IMPORTANT MOD UPDATE IS IMPORTANT.
God Modding is against the rules. And while Axel pointed it out in an eariler post, I do not believe her post contained enough information on what exactly falls under god-modding to make a good dent .....and after that post I actually noticed an ~INCREASE~ in god-modding. One of my characters has fallen pery to it six times now. And by more than one player so let's explain what god modding is so nobody makes a mistake!

God Modding is when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. Not only when one takes control of another character. An example is when they simply cannot be harmed, outsmarted, out niced, and out pwnaged by any and all means other RP-ers try.

+ Killing or injuring a character without the player's permission is god-modding.
+ When a character can't be hit and is able to dodge all attacks or anything aimed at them is god-modding.
+ Controlling a character you do not PLAY is god-modding. Taking control of all the NPC's to the point where you give them names, occupations, personalities, and backstories can fall under this to. They're there for temporary play- not continuous play as if they're another character of yours. NPC's are "Non-Playable Characters" ...And concerning characters created by another player that is sort of an NPC, such someone's pet, those should ONLY be played by the person that created the character or if you are given permission.
+ THE absolute WORST way to god-mod is when one makes their own character a Mary Sue. Which is one makes their own character seem superior of every other character. They can make others seem weaker than their character, less intelligent than their character, uglier than their character, meaner than their character, and whatever else makes them greater that isn't stated in canon. If you character is magically immune to heartless- You're Mary Sueing. If your character magically knows people's names/love interest/what they ate for breakfast without any sort of predetermined explaination- You're Mary Sueing. If your character can be purer in heart than Sora, smarter than L, Mello, and Near combined, more physically fit than Suzaku, have more HACKS than Yuki Nagato, be manlier than Kamina, or know more about everybody here than Konata when their canon never says they are those things. They're a Mary Sue. Stop playing them right now.

*Annnnd canon, incase one is not aware, is another word for official. It means the official storyline in which the character is based on/came from. So if your character is stupid in canon- you really should be playing them stupid.
* NPC's in Traverse Town are anything that isn't a claimed character- such as moogles, heartless, random inn staff, store keepers, and the 101 Dalmations.

THAT'LL BE ALL.

Thanks for this ♥ I think a clear explanation was needed cause I noticed it happening a lot more recently too but just sort of made concessions around it cause I figured oh well.

>.> Though could the person who took Kyoko's cat please speak up so I can work with you getting that back? I never posted about it being lost or missing and kind of didn't want it taken from me. ;;

Also I know like moogles are NPCs and what not but to what extent can we use them?

I think that was me. I thought the cat could go in and out as it pleased, which is why it would be funny if it was pawing at Sasakura's window on occation (since he is actually very deeply distrubed by heartless). So sorry if it was an indoor animal.

^^;; It's fine I was just wondering since it had belonged to her and then I was told I didn't have it anymore. Now gives me something to have Kyoko pitch a class five fit about! :( Just don't be mad if she goes crazy on you and blames you for stealing it. She's deluded like that.

Well my family owns indoor-outdoor cats, so I just assume everyone else treats their cats that way sometimes....

So I'm sorry. Really!

No no it's okay it's totally fesible that it would have run away from her. I usually have it do that a lot. :x Just let me know so I know where it went if that makes sense.

Well I had it trying to get into other rooms at the Inn. Maybe it got out and was trying to get home to be feed. So it's still in the second district then....

Just know it's not an actual cat XD Kyoko's is actually a heartless that I think way back months ago she had Lelouch make into a cat for her. So now it's really a heartless that thinks it's a cat.

:x All I know is last night in the chat someone said they had Kyoko's creepy pet.

Sasakura did not say he had the pet, he said that he wasn't scared by it anymore. In a pervious chat it was batting at the window and creeping him out. So it might had been another person.... (I also play Sasakura, in case you haven't guessed.).

I don't know who it was that's why I was asking who had it XD I wasn't there for when they were discussing my pet I was just asked if I knew, for my future posts and comments or whatever, that I didn't have it at the moment.

:x Don't know why anyone would want it. It's a creepy little thing.

Use to them whatever you'd like- but like.. moogles are genderless, synthesizing nice dudes~ so saying you got a pet moogle or that they spread lies around is KINDA going too far. ^^;

For a start, Mamori does not have pet moogles, there are just 10 moogles that work at the cafe. That's an amount I plan to lower in the near future to allow more played characters to come in and take their places.

And they don't spread lies around, they chatter with anyone who listens do them. Which is what they did in all the final fantasy games I recall playing. And since they aren't human I don't think its unreasonable for me to assume they might not have a human sense of privacy.

I'm sorry if I've been a little lenient with my interpretation of the rules. I have issues with following rules if they are not clearly stated. Now that they are, I will do my best to follow them.

Oh and btw, in Sasakura's defense on IM the other night, Mamori told the moogles that girls wear red and boys where black aprons. Now, I know that they are genderless, so it just wound up being that they just picked whatever apron they wanted. Half picked black and half picked red. He assumed by gender, because he's freaked out by the little guys and tries to pay the least amount of attention as possible.

