Melly didn't exactly love school, at least not for anything that had anything to do with academics, but she was pretty glad to be back. It wasn't as easy to socialize over the summer and she'd missed her friends a lot. Not to mention there was this really cute new guy she'd been noticing in her classes and she was anxious to compare notes with Abbie. You know, on top of the notes and texts they'd exchanged all day, of course.

The nice thing about it being the first day was that cheerleading tryouts weren't until next week, which meant she had a free afternoon to do whatever. Shopping or maybe just hanging out with her bestie seemed like a good way to pass that time, so she was going to go find Abbie just as soon as she was done here. It really wasn't fair that Mr. Hayes had made her stay a few minutes after class. That was valuable time she could have been spending with Abbie talking about the new hottie in their class.

"I wonder what his story is," she mused to herself as she set her books in her locker and quickly checked her reflection in the mirror. She definitely intended to find out.

Melly shook her head. "None, actually, which is good, because homework tends to get in the way of fun." She may have been joking slightly there, because it wasn't like she would ever put off fun for the sake of homework when she did have some to do, but she was glad to not have to worry about it.

She grinned brightly when he informed her that he'd definitely be going to the party. "Of course I will be" she confirmed. "A party wouldn't be nearly as fun if I wasn't there." Again, she was joking, at least partly. She was glad to hear he'd be there, though. Melly always enjoyed having an excuse to spend time with a cute boy.

"It does!" Gage exclaimed, shaking his head in mock exasperation. A lot of people probably wouldn't know that Gage actually did really well in school Gage knew where he wanted to go in life and what it would take to get him there and despite how goofy he could act he could be quite focused on that. He also wasn't going to always let it get in the way of him having fun though.

He gave his own little laugh at her words and nodded along. "You got that right. What sort of party would it be if Melly Sullivan wasn't there? A right sad one." Which was partly true since all the popular girls seemed to bring something to the parties.

	"That is absolutely true," she agreed without hesitation. "It's definitely not a party without me!" She grinned brightly at him. "I'm glad you'll be there, though," she added, not all ego, at least.
