EVERYONE! PARTY THREAD
Running her fingers through the folds of her dress, Glenda let no pleat or invisible lint go unattended to as she sat. Her dress was far too beautiful for those kinds of blemishes, and the task had proven to be a manageable distraction that was getting her through the rest of the night until it was professionally and socially acceptable to leave.

Oh, that sounded horrible. She really shouldn't be so unwilling to attend her own party. The WWN had really outdone itself, inviting practically the whole of the Wizarding World to help 'welcome her back' to Britain's airwaves. The network had been more than happy to accept her back when she (Sturgis) had contacted them, but had made no mention of something like this until last week after everything had been finalized. All she had asked for was her job back, but apparently her celebrity status had grown substantially with her absence and things like this had become necessary.

She had spent the first good part of the party clutching tightly onto Sturgis' arm, feeling not only uneasy but lost as witch after wizard continued to appear in front of her, asking questions, telling jokes and attempting to have ernest conversations with the woman of the hour. It felt strange having so many familiar faces and names rushed back upon her, and many times already she had wished she was her formal self. If this had been three years ago, Glenda knew she would have chatted up the entire room already instead of giving half-empty smiles, dutiful nods and soft answers.

Now, though, Sturgis had long ago left her side. A tactic she knew no doubt had been purposefully planned down to the minute. It had generated the same feeling within Glenda when he had shown up an hour early before this whole thing started, asking if she minded escorting him, and then offering to drop Tristan off at her Aunt and Uncle's to ensure that she would have enough time to get ready because she hadn't even gotten dressed yet. She knew he was only trying to help with her readjustment process, which made her love, and hate, him more because of it.

Letting out a quiet sigh, Glenda looked up to catch glimpses of the party from outside. Her aimless wandering had lead her to party's outside grounds, a rather nice garden area with sparkling lights and nearby fountain. A few people were nearby, but she didn't mind much. The atmosphere reminded her of Italy.

OOC: soo it's safe to assume Gleny basically knows everyone, WWN would've made sure all friends were here LOL and if she didn't, all famous people were invited anyway so YAY

Estella had gotten a new haircut, which meant she wanted people to compliment her on it, and that meant going out in public, and that meant a new dress. It was very, very rare that she indulged in such girly things, as she'd even taken on the role of Rosalind in the ballet production of As You Like It, where she played a girl....dressed up as a boy....who was teaching a boy how to love a girl, by playing a girl.

It took Estella a few times being told to fully understand, but now it was good fun! It still meant that she had to dress up like a boy most of the time, and then she went home to three very manly boys, and even her little Lizzy had been rolling in the mud and playing rough, so it was about time for Estella to embrace her femininity.

Too bad she really could not compare to the gorgeous women who had bodies like goddesses. She was a dancer, okay, she was a dancer so she was in good shape, but she was no where near---she'd also had two kids, and one's body just did not recover from that without rigorous training. She felt like her haircut and dress were going to waste, but she could not get herself to feel good after seeing the women in the crowd. Estella stayed glued to her chair then while Caden made the mandatory walk around the room, feeling like everyone was pointing out that her hips were huge.

Caden had decided that he had talked to everyone worth talking to when he would be pulled to the side by a reporter who was trying to get answers out of him about the stunt the men from Puddlemere pulled in their first game. He was so sick and tired of being asked the same damn questions time and time again, wondering how they hadn’t figured out yet that Caden Flint was the last person on the team who was going to tell them anything. He ended the interview as politely as he could (by just walking away), and went on a mission to find his wife in the crowd.

He saw her from the side, sitting down in the same chair she had been in when he excused himself, though she looked…nervous? He couldn’t tell what that look was that she was wearing, but he could tell something was on her mind, weighing her down. His brow quirked, and his pace slowed as he approached her, stepping behind her to place his hands on her shoulders, leaning down to speak low against her ear.

“Came back to you as soon as I could.”

Estella had been so entranced at how that one Harpie could walk in those heels that she hadn't noticed Caden approaching. She jumped in her seat slightly, but immediately relaxed when she realized it was her husband and she turned to tilt her head up at him.

"But I know how much you love talking to reporters," she said with a grin, putting on of her hands on his, looking back at out the crowd. She felt silly for being so excited for coming, but how could she have known that she'd look so bloody frumpy? They hadn't been to a big event like this in ages, so maybe...she'd just forgotten that she wasn't in the shape she used to be. Or at least---augh. Getting back into shape after having one kid was doable, some people had been so impressed with how she'd gotten her figure back after Jacob, even though most of that had to do with not eating from her depression...right.

But two! Having two kids made the effort a little harder, and she'd stayed home for longer with Lizzy than she had with Jacob, and ugh her bangs were just strange looking to her now and how hard would it be to convince Caden to go home right now? It would probably be very easy, actually, and Estella squeezed his hand,

"Have you figured out the best escape route?"

Estella had always been, at least during the time Caden had known her, a bit jumpy, to say the very least. With that being said, it wasn’t at all surprising, the way she jerked in her chair when he inadvertently snuck up behind her. He snorted when she made her joke about him being such a willing participant when it came to answering questions for reporters. “Hm. Yes, the press and I are becoming the best of friends.” He answered with sarcasm dripping from his voice, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek before he too looked out into the crowd.

His attention was brought back to her when he felt her hand squeeze his, his eyes turned down as he waited for her to speak, wondering what was on her mind. This time her words caused him to smirk, turning his hand around to take hold of hers, rounding her chair in order to crouch down in front of her.

