Open to Quidditch Players + Guests
Of course the party had a slight theme of blue and yellow. It wasn't blatantly obvious, but as Bess shifted the United blue napkins to the perfect angle, she couldn't help but beam at how proud she was of the entire gathering. People were happy to see each other, mingling and looking relaxed; the party was exclusive to the players and their guests, so there were no cameramen or journalist---the only pictures being taken were by the players themselves, who seemed to be having a good time goofing off before work began again. Bess had really never thought about being one of those wives, that hosted parties and entertained guests, but---she had to admit that it was quite fun.

The garden looked beautiful. Bess wasn't quite sure how Drystan had so easily managed to get the space, but she wasn't going to complain. Her husband had tricks up his sleeve that she'd probably never fully figure out. Plus, she'd gotten her sister-in-law out of her flat and now Penelope was somewhere around here...hopefully talking to a handsome bloke (but just talking! Only talking!).

Bess couldn't be more pleased with herself. She let out a breath and shook her head at a few players who were on their fourth glass of champagne.

"What??" he repeated in disbelief. Did she really not have an inkling about why he might be upset.

"Really? I know your still friends with the guy, but would it be so hard to, I don't know, blatantly flirt with your ex? Especially when I'm standing right over there." Seth really felt this wasn't so much to ask. He'd been fairly accepting of the whole situation for quite some time, but this was getting to be a bit much.

"I mean, I doubt it very much that you would be okay with me hanging all over my ex wife while you were standing in the same room."

"I was not--" Mira started, her tone quickly changing to a low hiss. Her body tensed as she looked up at him, and for a brief moment her chin stuck out in a defiant manner. But as quickly as the flash of a challenge filled her eyes, it disappeared. It was obvious that this was a sore spot for Seth, and Mira knew that--- so she would stay calm. For the time being.

Pulling back, she recomposed herself. Arms moving across her chest, she pushed any aggressive feelings down to control herself. She could be mature, even if he wasn't capable of being so at the time. And while it was very easy to forget sometimes, Seth would always be a Gryffindor at heart, just as she would always be a Slytherin at heart. He would not rile her up and make her upset about something that wasn't happening. Or at least wouldn't turn into something else. It was just the way that she and Charlie treated each other!

"You are blowing this out of proportion," Mira said coldly, waiting until Seth finished before she spoke. At the very least, she had to conserve her anger for the right time to use it. Now, at the beginning of what looked like could turn into their first real fight, was not the time to strike.

"I am only going to say this once," she warned, keeping still as she locked an intense gaze with him. Just because he didn't seem to remember that they were in a public setting didn't mean that she would. "I am not blatantly flirting with anyone. I am not taunting you. Nothing is happening, nothing will ever happen. If you feel it is absolutely necessary to start hanging all over your ex wife to get revenge, then see how far that takes you. Now, if you will excuse me---" She had some stomping of the ground to do.

"I am not--That's not--Don't-- Hey. Hey don't walk away from me!" Seth said following after her quickly. He had been letting her placate him with 'nothing is going to happen' for far to long.

"You can't just walk away from this. This conversation is not over." He said stopping her from continuing to walk away from him, and pulling her of into a somewhat secluded corner. "You don't get it, do you? Whether or not you are doing it intentionally, you still are doing it. You're still obviously flirting with other guys, still taunting me. You are making me look like a fool."

And because Seth is on a roll, he keeps ranting. "Do have any idea how it looks. What people might say?" he gestures his with his hands to mock a headline. "Wadcock finally settles down and falls in love, too bad his girlfriend is too busy spending time flirting with exes. Read more, page 6."

He finally pauses, sighing while running his hand through his hair as his word catch up with him. It's the first time he's admitting to loving her out loud and he feels awful that it's come out during a fight. But its true and its far to late to take it back now, so he might as well just say it straight out. "I love you, and you are making feel--look like a fool." he repeats solemnly.

"Seth!" Mira whispered vehemently, appalled by his words and actions. She jerked along with him, but only because he had caught her so off guard. They were in public-- and the worst kind! Private public! Surrounded by people that were their peers, and would no doubt throughly enjoy gossiping about what they could possibly be fighting about. It just wasn't-- you didn't act this way! Why was he acting this way?

As soon as Seth stopped tugging her, Mira tore her arm out of his grip. Shaking with anger, it felt like her body was beginning to inflate more and more with rage every second. "How dare you---" she hissed, her hands balled into two tight fists. But before she could continue, Seth barreled over her words with no sign of stopping, giving Mira no choice but to wait until he had finished his rant.

While the Slytherin had been angry earlier, that anger now paled in comparison to the legitimate rage burning through her entire body once Seth had finished. How--- how--- Mira had actually never wanted to hurt someone more in her entire life. Not only--- not only was he insulting her character, but he was insulting their relationship. Because-- since when the fuck did he care about other people? Saying that he loved her at the end did not make it better! It made it, it made it---

Without even a second thought of hesitation, Mira raised her right hand to swing a hard slap across Seth's face. The same hand swiftly returned to her side, forming into a tight ball with her index finger pointing at Seth like a death stick. "You care so much about what other people might think over my word," she spat, her words practically dripping with venom. "So don't say you love me, because you can't possibly if you don't even trust me."

