Lucy stepped into the common room and smiled when she saw Pyxis, walking over and dropping into the seat next to her. "So tell me everything I've missed," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear. Their hair was pretty much the only thing she and the other Lucy agreed on. Lucy hated pastels and the girly things the other Lucy liked. Especially Cinderella. She liked Star Wars and rock music and heavy eyeliner, skimpy clothes, and high shoes. Which didn't mean other people could make fun of the other Lucy. Lucy was very protective of her.

"In your life, I mean. It's been fucking forever since I've been out. Do you have any fags, or do I have to go bum them off Rider?" she asked, crossing her legs as she played with a hole in the thigh of her sheer, black stockings.

Pyxis hadn't seen this side of Lucy in a while. She smiled at her and reached out, touching her friend. "God. I can't believe that you're finally out of there. I thought I'd have to deal with the other one forever."

She smiled. "I don't have any fags. And Rider got his confiscated this morning." She shrugged. "You haven't missed much. Lucy has a little boyfriend now."

"Don't say it like that. She's my responsbility, you know. She doesn't know what she's doing." Lucy grinned at Pyxis. "I'm better at keeping track of some things than Lucy is. Plus, she keeps a diary and I read it when I wake up."

Lucy made a face. "Of course he got them confiscated. He -- wait." She frowned. "Lucy has a boyfriend? Who? She didn't write anything about a boyfriend. Who the fuck does he think he is? She's like a child."

Pyxis laughed at that. "They're not really dating. But they've been very touchy with each other." She told her and then glanced around the room. She pointed at the boy across the way.

"That's him." She told her. "His name is Radley Macnair. Tried to kill himself."

"Of course Lucy decided to get touchy with someone who's suicidal. She's such a fucking idiot sometimes." She kissed Pyxis and then stood up. "I need to go make sure he knows what he's dealing with." This was probably why she was here anyway. To protect Lucy from herself again.

Lucy walked over to the overly-large boy and sat next to him on the couch. "I hear you're getting touchy with Lucy."

Radley glanced up from doing the puzzle that he and Lucy had been working on. He looked over Lucy, who was now her other self, and nodded. Surely she couldn't be too bad.

"Yes. That's me." Radley told her and then held out his hand. "I'm Radley. I've heard about you in group. It's nice to meet you."

She looked him over critically. "Do you want to fuck her?" she asked. "Is that it?"

Radley stared at Lucy for a moment and then shook his head, letting his hand drop. "No. I had no intention of sleeping with her. Lucy is a sweet girl and I thought the two of us could be friends."

He pointed at the puzzle. "I was waiting for her to come help me finish the puzzle. Some of the pieces aren't organized yet."

"Are you gay?" Lucy asked. "Is that why you tried to kill yourself? Because you like boys?" She crossed her arms over her chest. "It's my job to protect her. She's like a kid. I don't let people mess with her. I don't care if you're a big man, I'll make you regret hurting her if you do."

She glanced down at the puzzle and then frowned. "Fuck, is she still doing that? We're never going to get out of here if she doesn't stop obsessing over stupid little things."

"I just wanted to be her friend. No reason to get defensive. Maybe you're doing her more harm than good by being so over protective." Radley pointed out, looking her over and frowning.

He shook his head. "It helps with the puzzle doing, when you have all the same colours together. We've nearly finished this together."

"I'm protecting her. I've been protecting her for years. You think one or two of her mum's boyfriends didn't think about getting handsy with her? I'm the one who was there to keep them away," Lucy informed Radley. "Whatever she told you isn't the full story because I make sure she's safe and she doesn't know anything she doesn't need to know."

Lucy looked Radley over again, then turned to the puzzle pieces and started sorting them out by colour. "If you're going to be her friend, we're going to have to set up some rules and boundaries."

"Rules and boundries?" Radley asked as he looked back at Lucy, arching a brow. She was kind of cute, all painted up like a two-pence hooker. He smiled at her and then snorted.

"What are your rules?" He asked he. "Stay out of the same room and don't even look at her?"

"Just because I'm protective of her doesn't mean I'm not going to let people be her friend," Lucy informed Radley. She pushed hair out of her face, sorting through puzzle pieces. "I have friends. Pyxis is my friend. I get along better with Rider than anybody else in this place. Thoreau is my friend and he gets along okay with Lucy, which doesn't happen often."

She looked up at Radley. "She likes him because he's pretty. I like him because he knows I'll cut his dick off if he tries to get in her knickers. We need rules and boundries so I know I can trust you with Lucy. Think about me like her protective sister. You seem okay. Nicer than Rider, for sure. Saner too. My rules are negotiable. You can be her friend if you want, but I don't want you mixing signals on her. Her heart stays intact. She's fragile."

Radley shook his head and sighed. "Look. I'm not looking for sex. Not right now. I'm not really looking for a relationship either. I've had a pretty shite life and I wouldn't want to enter anything with anyone, especially someone I may hurt."

He ran a hand over his head and sat back from the puzzle. "I just thought that Lucy was nice. And not very crazy. Not like Rider and Pyxis. I just wanted to be her friend."

Lucy glanced at Radley again. "Okay," she said. "I believe you. You don't want to fuck her. Do you still want to be her friend, even though you know she's crazier than Pyxis? Not as crazy as Rider, though. Not by a long shot."

She leaned back on the couch. "Lucy and I probably aren't ever getting out of here. She doesn't believe that, but I know it's true. I'm not going away. They've had her on at least a dozen different types of medication to try and make me go away and they don't work. Inevitably, I come back. So unless Lucy has someone on the outside who can handle her having multiple personalities, she's fucked. It doesn't matter how under control she gets her eating disorder or her OCD. And they only person she has out there is her mother, who really doesn't give a shit. You should know that if you're going to be her friend."

Lucy still wasn't sure she believed or trusted Radley, but if he was the kind of person who hurt himself, how bad could he be? "Okay," she agreed, after a moment more of scrutiny. "We can try. What are you here for? Besides trying to kill yourself, I mean. What's your diagnosis?"

Radley hesitated and then shrugged. He moved his eyes over Lucy. "I'm in for bipolar disorder." He told her. "They've got me on three or four different meds. One of them makes me sleep walk."

"Well, that's fun," Lucy laughed. "They had Lucy on meds once that made me come out every time she went to sleep. It was an awful couple of weeks." Bipolar disorder wasn't so bad. "As long as you don't sleep naked. Who's your roommate?"

Lucy laughed, looking around the room to see if Malfoy was there. "Fuck," she said, shaking her head. "I don't envy you one bit. I know Lucy's got a new roommate, but I haven't met her yet. I think Malfoy's disorder is that he's high maintenence. I know technically he's got one of the same diagnoses as Pyxis, but unofficially. He's a drama queen."

Malfoy's here because he was fucking some old guy and after the split up he got depressed and then drunk and caused a scene of some sort. I don't know the details. We don't exactly get along. I'm not sure Malfoy gets along with anyone, actually."
