St. Mungo's Invasion --- everyone!
Rabastan was in a bad fucking mood.

He'd been in a bad mood for about a week, probably a bit before then because he'd somehow been dragged into decorating the entire bloody manor with his mother. She'd guilted him, to be honest, crying about how she didn't have grandchildren and he snapped that he'd help her put the bloody garland up if she would stop her ridiculous attempts at getting him to procreate.

St. Mungo's was ridiculously obnoxious with its brightly lit corridors and bustling employees. How could anyone possibly be jolly all the fucking time? Rabastan supposed it let him slip in and out of the crowds a bit easier, but still. When you were trying to create a bloody scene to save a man's life (not something he found himself thinking--ever), it became irritating, quickly.

He turned a corner and pulled out his wand, extracting the spell from the walls of the hospital that kept it lit so brightly. Rabastan grinned as the light flashed and turned into darkness, his wand spinning once in his hands.

Well, then.

Dedalus had told her to stay home today.

Not told, exactly, because that would have been rather odd, but he'd somehow found out that another nurse needed to switch shifts with someone, and put together that Eliza was free and--yes. She'd been home for about half an hour into the shift she was supposed to have when she received an emergency owl about covering in the maternity ward.

Which---ended sending her up to Spell Damage for half an hour, which sent her back down to the second floor. Eliza found some weird sense of calm in the chaotic halls of Mungo's; even though everyone was always moving at a rapid pace, they all knew what they were doing, and that eased her worries.

Eliza had noticed Peter because she noticed everything, and he seemed to look very sick. She remembered him from school, and she'd seen him around Dedalus--sort of. Or whenever Dedalus was around Peter's other friends, really, but she did recognize his face and name, and he was looking ill in a hospital...which she worked at...

"Are you feeling all right, Peter?" she asked softly, eyes full of concern.

He looked ill? He didn’t think he did, but he didn’t doubt it. He was probably pale, and looked like a nervous wreck. Then again, when didn’t he? For some reason, Peter Pettigrew always had a nervous look about him, as though expecting someone to jump out behind him every second of the day. It was rare, for him to be calm when he wasn’t surrounded by the rest of the marauders. They were kind of like his bodyguards, even though he wouldn’t ever admit to it. There was no doubt that his 3 best friends were stronger, and smarter than he was when it came to certain things…like, dueling for example.

“What?” He repeated, looking over at the elevator before turning back to Eliza, nodding his head frantically. “Y-yeah, I’m fine, just…just fine, thanks. Feeling quite well, actually. I’m just b-busy…don’t really have time to t-talk, have th-…” he looked over his shoulder watching as the elevator went down to level one. He mentally cursed at himself and then turned back to Eliza. “…I’m fine.” He repeated, even though his shoulders had dropped a bit. He couldn’t fail at his one job, or else The Order was going to kill him.

He certainly didn't seem fine. It was usually a very big hint that someone wasn't fine when they proceeded to comment that they were fine. Three times was when Eliza stepped in, and her eyes shot to the opening door of the elevator. They would be able to get him a pepper-up potion right around the bend---

Eliza blinked slowly as the lights in the corridor turned off. Why were the lights off? Why would the lights be off? Eliza was sure in her few months in the hospital, she'd never seen a dark corner in the building, let alone an entire corridor.

"Was it storming outside?" she asked, unsure of when he boarded the lift. Eliza pushed back on her heels, trying to spot some sort of illumination from under a door or something like that. Sometimes the wards and lights in her house would flicker when a rather nasty storm would pass by.

Peter’s attention moved over to the elevator, again, once Eliza’s did. Damn it, he had yet another opportunity, but couldn’t even take it because Eliza was standing there! Part of him wanted to just…stun her or something, stop the elevators, and then revive her as though nothing had happened. He was sure that wouldn’t go over very well, so for the time being, he would have to wait it out. He fidgeted slightly, and opened his mouth to tell her that he was fine, one more time, but stopped speaking immediately after the lights went out.

“…it’s not a storm.” Peter’s voice was very low, his eyes darting around for any sign of movement. He slowly turned around, trying to not make any noise as he did so, but there wasn’t any point. As soon as he was facing the other direction, he felt a spell slam against his chest, sending him flying back into Eliza. He landed on top of her, and quickly scampered to his feet, helping her up. “Stupefy!” The spell was directed at the Death Eater who was lurking in the shadows. It stunned the wizard momentarily, giving him enough time to drag Eliza behind the nearest corner. “You okay?” He looked over at her before he went to peer around the corner, seeing the Death Eater get closer and closer. “We don’t have a lot of time. Go and f-find a place to hide…now!” The last word was spoken a bit louder than his other words. Peter wanted to go into hiding as well, but knew that he couldn’t let anything happen to anyone else in the Hospital… That wasn’t what an Order member, or a Marauder would do.

Moving out from behind the wall, he pointed his wand at the Death Eater once again. “Obscuro!” He couldn’t tell if it had worked, because it was so dark. It wasn’t until the Death Eater stopped moving towards him did he know he had been successful. He gripped at his wand, knowing that because he was horrible at fighting, he wouldn’t last very long, but the least he could do was try to hold the wizard off for as long as he could. He took the time to back up, accidentally bumping into a plant, which caused the momentarily blindfolded wizard to know his location, or at least which direction he was in. His wand was raised, and pointed at Peter, who didn’t have much time to speak before “Expellamus!” was shouted at him. His wand went flying, and he once again began to panic, since the Death Eater had already uttered the counter-curse to his own little blindfold trick. He stood frozen for a moment, and then, out of no where, he had a moment where he felt brave, and leaped for his wand, feeling it against his fingertips before hearing another spell shouted at him by the now, very unhappy Death Eater.

