a lot of resources at its disposal. If you take advantage of them, they can really help you."

Luka squeezed her hand gently. "Do you think you can try drinking a little more water?"

Pansy glanced at their hands and sighed softly. "I don't know. My stomach hurts already from the little bit of water I've already drank. Just.. don't try and make me eat anything."

She ran a hand through her hair and then closed her eyes, letting go of Luka's hand. "I don't want to be here anymore."

"I don't want you to be here either," Luka told Pansy, leaving his hand where it was, even if she'd let go of it. "I want you to be out and healthy again. I'm not going to make you eat, don't worry."

He looked her over for a moment. "Do you want to play a game? I can get checkers or chess. Or put in a video for you to watch."

"I don't know." Pansy looked at the television in her room for a moment and sighed. She didn't know what she wanted to do. She had wanted to die. It had sounded like a good plan when she'd thought it through.

"Will you watch it with me?" Pansy asked him quietly. "I don't want to be alone right now. At all."

"Of course," Luka said, smiling at Pansy. He reached out and touched her hand for a moment. "I'm not going to leave you alone, don't worry." He was supposed to be watching her anyway, so he couldn't leave her alone. "What do you --" He stopped when there was a knock on the door and then a concerned looking man in an expensive suit walked in.

"Pansy?" Theodore Nott was at his fiancee's side quickly, taking her hand in his own. "I came as soon as the hospital would let me see you. I've been so worried."

Pansy tore her eyes from Luka to look at Theodore. What was he doing there? She stared at him blankly for a moment, looking him over, then touched the lapel of his suit. She smiled a tight smile at him.

"What are you doing here, Theodore?" Pansy asked, letting her hand drop.

Theodore leaned in and brushed their lips together, kissing Pansy softly and then touching his cheek. "I came to see you," he said. "They told me you tried to kill yourself. I was devastated. I wanted to come right away, but they said I had to wait for you to recover enough for visitors."

He ran his fingers through her hair. "I've been worried sick about you."

"Why would you be worried about me?" Pansy asked as she stared coldly at Theodore. She turned her eyes away from him and shook her head, picking at her nails nervously. "You're the reason I'm in this place. The reason I feel like no one cares about me. You told me you loved me and then shoved me in a mental institution. How was I supposed to want to live after that?"

"I do love you, Pansy. You're only here because you needed help." Theodore frowned a little, touching her hand. "You don't eat anything. You believe what your mother says about you being too fat. I just want you to be healthy before we get married. I only put you here because I love you."

"If you loved me, you would have helped me yourself." Pansy looked at Theodore, beginning to tear up. "You would have told me I was beautiful and that you loved me and that you wanted to help me yourself. But, instead, you made me someone else's problem so you didn't have to be around me."

"No, Pansy. I did tell you those things and you never believed me," Theodore said, shaking his head. "So I asked you about the hospital and I told you why I thought it was a good idea for you to get help here and you agreed with me. You're here because they have doctors who can help you."

"Are you her doctor?" Theo asked, looking Luka over. He doubted doctors had hair like that. He hoped they didn't here, anyway. He looked at Pansy. "I can't take you out until they say it's all right for you to be released from here. You have to get better before they let you go."

"I'm an orderly here," Luka told Theodore. "And I'm Pansy's friend. I'm not sure you thought about what you were doing before you put her in here."

Pansy looked at Theodore and started to cry. She reached up and covered her face with her hands and began to sob into them, unable to breathe. She thought she may be having a panic attack.

"I just want to be loved." She told him. "And you shoved me in here."

Theodore looked at Luka, bewildered. He had no idea what he was supposed to do now. "I do love you," he told Pansy, frowning a little as he touched her shoulder. "Don't be stupid, Pansy."

Luka frowned at Theodore and moved to sit on the bed beside Pansy, being careful of her IV and her heart monitor as he pulled her into his lap, rubbing her back. "You're okay," he promised her, voice soft. "You just need to beathe, Pansy. You're going to be okay."

"You probably shouldn't call her stupid." Pyxis informed her brother as she stood in the doorway. She frowned at the way that Luka was holding Pansy, but that was a different matter for a different day. "I was told you were here."

Pansy leaned against Luka and hid her face into his neck, still crying. "I'm sorry." She told him between gasps for air.

Theodore turned to look at Pyxis and sighed. He didn't really want to see his sister, but Pansy was too upset to communicate with him right now. "I'll be back," he told the orderly holding her, and then left the room, leading Pyxis out of it. "What's wrong now?"

Luka shook his head, petting Pansy's hair. "Don't apologise," he said. "None of this is your fault. You'll feel better after you cry."

"What do you mean, what's wrong?" Pyxis asked as she looked at her brother. "Are you serious? You locked your girlfriend in here and then she got raped by a psychopath."

Pansy leaned against Luka's chest and rubbed at it. "No. I just... I don't want him here. I don't know what to do."

"She -- raped?" Theodore frowned. "Nobody told me that. If that's the kind of care they're offering here I'm sure I can get her out." He looked back at the door to the room, then at Pyxis. "I meant what was wrong with you. You don't talk to me."