How had this turned so bad so quickly? Seth was supposed to be different, not like--- this. Mira shook her head, feeling hot, angry tears begin to build in her eyes. "Don't talk to me," she spoke, taking both her hands and using all her strength to push him away from her. Knowing this would be the only time she could escape easily, Mira quickly turned on her heel toward the exit.

He had said he loved her.

The slap had caught Seth off guard. And maybe he deserved it just a little bit. "That is not what this is all about! I promised you that I would do what I could to keep you out of the magazines. At the very least in a negative light. I don't care what they say about me, but I don't want them writing bad things about you." he tried again. Seth was never good with his words or getting his point across properly. In retrospect he should of approached this from a different angle altogether. "I trust you!" he said quickly once she questioned his trust. And then she was shoving him away and turning on her heel.

Seth didn't grab her this time, he wasn't stupid enough to try that again, but he did reach out and brush fingers with his to try and get her to slow down. He just wanted her to understand. "I never thought it would actually lead to something it just... it drives me crazy to see you with him, or any other guy, acting all coy and flirtatious the same way you did with me when we first started dating. I tried ignoring it, I did, but its getting to be too much. It's like a constant reminder that one day you might wake up and find me boring and move on, so you have this line of guys just in case. And it makes me insane, thinking I might not be good enough for you. This was never about trust, Mira."

Alright, now she felt like she was going to hurl. How was this happening? One minute, everything was fine, the next she had never felt so angry in her life, and now it felt like she was jumping off a cliff into depression. Why-- why? How could Seth be doing this to her, making her so emotional? She was just talking with Charlie. Not having open sex on the balcony.

Mira suddenly stopped in her tracks, keeping her head low as she felt hot tears begin to pour down her face. She did not turn to face Seth, and had no energy to. Seeing her cry was one of the last things she wanted him to see.

He was saying these things to her, these things that made her heart want to melt and her anger desire to disappear. But it couldn't, Mira just couldn't let go of how quickly he had turned on her, and how--- if it had been about that all along, then why hadn't he said it from the beginning? The fact that she effectively had to pull it out of him did not reassure her fears, anger, or guilt. In fact, it made her even sadder, because she didn't want him to think those things that he was thinking. She didn't want him to think he was boring her, or that she was... doing anything that lead him to believe he wasn't good enough.

He was good enough! Better! Seth was wonderful, one of the few boyfriends that treated her well, made her happy and hadn't done anything to make her feel... less important that something else going on in his life. So, it made her feel sad to know that she was making him feel this way, and even sadder to know that she had no idea who was right.

But she had to be strong. No matter how horrible Mira felt right now, she would continue on and not fall apart into a pool of tears. "I would never do that to you," she choked, her composure strengthening as she spoke. Wiping a few tears from her face, Mira turned slightly to face him, collecting all her strength to continue.

"I never intended to make you feel that way." Her voice came off slightly cold, but at that point that was all she could manage. "I'm sorry." Feeling another wave of tears coming, Mira quickly turned to continue on her route to the exit. Just fucking great, she finally manages to get a guy to say he loves her, and she screws it all up!

Seth was quickly learning that he should just stop expecting reactions from her, because it was never ever what he got. He blanched a bit when he realized that she was crying. She had just slapped him not even two minutes ago.

He didn't want to make her cry, he just wanted her to realize how he felt, and tone down the flirting. He sighed a bit as he followed her out of the party.

"Mirabelle..." he said softly taking her hand into his right before she reached the apperation point. "Don't cry." He pulled her into a hug, because he hated seeing her cry. "It's okay, I know you didn't-- I'm sorry. I shouldn't have bombarded you with that. I should have thought things threw better."

Mira's eyes closed as her face buried into Seth's chest. Taking a moment to actually breathe, she felt her head begin to clear and her body begin to calm down. So--- wait. Wait. What the fuck was she doing?

Eyes snapping open, Mira quickly began to realize just how ridiculous this whole situation had become. She was just crying into his chest, letting him think that everything was okay? Everything was not okay, it was far from okay! He was making her feel like shit for something she didn't intentionally do, berate her some more, and then have the audacity to thrown in that he loved her! How, how was any of this right? Jerking her emotionally around like a rag doll!

“No!” she spoke suddenly and harshly. He was not allowed to say those things to her, make her feel so poorly and then hug it all away. Mira twisted and writhed enough until she was able to successfully break free from Seth's grasp. There may have been a few moments of her own weakness before, but now was different. She was not going to crumble in front of him.

“You insult me,” Mira spoke sternly, her face still blotchy. "And you insult our relationship. You are only making a fool of yourself. Do you even comprehend how differently this could have gone if you had simply thought before acting?" She shook her head fiercely, the fire in her belly from before beginning to burn again.

"So I am leaving, because I can't even look at you without becoming upset and embarrassed.” Holding her balled hands to her side, Mira wasted no more time and walked away from Seth for the final time.
