WHO: Vinny Gudgeon and Heidi Twlifit
WHAT: Trying to teach her how to cook!
WHERE: Her house!
WHEN: Riiiight now?

"It's---Heidi, it's okay!"

Vinny stared helplessly at the spaghetti sauce that was dripping down the front of his shirt and pants. Okay, so...these cooking lessons weren't going as well as he thought they would, but Vinny supposed that she had warned him. He couldn't exactly complain when she had actually let him know that she was no good at cooking. In fact, it wasn't the cooking really, it was the nerves. Vinny couldn't remember Heidi being like this back in school, but he guessed after going through a trauma like she had...

Right, these lessons were to help her out, not sit and think about how she'd gotten into this situation in the first place. He looked up from the mess with a weak smile. "It's fine, I'll just get my wand---"

This was the reason she'd never asked her husband to teach her how to cook. She couldn't remember being this spastic either, but she was so nervous that someone had told Vinny about how completely fucking nutters she was now that she could barely focus on going from one place to another in the kitchen.

Oh, this was so silly. She took a deep breath and managed a few hasty nods before she moved forward and grabbed a dish towel, trying to at least absorb some of the sauce before it got into the material too deeply.

"Merlin, I'm sorry I'm such -- I didn't used to be like this, you know." Hopefully he remembered that from school.

"You totally know that's cheating, right? Because it is. Definitely. Cheating." She tapped her finger on the table with an arch of her brow.

"But ... if you know a good Chinese place I'm not going to say no. I have a permanent hard-on for spring rolls." Heidi ruffled a hand over the back of her neck and pushed off the counter, smiling a tad. The idea of having dinner with Vinny that didn't involve her potentially burning her hands off was going to cheer her up at least a little.
