Nick >>
He was going to be sick.

Tim hadn't moved from his spot in the waiting room of St. Mungo's intensive care unit in the last...it had to be an hour. Because---no, well, he couldn't really tell time at the moment. Adamina had collapsed right after dinner, and that was...when was that? Why didn't he have a watch? Why---why, why, that was all that was running through Tim's head, and his hands pressed harder into his face, elbows digging into his thighs. She had been fine, her fever had even gone down yesterday, and today they were joking and laughing and all of a sudden she was just---

The man didn't know what he'd do if she didn't get better, Tim didn't know how to live without Adamina, was the honest truth. All he could think about was how she'd really trusted that she was okay, that she didn't feel that horrible and in his gut he had known that she wasn't as sick as everyone had believed...the healers, the healers said her symptoms didn't sound like the virus that had been going around, but they had to take their precautions.

Fucking---he'd called Nick's house, mostly because Tim had left his journal at home (could you blame him?) and then he had never trusted an owl, so. His mum had always had a phone in their home to blend in, so he knew how to use it, but he'd talked to Madeleine, so he felt horrible that she had to relay the news, but what was he going to do? He had to tell Adamina's brother, it all just--it was all just too upsetting to really figure out, and he let out a shaky breath, ears listening intently at the nurses' whispers behind the counter.

"A lot of bloody use you are," he muttered with a shake of his head, pushing up from the chair and ... well, composing himself. He pulled a rag out of his pocket and wiped off a little of the grime -- just a little, though, because damn if it didn't turn women on for some reason -- and then headed toward the doors, leaning casually and then peering inside.

Right, he could play calm and innocent. He waited for one of the younger interns to come out and leaned toward her with what he hoped was a pathetic smile - not too hard, considering exactly how frustrated and worried he was by this point. Could she maybe look into getting them in as soon as possible, she looked like a smart girl who'd be able to tell him exactly what was going on, right?

He pushed back into the chair a bit more, arms crossing tighter over his chest as he stole glances toward Nick and the healer. She wasn't going to let him go, he didn't have any right. Tim's eyes were darting from the floor to the conversation that was going on, floor to the intern, floor to Nick---no, he wasn't going to get permission to go see Adamina, not---not before he did, anyway.

Oy, God help him, but he just could not sit there and have this man so blatantly disrespect his wishes. Tim wanted the healers to do their job, and Nick rushing in there and being in the middle of all the mess would just make things worse. So---so no, he wasn't going to see Adamina just yet, even if the intern let him in.

"You're not going in there," Tim said as he stood and crossed over to the two. Shaking his head, he looked over at the intern, "He's not allowed in there, not yet."

He shot Tim a look. He'd probably seen a similar look from Adamina -- the sort of look that meant he wasn't going to be in a lot of trouble very soon if he didn't shut his mouth. Did Tim think that he was completely invalid, that he was going to go in there and keep them from doing their job?

...well, maybe that might happen, but he knew better than that -- it would hurt Adamina in the long run. He glared, turning back to the intern with a dismissive wave to Tim. "She's just going to get some information, since you seem to be incapable of doing that right now." Even if she went in and they didn't tell her anything at least he'd know that they weren't just keeping things from Tim because he would probably break down if he knew Adamina wasn't doing very well.

"I'm not bloody incompetent, Nick," Tim snapped before he could help himself.

He flinched, but the grimace only lasted a second, as Tim knew he couldn't chicken out now--that he didn't want to chicken out now. No, Tim was Adamina's husband, he was the one that was supposed to be in charge of important issues like this. Nick could care, Nick could kick and scream, but Nick would have to do all of that in the waiting room while Tim took control of the situation.

"When there's something to tell, they will tell us," he continued, hand waving toward the door (and toward the intern who had seemed to have snuck out of there at the first sign of trouble), "I trust the healers, they're doing what they can, and bugging them and being up their fecking arses about new information when they don't have any isn't going to do any good!"

Tim's arms fell to his side, fists clenching for a moment before his grip loosened. He kept a straight eye with his brother-in-law, shoulders stiff. Tim would have been perfectly fine with the intern seeing what she could find out, but Nick just had to add the biting remark.

