Why was he plagued with the worst kind of luck! Why? One would think that it would be great, to have any kind of good luck at all. But in Adrian's opinion, it wasn't. Life would be a lot easier to deal with if he knew that things would always go one way or another; not in the twisted way it usually did for him. Like having a famous father. Sure that was great, but it wasn't exactly like they had ever really met. That didn't get him very far did it? And now, Noah Boot---

Adrian cringed at the thought of the other man, his feet coming to a stop. Yes, Adrian had somehow gotten out of Friday's event alive and well (how, he still had no idea), but the man in the planetarium that had saved him had been taken. Kidnapped! If that wasn't enough, after further research Adrian discovered that this kidnapped man was Noah Boot, and he was Odette's fiance! How-- how was that even possible? Out of all the people--- the one person--- it was unbelievable. The worst kind of good luck. Now there was the possibility-- Adrian shook his head again, forcing himself to move forward through the Magpies' Stadium.

He had to tell Odette. It wasn't... he knew she wouldn't take it well, but this knowledge was eating him alive; it was starting to become unbearable. Pulling back his shoulders in an anxious manner, Adrian finally found himself walking out onto the pitch. The team wasn't practicing now, he knew that, but he had hoped he would find Odette here beating out whatever issues she had at the moment. After a few seconds of searching the sky and the stands, he realized she wasn't here.

Sighing, he turned and spotted a blonde woman still in gear a few meters away from him. No doubt she was one of Odette's teammates; she would have some idea, wouldn't she? Adrian promptly walked over, too focused on his mission to remember common courtesy. "Have you seen Odette?" he asked, shielding the sun's glare from his eyes with his hand.

After hearing the news of Braith's release, Maggie couldn't think of anything to do but get onto the pitch. Or cry. But she decided that getting into a practice would be the best way to go. She was still technically on maternity leave for another four weeks (it hadn't started until Josef came home), but she'd given birth over a month ago and was feeling in pretty good shape. Of course, she still had to see the trainer every day, and work with the new chaser, and not lose her focus wondering if Josef was hungry or not.

This was going to be harder than she thought.

Today's practice went pretty well, as she was mostly by herself to get her endurance back up. She watched as Adrian Mattias strode toward her; of course Maggie knew who he was! As much as she hated being in the tabloids, she kept an eagle eye on them to see what they were saying about her, and who else they were talking about. She didn't stop in unwrapping her wrist pads as she stared him down. The wrist pads dropped to the bench, not bothering to acknowledge how close he'd gotten.

Odette? Maggie narrowed her eyes. She didn't even know if her teammate was in the stadium,

"She's not having any visitors," she said quickly, as she pulled her hair out of its tie.

Yeow. Adrian's lips pressed together in a somewhat amused way, his focus temporarily distracted by this woman's attitude toward him. Though, the more he looked at her, the more she seemed familiar.... it was difficult to remember all the new faces he had learned in the short time span between the time he had been traded and the beginning of the season. Adrian thought for a moment, blinking slowly as he searched for her name.

Benn? Band? Blend? Brand! Yes, Brand, Magnolia Brand. His head tilted to the side slightly as he reaffirmed his memory. Yes, this was her. At the recognition of her, Adrian's smile dropped. No, he was not here for this. He was here to keep to integrity, and truth-- and doing the right thing.

He shook his head at her. "It's important," Adrian pushed, his hand falling from his face to lay at his side. He hoped the urgency in his voice would at least clue her into the fact that he was not here to simply bother her. "Is she here?"

What could be more important than Noah reappearing? Or--something about her kids! Adrian Mattias definitely did not know anything about those two (three) subjects, so Maggie felt no need inform him of where her friend and teammate might be. For all Maggie knew, Odette hadn't left her house today. Or she might be locked in the locker room in the dark, sitting in silence like she'd found her yesterday. Maggie pressed her lips together. She was not going to let this bloke ruin Odette's day even further.

"She's not having any visitors," Maggie repeated, lifting her leg to set her foot on the bench, to pull off the shin straps. "I can relay a message for you, but that's all you're going to get out of me, I'm sorry."

Not that she was actually sorry at all, but it was something she was used to adding to the end of her politically correct statements. Had to show some sort of humility, after all. Maggie looked up at him as she dropped back to the ground. God, he was tall. Why was she so short? It nearly made it hard to be intimidating when you felt like a pixie besides someone.

His puffed his cheeks out in annoyance for a few seconds, then deflated. This wasn't helping him, she wasn't helping him at all. But--- the last thing Adrian needed was for her to assume anything negative of him coming out of this conversation. That left him very little room to continue the conversation or push further. He supposed she thought she was doing the right thing for her teammate-- it was still annoying as fuck, but at the very least admirable.

Adrian watched as Maggie sat herself down on the ground and continued to half ignore him, half brush him off. At that moment, it suddenly became difficult to not get short with her. "Right," he spoke, letting out a short sigh after he spoke.

But then it dawned on him that he didn't need her permission to look around. There seemed to be the possibility that Odette would be here... Maggie just was not going to help him in any way. Obviously it would have been easier that way, but it wasn't like he couldn't take the search upon himself. Uplifted by that thought, he shook his head at her and produced a smile.

"Thanks anyway," Adrian said, his shoulders shrugging slightly at he spoke. "See you around," he finished with a wave before turning around to head back into the stadium. The rooms for players wouldn't be too hard to find; stadiums were generally built the same, weren't they?

He couldn't just---walk away! Maggie hurried up to her feet, letting out a string of silent words as she didn't know what to say and---Odette would kill her if she let Adrian get to her. Just! Just maim. Maggie knew grabbing onto him would be fruitless (and also look very, very stupid), so--who could stop him?

Ooh. Maggie recalled a similar incident, when one of Drystan's various stalkers had managed to get into the stadium on a non-game day. That had been a fun half an hour of hide and seek.

"I'm calling security!" Maggie let out after him. How had he even gotten this far, anyway? Was that all a quidditch player needed to do to sneak into an opposing team's stadium and onto their pitch? Just flash a handsome smile and waltz right on in? Maggie didn't want to cause a scene, though, because Odette would be even more frustrated with that than actually seeing Adrian, so she didn't call out as loud as she should, "Security!"

With each step away from her that he took, however, her tone grew louder.

For such a small person, Maggie could produce a very loud voice that echoed easily. Adrian at first tried to ignore her, hoping she would give up the further he walked away from her. But no, no no, now she was following him, practically yelling at the top of her lungs! Calling for security, no less! Neither of them needed a scene with their names attached to be created out of this, so he gave in relatively quickly.

"Will you quit it!" Adrian turned swiftly to face her, his voice low as he addressed her. Why was she making it so difficult for him to do the right thing! It was hard enough admitting that Noah's capture was basically his fault, but for someone else to be stopping him from taking blame for it was even harder to deal with. He just wanted to get this over with.

But Maggie was not going to let him. The only thing at this point that could possibly shake her off was.... the truth, he supposed. Or that was at least his best bet. Not too keen on this idea, he raised his left hand to his head to push against it. His other hand went out to her in an explanative manner.

"Look," Adrian started steadily, his hand pushing further to stop the headache that was forming. "I want to talk to her because I was with her--- Noah before-- when he went missing. And I thought I should be the one to tell her before she finds out from some rag. That's all." It took all of his self control to not glare at her as he spoke or after he finished. He knew she was only doing what she thought was right, too.
