Halloween Haunted Castle Event! Open to Everyone!
While she wasn't particularly keen on parties, she was set on saving wildlife. Everyone else seemed to rake in the galleons by throwing large events, no matter the scandals that erupted from them, so why couldn't they? Nora had conservatory's committee for quite some time now, and being the youngest by a good forty years, had devised this plan as a new and fresh way of funding. It helped greatly that she had friends that had access to some of the best party planners (or that she could twist Charlie Spinnet's ear until he helped her out), and things seemed to have turned out well. So far.

For the brave at heart, there was a grand maze that made its way throughout the haunted castle. Guests would be offered clues to get themselves to the ballroom, and if they were truly lost (as Nora was sure was to occur), for just a small donation (it's for charity), any money dropped into a clue box would light up a blue path down the correct route to lead the way out. With all the Gryffindors that Nora had put on the guest list, she was sure they were going to triple their goal.

There was a simpler route than the maze, which was simply to walk through the double doors to the dance floor. Nora was currently wavering between the two, having run out of pamphlets to give out at the front entrance therefore giving her no excuse to join the festivities. She felt rather exposed, as Delilah had stolen her cloak, and when someone tapped her shoulder she jumped nearly a foot in the air.

"Bloody hell!" she let out, spinning around. "You scared the life out of me!"

"No!" Charlie shouted, moving forward too quickly and banging into the shield again. He rubbed his forehead. "Damn it! I mean--no! There's no way I'm getting out of this thing alive without you!"

Which was probably not far from the truth. Charlie knew that unless someone turned on the lights and pointed arrows toward the exit, he was going to be stuck wandering this castle's corridors until he died and became a ghost and would then have to wander the blasted halls for all of his after-life, too. No, no, Penny needed to stay right there, because at least when she was around was able to focus a little better. Charlie backed up to look around the room, noticing that the entrance he'd come in from had disappeared! Or was it the same way Penny had come through? He couldn't remember, but it didn't matter at this moment because even if Penny did leave, there was no way to come around. He'd be stuck in here for all of his life.

"I---cheated on one of my O.W.L.s!" he said, putting his hands out as if offering up the secret. His eyes ducked down to Penny, wincing, "I mean. It was Astronomy. I drew the constellations on my palm, but they rubbed off because of the sweat and---" He watched the shield shimmer slightly, but was definitely still intact.

Charlie could see by the look on Penelope's face that she was just as stressed about revealing secrets as he was. Not that--he couldn't think of one thing that would cause him to be upset with Penny, unless she was snogging that blasted Tripp fellow on the side, which Charlie found highly doubtful. No, he knew they both had their demons in the closet, but he loved her and that wouldn't, couldn't change. It used to be scary to think like that, but now it was easy, it was even nice.

Oh. Bloody hell.

"Wait, I..." Charlie's lips twisted. He shut his eyes, hands in his hair. This was really not how he'd pictured doing this, but all of his other attempts had failed, so who was to say that there was some perfect way to go about it? "I've been trying to---I've been meaning to ask you...I was wondering if---perhaps---bloody hell."

Charlie threw his hands down, opening his eyes and looking pathetically at Penelope. "I bought an engagement ring in April and I've tried to propose about--four or five---a lot of times and it keeps getting interrupted and it's got me worried that---maybe it's some sort of divine intervention." Charlie blinked as spell shield drizzled to the ground and into a pile of glitter. "And...now I'm going to vomit."

Penelope's already large eyes widened to the size of saucers, and her wings beat triple the time they had been before snapping straight out.

He what?

Blinking furiously, Penelope's gaze slid down to the floor, and though she would have enjoyed allowing her gaze to remain there, fought to raise her eyes back up. She was at a loss for words, at a total loss for composure, as she struggled to come to terms with what Charles had just revealed to her under duress.

If Charlie had been holding on to this ring since April, and almost proposed to her four or five times, how had a witch who prided herself on her ability to observe suspected not one thing?

More than never having suspected, she'd never even thought along this vein herself. Of course, she'd imagined if Charlie and she had a future together, but those were much more like innocent, childish daydreams. Their checkered history aside, Penelope did feel quite safe with Charles, and was positive she loved him.

But marriage? She was hardly 21 years old… Barely a fifth… possibly even a sixth into her life. Penelope had envisioned what that big day might look like, of course she had. She was not sure, however, that she was in anyway ready to make that even slightly more of a reality than the pretty, dreamy picture in her head, even if it was with a man she loved.

The barriers of the spell had come down, with all her secrets safe and sound, but she felt as rooted to her spot as ever. "I didn't…" Penelope trailed off quite helplessly. "I… "

"The door," she found herself uttering. Penelope whirled around and sought out the exit in a bit of a stupor. "Doors are good."