"I can tell him you're too upset to see him, if that's what you want," Luka offered, looking down at Pansy when she started to rub his chest. "I can ask him to leave."

"Taking her out isn't going to make her better. I thin she's so miserable because you put her in here to begin with." Pyxis pointed out and then looked over her brother. "I don't talk to you because I'm in here too."

Pansy shook her head. "I don't know." She looked up at him sadly. "I'm... He was good to me. I don't know why I'm being this way with him."

"Yes, but it's not like you write or phone us or anything either," Theodore pointed out. "Narcissa Malfoy says she writes letters with her crazy son all the time. Well, she doesn't call him crazy, but for Lucius Malfoy to admit to putting his son away he must have had a spectacular breakdown first. I wish he'd done it while we were at school together."

"Maybe it's not you who's being this way. Maybe you're pushing him away because of the way your disease makes you feel," Luka said, running his fingers through Pansy's hair to soothe her as he looked down at her. "But if he really loves you, then he's going to be willing to wait for you to be ready for him."

Pansy looked up at Luka and sighed softly. "I want to go home." She told him, then closed her eyes and fell back against her pillows. "I've gained so much weight here my mother would punish me."

Theodore frowned at Pyxis. "Of course not," he said. "I love Pansy. I don't care about the Malfoys. If they get taken down a peg or two, that's their business. I'm here because I love her. I'm going to marry her."

"You've gained a few pounds. You're on your way to being healthy again," Luka said, shaking his head. "Don't think about your weight. Worry about your mind. Worry about being healthy again so you can get out of here for good."

"Fine," Theodore said. He paused, looking his sister over. "You seem better," he told her. "Not as... whatever you were before. You want me to send you anything from outside?"

"You're welcome," Luka said, smiling at Pansy. "And don't be fooled, Pansy. Everyone who works here is working here because they care. Except maybe Mason. His dad doesn't like him being a musician."

"New clothes." Pyxis looked at her brother for a moment, then chewed her bottom lip. "Send things that I like and send me something more... posh. I want to try and look nice sometimes."

Pansy laughed at that. "He probably has a complex and needs to be in here too, yeah?" She asked, looking Luka over. She lay back against her pillows and sighed. "Everything hurts."

"Okay," Theo agreed, shrugging. "Trashy clothes and decent things for you to wear when you feel like being decent. I've got it." He looked his sister over. "Do you think Pansy needs anything? Clothes? Books?"

"Everyone's at least a little bit crazy," Luka told Pansy, smiling at her a bit. "There's more than one orderly who's developed feelings for a patient. It's a bit of a job hazard." He shifted to sit beside Pansy on the bed, so he wasn't taking up too much room. "That's what happens when you put your body through all that stress."

"Pansy needs you to visit her more often than you do." Pyxis told her brother and shrugged. "Maybe send her presents sometimes to let her know you still love her. You're really bad with women. I swear you're gay."

"Orderlies fancy some of the patients?" Pansy asked and then shrugged. "I suppose you fancy Pyxis, then. You're always spending time with her." She sighed. "I don't want to hurt."

Theodore frowned at Pyxis. "I'm not gay. I love Pansy. I'm going to be a better boyfriend for her from now on. You can't say I'm gay just because I'm busy with work. I'll send her some presents an visit more often. She'll be happier."

"Not every orderly, but a lot of them do, yes," Luka said. He did fancy Pyxis, but he knew it was inappropriate to say so. "Charlie fancies Thoreau, which is dangerous for both of them." He took Pansy's hand in his again and squeezed it gently. "I don't want you to be hurt either. Just give it a few days and your muscles will feel a lot better."

Pansy nodded slowly and glanced at the door briefly before she looked at Luka. She rested her head and took his hand into her own again, fingers brushing over it. She only wanted to be close to someone again. It didn't matter who it was. "I don't think he's coming back." She told Luka quietly. "He must hate me."

"I'm sure he doesn't hate you," Luka told Pansy, sighing as he looked down at her. "Maybe he's just having a long conversation with his sister." Although given that Pyxis didn't get along with her family, that seemed doubtful.

Theo walked back into the room, trying not to frown when he saw Pansy cuddled up to the huge orderly. "I don't hate you," he told Pansy, catching the end of their conversation. "I was just getting a list of things Pyxis wants me to send her." He moved to the side of the bed not taken up by the giant and leaned in to kiss Pansy softly. "I love you. I want you to get better."

Pansy looked back at Theodore. She wasn't sure how she felt about the kiss. "You never told me that your sister was in here." She pointed out and then sighed softly, pulling away from Luka. "Why haven't you come to see me?"

"Pyxis and I never really got along. She's why I knew about this place, though. My parents think it's helping her." Theo reached up, pushing some of Pansy's hair off her forehead. "I should have come and seen you sooner. I know that now. And I'm sorry that I haven't. I'm not very good at being a fiance."

"When the doctors say it's all right, I'll take you home," Theodore promised. He ran his thumb over Pansy's cheek. "I want you to come home too. I want us to get married and have all the things we want to have. You're already looking a lot better. You'll be out of here before you know it. I'll come visit a lot more often."