And I believe in Final Fantasy VII there was a mini game at the amusement park place where you could feed a male moogle nuts to help him impress a female moogle with his flying to get GP.

Sorry, I can also be very specific to cannon as well. Just thought I'd mention that.

HEY HEY! D: I wasn't accusing you or anybody else of having a pet moogle. It was an example of what not to do with them. Don't think I'm calling you out on something like that. Having moogles work in a cafe is all fine and dandy and all. The problem that's been brought up with us is that they get played and refered to in almost every single post that takes place there- or whenever somebody's talking about it. It's cool to be like 'we got this one that mows the lawn or something'~ but sometimes the characters interact more with them than other characters, you getting me?

I was using lies as another example too. Not accusing you here so don't get mad at me! :( But uh, to be helpful if you're confused~ you're thinking of them as Final Fantasy moogles when the Kingdom Hearts ones are entirely different. They don't really do anything and aren't mentioned to speak unless spoken too- even in the novels and manga for the game. They're silly, I've read but not-so-much talkative. It's cool if you want them to though ^^ Just uh..... they wouldn't go around telling everybody about someone's condom shopping?

Okay, I wasn't too concerned about that. It's a nice explaination though. ^^ Sounds kinda cute that they picked.

Again, they're an entirely different species of moogle than Final Fantasy ones so the gender thing is never brought up in Kingdom Hearts. idk. That's not a big concern.

It's okay. ^^

I'm sorry, I just feel really defensive because Sasakura got his ass yelled at twice by Kallen, once by Lelouch, and Konata was trying to make him out to be a conspirator. I'm not really fond of that kind of thing and I tend to take it a bit personally sometimes (because I try to become that character in my mind when I play them). So that's why I'm being defensive.

I haven't actually played Kingdom Hearts, so I just use what I do know about moogles. That's all.

Meh, I'll shut up now.

It's important to not get too into the character you're playing to the point where IC things offend you OOC. Don't take it personally, okay? It's like the number one thing someone has to keep in mind when roleplaying not to take anything another character says to yours as an attack on yourself. Kallen's just really defensive when it comes to friends in trouble and Lelouch is the same. AND Konata just kind of...does that. She also wanted people to hook up, spilled information, and wanted to handcuff someone to a stove in the same chat. Sorry if you thought that was personal~ ^^;;

You should double check with if the characterization is the same between things. ^^ Like in this spinoff manga of Code Geass Lelouch is a buff strong badass who can punch Knightmare frames down with his bare hands~~~ which is WAAAAAY different than the show.

I understand, but emotions are illogical things. That's why I got off the chat when I did, because I was being irrationally upset about that. I understand why they did it, but really, it didn't make me feel that great as a person to have my character be attacked like that. I just thought I'd remark that because it seemed like a good time to.

Hey it happens in a roleplay. Okay~? You just gotta remember this is just fictional stuff going on. If a character is an asshole he's not going to randomly turn nice for another character in order not to offend the player. Nobody was trying to be mean to you.

I was just about to say exactly what was posted in response already. Not everyone's character is always going to be nice to everyone elses. Conflict is nessecary to keep a story interesting. Don't take any of it personal ever because here it isn't meant to be. Though if you are attacked on a personal level it will be delt with so swiftly by me that I'll make heads roll

:( Try not to take it personally. If I did I would have rage quit long ago. People pick on Jou all the time and make him the butt of all the jokes. It's the personalities of the character not necessarily the people.

Shit cause if it was I don't think I'd have any friends ;;

And it is canon for certain people to be a bit more abrasive and come off strong or be a little mean. All I'm saying if you take that personally you won't have a good time. :/ I don't care that they pick on him I was just saying it's gonna happen. >.> Cause really if everyone was always nice to everyone, ICly, this place would be boring.

I fail to see how [+ When a character can't be hit and is able to dodge all attacks or anything aimed at them is god-modding.] is god modding... I mean if someone doesn't want their character hit, they shouldn't have to let their character be hit.

And also... you kinda did that when you wouldn't let L get wet all through the water event.

Just my $.02

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]powerpuff
2009-08-22 11:44 pm UTC (link)
It is god modding if they NEVER GET HIT EVER. Like hey if you're having a fight with someone take atleast ONE punch. You know?

..And I did not do that. I purposely put L next to a pool with the intent of getting him wet and the only time someone actually aimed at him was it was god-modded that he used someone as a sheild from it so- yeah no. I totally wanted him wet.

Issues were brought up to Vi and I, so I put a post up about it and added some extra facts in to explain what else is God-modding so nobody gets all confizzled. 'Cause all the points missed in the last post were all the points that happened so if I don't miss a point here then there's little chance of it ever happening. Mmkay~? The 'long-explained' bits up there are the main points.

Right, right. That's fine and dandy. It doesn't bother me, I was just stating that I thought you described something you'd done as god modding and was trying to clear things up for myself, clearly I misunderstood.
