Draco wasn't used to being out of the hospital yet. He still woke up early and slept lightly, as if some nurse or orderly was going to open his door and shine a light in, loudly whispering that they were doing checks. He'd gone outside every day so far, even though it was a bit cold and wet outside, just because he could. And also because Pansy was really loud when Luka was over and Draco really didn't need to sit around and listen to it.

Now, though, he was dressed in some of the old, nice clothes that his mother had brought him, sitting in a restaurant and playing with his fork while he waited for Tom and his son to show up. He couldn't see this being anything but awkward, and he really wasn't used to being in fancy restaurants anymore, but it was nice to get away from Luka and Pansy and their canoodling.

"You barely know me," Draco pointed out, watching Merlin boss the wait-staff around. He looked at the other boy and smiled. "Would you really want me to stay with you? You don't think I'd be intruding?"

He finished his own glass of champagne and let the girl refill it. "I would like to go back to school. All I did in the hospital was read and play chess. Maybe I'd change and concentrate on English instead of History this time."

"I don't think you'd be a bother. Unless you're a slob, but I have a maid for that." Merlin told him with a shrug. He snorted. "I barely lead an exciting life. I never bring anyone home. I don't know how to cook so you'd be guaranteed a meal out every night."

Merlin looked Draco over. "English would be a good way of living. When you finished, you could move anywhere and teach."

"I'm not messy," Draco said firmly. "My roommates at the hospital drove me crazy because none of them made their beds or picked up after themselves." Having a roommate who wasn't constantly having sex with their boyfriend was appealing.

"I don't know how I'd feel about being a teacher, but it would be more interesting than History." He played with his champagne glass for a moment. "I'll have to see if they'll even take me back and whether or not my father is willing to support me."

"If you don't want to teach, you could write." Merlin suggested with a grin. "Think of everything that you could write if you wrote about your actual life. People would read that in a heart beat. Scandal and intrigue."

Merlin waved a hand and their food arrived. "I have a nice flat. Two bedrooms. There's a gym downstairs and it's near campus. However, I have a driver."

Draco laughed. "I'm not sure I want people reading about my life, although I'm sure it would sell. How to have a complete breakdown and get yourself locked up in a mental hospital for a year."

He picked up his fork. If he was talking like this than he probably needed to eat some food. It had been a while since he'd drank and it was showing. "I have to admit, it sounds very appealing. But should you be inviting me to live with you when you don't even really know me? I did just get out of a mental institution and I was... maybe am still your father's lover."

What better way at getting to know you than seeing you brush your teeth in the morning?" He arched a brow. "Besides, It'll be good for you to get away from your sex crazed friends." He told him. Draco instinctively made a face when Merlin said he was going to be his new daddy. "God, I hope I never hear you say anything that terrifying again." Maybe Merlin had a point about Draco not being ready to settle down yet.

"You're right. It would be nice to not have to leave the house whenever Luka's not working. They're only sex-crazed because they just started having it. I think. Hopefully they'll both calm down with time."

	Merlin shrugged and looked Draco over carefully. "The offer still stands, mate. You can move in with me. If you don't want to, that's fine. I understand that you may not know me. And that's okay." Draco ate some of his fish, thinking the offer over. If they found out that they got on, it would be a better option than listening to Pansy and Luka go at it all the time.

"I read a lot. I play chess. Things like hobbies sort of take a hit when you get put away," Draco said, after a moment. "I used to like to go riding. I grew up in a country manor. I like shopping as well. I think Pansy and I are planning to go shopping soon. I desperately need new things. She was only in the hospital for a couple of months, but that means she's still a season behind."

If you're still interested in riding, there are stables not too far from here. It's nice." Merlin chewed a piece of steak and looked at Draco. "Do you like to dance?" He asked. 	Draco smiled at Merlin. "I think most people like to dance," he said. "Even if they take a couple of drinks to admit to it. I have been dancing in forever. Is that one of your hobbies?" 	"It does occupy a lot of my time." Merlin admitted, eating another bite of his food. He ran a hand through his hair and smiled at Draco. "I do keep the weekends to myself, however. I'm an incredibly fast learner, I have a photographic memory and I read fast." He shrugged. "On the weekends, I go dancing. Or to clubs. Just to listen to music and have a drink. Nothing wild."
