Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Caspar still felt awful about what had happened between him and Xavier. Even if he'd wanked himself to death over it afterwards. He honestly couldn't help it. He didn't know what to do with himself anymore. But, he knew he had to sit with Xavier and Scorpius through a dinner. He ran his hand through his hair and glanced at the door, adjusting his tie before he knocked on Malfoy Manor's door.

Cepheus didn't like that he'd actually invited James for this dinner. He looked at his brother miserably. "Did you invite that Caspar bloke tonight?" He asked Scorpius. "Albus wouldn't come with me because of his boyfriend. So I had to ask James Potter."

Cepheus took a moment to calm himself down and then opened the door, stepping back into the world where his parents were. He led James to the dinner table. "Sit."

Charlie looked up from where he was sitting and glanced over Caspar. "Holy shit, Longbottom. What are you doing here?" He asked with a grin and then looked at Scorpius. "Are you dating Caspar? I know his father."

Caspar laughed. "This is the Charlie you're always talking about?" He asked.

Pansy laughed softly. "Come on, Draco. It's not so bad. That Caspar boy seems nice enough."

Aurora stepped into the dining area and glanced at the cards on the table. She moved "Scorpius's Plus One" To the opposite side of the table to sit beside Xavier. "There. Now you'll be sitting beside him and I'll be sitting beside Scorpius."

James did as he was told, sitting down and then looking around the dinner table. "Your family is loaded," he said, looking at all the forks and spoons and knives on the table. "You're lucky I have good table manners."

"Yes, Charlie and my dad have been together for forever," Scorpius said, glancing between Charlie and Caspar. "How do you two know each other?" he asked, and looked at Charlie. "Professor Longbottom is too young to have worked at Hogwarts when you taught there, isn't he?"

Draco made a bit of a face. "He does seem nice," he agreed. "Which is good. He's just... I don't know. He's not exactly who I picture Scorpius dating. He doesn't seem very exciting, and Scorpius already spends most of his time studying. Cepheus, on the other hand, could use someone who calms him down."

"You're the best," Xavier said, laughing when Aurora switched the cards for him. "And you'll be even better if you keep Scorpius busy during dinner. It'll be a lot easier to talk to Caspar if he's not right beside his current boyfriend all night."

"I'm quite aware of how loaded my family is." Cepheus informed James as he looked him over. "So you should feel privileged to be my date tonight. Just informing you. In case you didn't realise."

"I taught him. And he's also friends with Albus's Dad. Whom I'm friends with. And related to by marriage." Charlie pointed out with a grin. "You've gotten a very good catch here. I'm proud of you, Scorpius."

"I think he'll be good for our son." Pansy shook her head and glanced at Scorpius. "Don't you think he deserves to be happy with someone who doesn't force him to be exciting?"

"I fully expect you to feel him up under the table." Aurora informed her brother, then moved around the table to take her seat. "If you don't you'll be punished."

"I'm very flattered you invited me, even if I was a last resort," James promised, looking at Cepheus and laughing. "I know you're doing me a favour by letting me come here tonight." He brought the other boy's hand to his lips, kissing the back of it.

Scorpius smiled back at Charlie, then looked at Caspar and squeezed his hand. "I know I do," he said. He leaned in and kissed the other boy. "Come on. Let's find out seats so dinner can start," he said, leading Caspar around the table to his seat. "I guess we're sitting across from each other tonight," he said, stealing another kiss and then letting go of his hand.

"Maybe," Draco said, watching Scorpius and Caspar part ways. "As long as he's happy I guess I can't complain about anything." He kissed her cheek and then pulled her chair out for her. "I'm going to go keep Charlie company. You make sure Cepheus's date keeps his hands above the table."

Xavier would have laughed, but with Aurora you never knew if she was joking or not. "I'll keep that in mind," he promised, walking around the table and taking his seat. He glanced at Caspar and smiled when Scorpius led him to the seat next to him. "Enjoying yourself so far?"

Cepheus looked back at James for a moment and then nodded. He didn't let go of James's hand. Instead, he just held onto it under the table. "So tell me more about yourself."

Caspar glanced at the table placement and frowned. Why was he by Xavier and not his boyfriend? "This is weird." He told him, though he sat down. He glanced at Xavier. "Is this your doing?"

"Okay. I'll make sure that he does." Pansy rolled her eyes and then moved to sit beside Rider. "Draco is being over protective."

Cepheus keeping hold of his hand was a little surprising, but James didn't mind it. He smiled at the other boy. "What do you want to know?" he asked. "I like picking on your best mate because he's my younger brother. I listen to old music. I like suits, but otherwise I prefer wearing denims and a t-shirt to anything else. I'm going to play Quidditch professionally when I graduate."

Xavier shook his head. "I can honestly say it's not," he told Caspar. "Just because I fancy you and think you should be dating me doesn't mean I'd be that obvious about trying to get you to like me more. It seemed like Mum liked you. That unusual, actually. She doesn't normally pay much attention to Scorpius's dates."

