Valentine's Day Gala!

Being the defending champs gave the members of the Caerphilly Catapults many obligations, like being the MC's of this rather lavish evening...or, rather, the boys had volunteered Carys to do all the talking as they stood and looked cute in their suits. It was a job that she didn't particularly mind, she'd been in the spotlight all her life, but she grew bored of introducing generous donors and the big-wigs of the league. Carys knew about all the politics that went on behind the scenes, so she put on a good face, but was definitely not shy about voicing her opinion on certain matters.

"Oh, absolutely," she said to the head of the refereeing committee, "But when you've got one ref on the offensive side, and the foul's committed on the far end of the defense's area....I'm just saying, we should probably be taking advantage of--oh, what's it called?" Carys winked at the man, and at the reporter listening in, "--magic?"

She laughed when he huffed and excused himself, and the reporter shook her hand for the great sound bit. Carys gave a little twirl (her dress had too many ruffles not to twirl), and leaned over the counter to order another drink. The sound of something like an amused snort made her turn her head, and she raised her eyebrows,

"Something funny?"

Maggie was right; her outfit was catching people's eyes, and Adrian was definitely one of them. He had been pleasantly surprised when he dropped by to pick her up, and she had no doubt noticed his raised brow and a wide grin form because of it. She really knew how to get him, didn't she?

And in public no less! It was like she thrived on driving him crazy with little things like this. Actually, the more Adrian though about it, the more sure he was that she did. She knew the both of them had spotless records when it came to the press, so doing anything to make it spotted was simply unsuitable.

How much longer did they have to stay here?

Once she turned and spoke to him, Adrian could not help but let his jaw drop. Did he dance? Did he dance? If Adrian wasn't so smitten with Maggie, he would have been offended. Of course he danced. His mother had made sure of that--- where did she think he got his cooking skills from?

"Do you?" he challenged, stepping back to gesture his open palm at her. Adrian's lips pressed together in an amused manner, and even went as far to bow slightly. He suddenly decided that two could play at this little game.

Of course she wanted to drive him crazy. It seemed to be the one goal in her life outside of being named M.V.P. of the championship match that Maggie has had her entire life. Drive. Men. Crazy. She drove her father nuts by signing with the Magpies, she was constantly harping on her brother for not having a girlfriend or wife that could bear her nieces and nephews, so----her boyfriend was always her main target, of course. And, since Adrian was such a good boy, Maggie sought to push his buttons as often as possible.

And let's all be honest: Adrian worked so hard on that perfect reputation because he was naturally a bit of a bad boy.

Maggie let him lead her out onto the dance floor, taking the chance to wink at the photographers and some awestruck fans. She was glad for a faster song because she was able to swish her dress around and get pretty close to Adrian without being too obvious. Her free hand slipped to his shoulder, making moves to sling around his neck to pull him down to maybe steal some kisses.

"Do you go out dancing a lot, back home?" Maggie asked, letting her hips sway to the music.

Just with the simple mention of Portugal, Adrian's eyes lit up.

Not that they weren't before, obviously he was very happy spending time now with Maggie, here, but it was a different kind of excited. He had been having spells of homesickness recently, something he had never really experienced before. Hogwarts had been different; then, all he had wanted was to get out of Portugal and into Britain, going home every year being bittersweet. But he had come to terms with his roots, making him randomly miss his old apartment, or a random restaurant down the street from the stadium.

"Yes," he nodded, one of his arms going to wrap loosely around her waist. Dancing was different there, though. Much more freer, and upbeat. Well, he also figured that the places he went there were vastly different than the ones here--- but the English would always be a bit stiffer.

"There was this one place--- Bruja. It was really close to the stadium, so we would go there a lot," Adrian began to talk quickly, hardly even stopping to breathe. "The team, I mean. It had this huge pool in the center of it, and half the roof was open and they magnified the stars to look seriously close and bright----" His mouth opened wide to continue, but Adrian stopped himself once he realized something.

"I'm going to go back for the season break, I've decided. I want you to come with me," Adrian spoke in such an excited manner, he didn't realized how demanded it sounded. In his mind, there really wasn't another option.

Maggie didn't think she could go through so many emotions in such a short time, but it was so easy for Adrian to get her riled up. She'd been so excited to hear him talk about Portugal; Maggie never really traveled outside of the country, save for Germany to visit relatives, so everything outside of the United Kingdom was so fascinating to her. Listening to Adrian's stories always caught her attention, so when he stated that he was going to go back once the season was over---

---Maggie felt such a start. Her heart came to a full stop at the idea; he was going back? She felt like a bludger had hit her straight in the gut, like she'd been thrown to the pitch from thirty feet in the air. Adrian was going back to Portugal? For the whole off season? Is that what he meant? That was a long time, four, five months---that was a long time to be without your boyfriend! Did he just decide?

She nearly tripped over her own feet when in the next second Adrian was inviting her to come with him. More like insisting, really, and Maggie couldn't stop herself from gawking up at him. Come with him? To Portugal? To his home? And probably meet his family, too! Well, his mother---and his friends on Braga! She'd see the places he liked to visit, he wanted her to see all of that?

"Really?" she squeaked, cheeks and ears reddening. The complete sloshing of her emotions in the past few seconds had gotten the best of her, and Maggie let her usually cool demeanor falter.

Oh no. Initially, Adrian thought his invitation had not been well received. A startled, almost sick-like shock took over Maggie's face, leading him to think that he had gone about this all wrong. Maybe randomly saying this had been too soon, maybe she didn't even really want to go. He sort of put her on the spot.... and if she wasn't at all interested, it really just made him look like a complete ass---

But the reaction she gave wasn't a bad one! Realizing this, Adrian's thoughts perked back up drastically like the last few moments hadn't even occurred. That meant yes, didn't it? Basically anything that wasn't a flat out no meant a yes in woman speak, if he remembered correctly. Well, in some situations anyway; this was one of them. He knew Maggie well enough to know it was very clear when she did not approve of something.

Getting excited again, Adrian began to nod his head. "Yes," he said, his grip on her tightening. "If you want to," he added in hastily a few seconds later, wanting to cover all his bases. "Josef too," Adrian finished finally, just in case she had any reservations about that. His flat back home would have more than enough room to fit all of them comfortably.

She could die. Well, no, not die because then she wouldn't be able to go to Portugal with her boyfriend and her baby! Maggie had really believed her life would be over once Josef arrived, but she'd found that she loved her little boy more than anything she'd ever cared about before, and now---now she had an amazing boyfriend who adored her and wanted to take her to his home in Portugal and---

"Of course! Of course! Yes, I---" Maggie was so excited and elated at the prospect. She never did anything during the off season other than party and---well, last off season was spent being pregnant so this was going to be so much better. Maggie couldn't imagine, a whole...oh goodness, a whole off season of just being with Adrian. Maggie had never done anything so serious with a boyfriend, but they'd basically been playing house since the summer, so----

Her blush flared across her entire face as she nodded, having stopped dancing a few minutes ago in her excitement. Maggie used the hand resting behind Adrian's neck to pull him down and kiss him soundly.