"Funny, you sure act like it a bloody awful lot," he returned with a dangerous glare of his own, turning on his heels and bringing a hand up to shove Tim back toward the waiting area. At least he wasn't bursting in on the healers like he sorely wanted to do right now...but he needed to get his frustration out somehow and he knew Adamina would pitch a right fit if -- no, no, when -- she got better and saw he'd given her boyfriend a shiner or something stupid like that.

"You're really, really lucky that my sister likes you." For some unknown fucking reason. He rounded away from Tim then in favor of pacing - he was still bent out of shape about the whole situation and the fact that Tim was trying to take charge when Adamina had been his sister for longer and he only had one sister left who even wanted to talk to him, if he lost her because of Tim he was going to ... kill him. Yep.

Tim's body had frozen in the position the shove had put him in, all of his focus put on not getting angry, not freaking out, and not attempting to hex Nick because fuck it all if he had enough respect for the man to not touch him in such an insulting manner and----Tim couldn't help himself, he rounded on Nick, feeling almost as feverish as Adamina had, face a deep red from the flush that had over taken him.

"Get out!" he shouted, waving his arm madly at the door, "Get the fuck out of here, I swear to fucking God, Nick!"

It was inexcusable, it was so goddamn disrespectful, and Tim was used to just taking insults, jabs, anything remotely confrontational he would just take it and let it simmer and die. Ryan was always pushing his buttons to see if he could make him snap, but never had he felt this angry at a person, never had he been so willing to throw a punch or--or anything. And--and Tim knew that it was because of Adamina's precarious position, that he wasn't in the right state of mind to deal with Nick's stubborn antics, but the combination of it all was far too much for this Hufflepuff to just deal.

"Either you give me some fucking respect and let me handle my wife's situation, or you fucking leave!"

At this rate, they were both probably going to get kicked out, but Tim couldn't be bothered to think about that at the moment.

It was true that he'd never actually seen Tim this angry, and while some part of him was pleased with it - fucking finally the kid was growing some sort of backbone - he was just as much bothered by it because yes, he did know that they were going to get their asses kicked out of St. Mungo's and then when Adamina woke up she'd have nobody to visit her and that just wasn't going to fly. There were one of two options at that point as far as Nick was concerned, and the first wasn't in his sister's best interests.

The second was exactly what Tim was shouting at him. He was so fucking sick of screwing up their family, and here he was doing it again with his impatience and his inherent desire to keep Adamina safe even from her stupid fucking boyfriend and --

"Fucking fine by me," he snapped, although he was rapidly losing steam. He'd taken a few steps back toward Tim when the young man had rounded on him but now he turned on his heels and headed to the exit. Like hell he was going to screw things up for both of them and for his sister.

As quickly as his anger had struck, it deflated, and Tim's shoulders slumped greatly as he watched Nick storm toward the exit. Well---no, he didn't---

"Nick, wait," Tim called after, head nodding to the side in disappointment, "Look, I---I want you here, I do, I don't know what the fuck to do with myself, but---but you can't treat me like I'm some...some insignificant piece of Mina's life."

This was probably a talk they should have had a long time ago, but apparently it took a life or death situation to bring things to light. Tim really, truly and honestly, hated having people annoyed with him---it probably wasn't a good trait to have, but he never liked annoying people or getting in the way, and...and while he felt that Nick had seen him as some sort of blockade in his and Adamina's relationship so...so he'd let Nick get away with things before but...he and Adamina were trying to start a family, it was time to act like he could be in charge of one.

"Just---deal with me, I guess," Feeling horrid and a bit defeated, Tim's slightly pleading hands fell down to his side.

"Fuckoff," He muttered with a shake of his head, waving off the other man and glaring as best he could manage. By this point it wasn't particularly meanspirited, largely because he was feeling worse and worse and that made it impossible for him to be an ass most of the time.

Nick wasn't ready to have this conversation yet because that meant letting Adamina go in a way that he wasn't sure he wanted to. It had been close enough when he'd first been disowned and she'd stopped talking to him, how would it be now? He didn't want to lose her like that a second time but he couldn't figure out just how to compromise with Tim, especially right now while he was all fucking wound up from the fact that his sister was sick.

What he needed right now was space and a fucking cigarette and then maybe a shower, even if he would be worrying about Adamina for the entire time. It would be better than bashing in Tim's face with a kidney pan. He leaned against the wall nearest the exit and took a breath, scrubbing a hand over his jaw. "I need a fucking fag. I'll be back." Eventually. Maybe.