“You know that’s always my top priority whenever I go…well, anywhere.”

He canted his head at her, a brow lifting to show curiosity.

“You, on the other hand…you’re usually the one trying to convince me to stay just a little while longer.”

His eyes searched hers – he was asking, without actually asking, what made her decide to ask him such a question.

Estella stood; maybe if she got up she could subconsciously get him to move toward the door and out of here. The more they sat here, the more she felt like the cameras and other celebrities were staring at Caden wondering why on earth he was with that stumpy woman. But Merlin's beard, she didn't feel like that when they were at home, but some of these women! They couldn't be real, they couldn't! Maybe it was because she knew Odette so personally, but her friend had never seemed so intimidating!

"And yet you still hate coming to these things," Estella said looking up with a smirk, "Maybe I've finally given in to your wall-flowery ways and would rather be ravishing you at home, since you look very handsome."

Yes...distract him with compliments and the promise of clothes-tearing sex. Estella was building up some nerve and began to go into a bit more detail about the plans she had for the night, when a photographer came up with a loud voice,

"What a lovely couple, smile?"

Estella tensed up and turned away, pretending there was something in her eye. Usually, as Caden had stated, she was the one trying to get him to pose (sometimes these photographers took really wonderful pictures! And the nice ones sent her copies!), but the last thing she wanted was to be photographed when she felt as wide as a hippopotamus.

“Is that right…?”

Caden replied with a smirk that matched his wife’s, finding that he was intrigued by what she was saying – he could only be so interested though, seeing how her talking this way was extremely out of character for her, and he had to wonder what was going on to make her stoop to the level of peaking his interest in this way, just to try and convince him to leave…that is, if that was what she was trying to do.

It was working, but that was beside the point.

The sound of a voice coming from the side made him turn his head, his smirk fading as brows furrowed, damn near blinded by the bright flash of a camera. He scowled, lifting a hand to lower the device from the photographer’s face.

“Bugger off.”

It wasn’t a question, but a demand, and the way his lips pursed made that clear to the photographer, who cowered and stepped away from the massive Quidditch star. Sighing, he looked down to Estella.

“…what’s going on with you tonight?”

His voice dropped lower, keeping their conversation between the two of them, not wanting to draw too much attention to the fact that she was definitely…off. He wasn’t mad, just concerned, and his expression portrayed that as he looked down at her, his hand lifting in order to fix her bangs so they weren’t caught in her eyelashes.

Estella felt like burying herself into Caden's chest and never moving from that spot again. She never felt out of place when she was in his arms, and maybe if they just never, ever went to one of these things again, she could feel the same way forever. Her eyes averted his, knowing that she'd made it too obvious that something was wrong, and she'd never be able to lie her way out of it. For a Slytherin, she was quite possibly the worst fibber to ever grace the earth.

"I don't like how I look," she admitted, her face flushing with embarrassment. Oh, that sounded so childish, but it was the truth and Estella was always honest with Caden, especially when she'd been caught in one of her terrible lies. Her eyes automatically watered, the admittance of her self-consciousness bringing to light every little flaw of herself she'd managed to find while being in the banquet hall, "With everyone looking so perfect it's---difficult."

Oh, he was going to think she was being ridiculous, but she couldn't help herself. There was really no comparing herself to these celebrities, and she worried about how many people thought of her as 'Caden Flint's Dowdy Wife.'

Caden looked down at her, like she was trying to interpret something she had just said, as though she had spoken it in some language he couldn’t understand. Still, she was truly upset about it, and he felt awful – he wanted to do something for her, but didn’t know what. The least he could do was get her out of there when she so clearly wanted to leave, and he was willing to do anything necessary to keep her happy.

He reached out for her waist, pulling her against him so he could kiss her forehead, and then leaned in a little bit further to speak low against her ear.

“Come with me, love.”

He turned, his arm snaking around her back so he could usher her through the crowd, paying off a doorman in order to let them pass through to the street so that they could get away without being stopped by the press. Once they got out to the streets, he walked her down the block, and around the corner of the building. There was a bench, and he would remove his jacket, laying it down before guiding her to take a seat – didn’t want her dress getting dirty. He squatted down in front of her, reaching for her hands.

“I’ve never seen somethin’ get to you like this."

She tried very hard not to start crying on their venture out of the hall. Maybe she was just at an emotional time of the month, but she didn't think that was the case. She'd never felt completely comfortable around this sort of crowd, but she'd been more enthralled with being with Caden to really notice. But now? With all the talk of relationships breaking up and people getting caught with significant others that were not their own Estella just...the thoughts overwhelmed her.

Not that she believed Caden could ever betray her trust. No, that wasn't the issue at all. As they walked the pavement and away from the party, all Estella could think about was how boring she must seem compared to all these other women. Merlin, that was a terrible thought. She knew her husband, she loved her husband, her mind shouldn't be clouded with the ideas of disappointing him and deeming herself unworthy. She really was the worst Slytherin in the world.

Estella gripped onto Caden's hands tightly, her shoulders slumped in defeat.

"Everyone there was so impressive, Caden," she let out, feeling foolish, but this was her husband. She could let out her fears and insecurities with him, she knew, even if she did feel silly for it, "And I'm sitting there thinking...if they ask me something, I've got nothing interesting to say just---I'm a teacher, I dance, that's----and they're all so bloody tall and skinny, and bloody Amazons is what they are."

Her face was a bright red now, and part of her wanted to tell Caden that he never had to bring her to one of these things again, "I'm so boring, Caden."
