How often do you find it worth it to try to explain yourself to your parents?

I sometimes do and sometimes don't.  Obviously, there's a lot of stuff they need to be kept up on, and they've got great insight about specific things, but on some personal stuff, can be easier to just let them make assumptions, you know?  They've got Stuff to do, and they don't need details or clarifications.

I try to be totally up-front and honest with my parents. If only because if something goes wrong, they'll have the best chance of knowing what to do, having been around a while and being really well-informed.

...This plan does not apply quite as well now that I'm into something our family has so little context for, but we still try.