"Of which one?" Rider asked, pulling Pansy into a long kiss and then letting her sit back in her own chair. "Scorpius's date looks harmless. He's not even sitting beside Scorpius." Rider nodded to Caspar and Xavier.

Draco sat next to Charlie, sighing. "I don't like Cepheus's date," he told him. "James Potter seems like he thinks far too much of himself. What do you know about him?" Charlie spent enough time with his family to have some dirt on the other boy.

"Are you?" Cepheus asked and then shrugged. He didn't have that many ambitions, if he was honest. He just didn't want to end up being stuck with being the heir. "What team do you want to play for?"

Caspar shrugged at that and frowned. "I'm a catch. I'm good for Scorpius." He informed Xavier, looking him over. "I'm not sure I should be sitting with you. I should ask your mother to move me."

Pansy looked at where Caspar was sitting and frowned. "That's not where he's supposed to be sitting." She told Rider. "Should I fix it?"

"James is a good boy. He's also part Weasley." Charlie pointed out as he looked back at Draco, wrapping an arm around him. "He's a bit of a serial dater, but the last time I checked, the two of them weren't actually dating. He's a Quidditch player."

"I'm not sure yet," James said, shrugging. "I have offers from the Wasps, the Tornadoes, and the Arrows. My mum played professionally for a while too." He reached for his wine glass, taking a sip of it. "She's helping me look at the offers they're making. I want to pick a team I know I can stick with for the long haul, you know?"

"I know you're a catch," Xavier told Caspar. He reached under the table and touched the other boy's leg. Aurora had said he was supposed to feel him up, so he would. "She and Scorpius just don't get along very well. It doesn't have anything to do with you. Don't go yet. I like you here."

Rider looked at Caspar and his son and shook his head. "No," he said. "They seem like they're getting along, and Scorpius and Aurora seem perfectly happy. The elves must have mixed up the cards."

"Of course he is. Look at him. He's far too self-confident for a teenager," Draco grumbled, shaking his head. He took a sip of his wine and glanced at Xavier and Scorpius's boyfriend. "What about the other one? Is he good for Scorpius?"

"Those teams are all shite." Cepheus informed James and shook his head. "You shouldn't do that. You should go for a better team. I'm sure you've got the talent for it. I've never paid attention to you flying before."

Caspar frowned at Xavier. "What are you doing?" He asked, feeling more upset than he should have been. "Why are you doing this, Xavier? You know nothing about me. At all."

"I'll have to ask the elves later." Pansy leaned against Rider and kissed his neck. "Seeing my children with dates makes me feel very old. You should coddle me."

"Caspar is the best person Scorpius could have found. He's a good kid. He makes good marks and he's talented. You should hear him sing and see the passion. Almost as good as Bowie."

Aurora looked at Scorpius and smiled at her brother. "Are you enjoying yourself tonight?" She asked as she picked up her glass of juice.

James snorted, raising an eyebrow at Cepheus. "I'm going to assume you support someone else, then," he said. "Because the Wasps have one of the best track records in the league. You should watch me fly the next time you're at one of our practices. I am good. It's why I've been Captain of the team for three years running."

"So tell me," Xavier said, looking at Caspar. "I want to get to know you. I want to know... everything about you. This is your opportunity to tell me." He smiled at Caspar, trying to soothe him. "There's nothing wrong with us being friends, is there?"

Rider laughed, wrapping an arm around Pansy and pulling her close. "You're not old. You just got married young," he said, kissing her neck. "I'd be happy to coddle you, though. Especially if I can do it with my cock."

Draco raised an eyebrow at that. "Coming from you, that's quite an compliment," he said. "Scorpius did say he was talented. I assumed he was just being a good boyfriend. He must be talented. Scorpius had brough better looking boys to these things before. Of course, I think those were all attempts to impress his mother."

Scorpius looked at Rory and smiled a little. "Yeah. I'd be enjoying myself more if Mum sat me beside my boyfriend instead of across the table from him." It felt really good to be able to claim Caspar as his out loud, instead of pretending they were just friends. "What about you? No date?"

"I'm a Cannon's fan. I cheer the underdogs." Cepheus informed James, looking him over. He shrugged when he started bragging. "I'm aware. You never let me make the team. Ever. So.. it's whatever."

"Friends don't grope each other at the dinner table." Caspar pointed out, glancing at the hand on his leg. He ran a hand through his hair. "What do you want to know about me?"

Pansy made a soft noise and rested a hand on Rider's thigh. "You know that you're more than welcome to start doing that a little later. When the kids are all in their rooms. Probably doing the same thing."

"Possibly. He's always had to try really hard." Charlie told Draco and looked him over. He pressed their lips together. "Just calm down about it. You know? Your kids are amazing. They'll be able to figure things out on their own."

"I didn't want to bog myself down with a boy tonight." Aurora answered simply with a shrug. "It's much easier to sit back and judge everyone else when no one is judging me."