“Crucio!”

Eliza was knocked completely off balanced, physically and mentally; what was that. She stared frightfully down the hall as Peter pulled her up, nodding quickly in response because---because that was a spell, someone had shot a spell at them, and---Eliza let out a gasp as she realized what was going on. A death eater in the hospital! Why would they---the Minister! They were after the Minister!

---oh, oh this was why Dedalus had suggested she stay home.

"Peter!" she shrieked, backing away with her hand going to her mouth. Oh! Oh---wand! Yes, wand, she'd---she'd never seen a death eater before, and she should probably be focusing on him right now but Eliza couldn't take her eyes off the writhing boy on the ground, and she had to do something, "Diffindo!" she cried out, hearing the sickening sound of sliced flesh.

Eliza didn't have time to think that she had just attacked a death eater before the cloaked figure was centimeters away, grabbing her by the chin and shoving her to the wall,

"Pretty little girls shouldn't be playing such a dirty game--"

There was absolutely no denying that he had never felt pain like that in his entire life. As much as he wanted to hold back his shouts, he couldn’t, because every single fiber of his being felt like it was being sliced open with something rusted and dull. It seemed to last forever, and when it ended, he couldn’t move at first. He didn’t even realize who had actually come to his rescue until he heard the Death Eater speaking. Deep breaths were taken as he quickly recomposed himself, grabbing onto his wand as he approached the cloaked figure, disarming him before pushing the tip of his own weapon against the back of his neck.

“Let her…go…”

His voice was hoarse, and his hand was shaking more than he wanted it to. At this moment, he was absolutely terrified. James, Sirius, and Remus were no where to be found, he was not responsible for Eliza’s life, and he was a Muggleborn to boot. He didn’t even have blood status working in his favor in this situation. It was just another reason for him to kill Peter, and that thought kept rushing through his head.

The Death Eater let out a cold laugh, turning his head to acknowledge Peter. Part of him thought that his heart was going to explode, since it was beating to hard against his chest, but he stood his ground. “Let her go!” The words echoed through the empty hallways, pressing his wand roughly against the Death Eater’s skin, hearing him grunt.

“Filthy mudblood...”

The phrase made Peter twitch internally. “I swear to God I’ll blow your bloody head off…” Peter spoke through gritted teeth, sounding surprisingly tough, even though he was anything but. The Death Eater began to let go of Eliza, before he decided to grab her by the neck and throw her down the hall, causing Peter to stumble back since the larger man had crashed into him in the process. Thankfully, he didn’t drop his wand, and was able to shout a slew of spells in the man’s direction. Before he knew it, the cloaked figure was shouting…due to the fact that his entire body was on fire. Peter stared at what he had done, eyes wide and jaw slacked, the smell of burning flesh filling his nostrils before he scrambled to his feet, feeling extremely nauseous, and went over to Eliza, bending down to check on her. “Come on, y-you need to get up, you ha-have to get somewhere safe…”

Go away, go away, go away was the only thought running through her head. Just---go away---she couldn't even be sure if she was terrified, because her mind could only focus on his hands, and what he was doing, and why he was doing this to her, why was he---Eliza let out another shriek and skidded into a tray of materials, having them shower down over her.

She needed--her wand, she'd dropped it, and---and---Eliza let out another scream at the sight of the man on fire and--and his robes were completely engulfed, and she pushed back on her hands and heels, backing away until Peter was hovering over her.

"Peter!" she let out, "Peter! Peter are you---he's---he's on--" Eliza finally forced herself to look away from the death eater and up at Peter. This--this was, this was--she grabbed onto Peter's arm, unsure if she was shaking or him, and stumbled back into a--supplies closet. Eliza tried to catch her breath, and she latched onto Peter again, "Peter---I---is--Dedalus! He's---he has to be---the--I have to find him!"

Oh, he was definitely shaking. His entire head was spinning, and he was trying to wrap his head around what had just happened. “I-I know, I…there’s no time, w-we need…we need to go…” He continued to try to help her up, nearly falling over with her when she stumbled back. He moved over to her, bending down to help her up, only to have his eyes go wide as she clung to him, swallowing roughly as she asked about Dedalus. “Wh-…What? No!” He pulled her up, quickly, still shaking as he looked back to the Death Eater who had let out another scream, now collapsed on the floor. He tried to get his heart rate to go back to normal. “Y-you can’t go, i-it’s not safe. The D-…The Death Eaters, th-they will kill you, you…you can’t go!” He hated that he couldn’t even get out a sentence without tripping over his words. At least he could get out a sentence now, because earlier in his life he couldn’t get past the first vowel.

He knew she wasn’t going to just listen to him when it came to Dedalus so he placed both of his hands on her shoulders. “We need to get out of this hallway…alright? I…just st-stay close to me, okay?” He nodded his head, hoping it would be contagious and she would do that same. He turned around, walking towards the elevators that just so happened to be where he needed them to be. He pointed his wand at them, finally uttering the spell that shut them down. Now, even if Eliza didn’t listen to him, there was no way to get through the elevators, or get to the stairs unless she knew spells to break down the strong barriers that had been placed around the hospital by Order Members. He looked up at the ceiling, as though looking through to the floor above them, hoping to God that everything was going well up there.
