Open to Liam
When Parker went missing, Callaway never for a second thought that he had just disappeared on his own accord. Yes, they sometimes had volatile fights, but he never left without coming back. Callaway had a sinking, terrible feeling that something was very wrong. The past five years had been a struggle for Callaway, emotionally and sometimes even physically. He hated that the police had given up so easily, and no matter how often Callaway pushed them, they just didn't seem to care.

At the moment, he was trying to write. He was a fairly successful writer, but since Parker had gone missing, he had a difficult time concentrating. Parker was a writer, too, and it was hard to write without thinking of him. It was hard to do anything without Parker. The last rough draft the young mad had given him to read, Callaway had read probably over a thousand times. It was all he had left.

Staring at the blank computer screen, he let out a heavy sigh and lifted his hands up to rub his face tiredly. There was no way that he was going to get any writing done today.

Callaway nodded his head and went over to open up the document that Parker had emailed to him. He started to print a copy before he went over to his bookshelf and grabbed a copy of his boyfriend's book. He had one that Parker had written a note to him in, and then another Callaway had bought simply to support the boy's writing. The copy that he'd bought was the one that he handed over to Liam.

"Do you... Do you think that he's still alive?" he asked after a moment, slender arms curroundup cross over his waist.

Those were the questions that stung and he could always feel a knot twist at the base of his skull as all of his anxiety burrowed there. "With criminals like this, it is highly likely that the victims are kept alive. Unfortunately, I must tell you that five years is a very long time to keep someone captive. There are so many scenarios that it's really impossible to wager a guess about what happened to Parker. But I assure you that we'll do our best to find out what happened. And if he's alive, we'll find him and the others."

He hesitated and then put a hand on Callaway's arm. "Whatever the outcome, I want you to know that your devotion to finding him is exceptional."

Callaway swallowed hard and nodded his head. There had been many scenarios that had run through his head over the years, many possible outcomes of what could have been happening to Parker. You name it, Callaway ha probably thought of it and feared it.

"Thank you," he said softly as he nodded again.

Liam asked a few more questions, trying to get the whole picture of what Parker was like. It was paramount to understand the victims to better guess what drew the predator to them. By the end of the interview, Liam felt he had a pretty good understanding of Parker Reigh, better than any piece of paper could tell him. It was clear what a strong connection these two had and he wondered if it could be continued when and if Parker was found.

"We'll be in contact again, I'm sure. For now I have enough to go on and we'll be working on the case. If you have any questions," he handed Callaway his card. "Don't hesitate to call if you think of anything that you think might be important."

Callaway took the card as he handed over the stack of papers that he'd printed for Liam that made up the novel his boyfriend had written just before he'd gone missing. He nodded his head and looked down at the name on the card, and for the first time in a long time, he felt a sense of hope. It felt good, and a little terrifying all at once. He didn't want this hope to get snuffed out like all of the other times it had been.

"All right, I will," he said before he looked up at Liam again and managed a grateful smile. He led the man to the door and held his hand out again. "Thank you for caring."

Liam nodded his head, taking Callaway's hand in another firm shake. He'd put himself far too much in the other man's shoes and his sympathy was clear. Fortunately, Callaway had appreciated it rather than seen it as as patronizing.

He was glad to have the books. He knew his team members would gather the works of the other victims. He was growing positive that they held valuable information about the kidnapper.
