Avis m'dear
Even though he would never, ever admit it out loud...well, no, no he would, but he'd probably only admit it in a fight, or something, to show that he really wasn't the bad guy or something---well, anyway, even though it might take some effort for him to admit, Tomas really did enjoy this husband act. You know, being nice to your wife. Doing nice, sweet things. Things that normal women often sighed that their husbands never did. Sure, they hadn't been married for even a month yet (two days! He was good with dates, unlike other husbands), but he was definitely trying to get as much husbandry stuff out there without making it overkill.

If that made sense. Because husbands usually didn't do stuff---so. Tomas didn't know, he was new at this!

At any rate, Avis wasn't the most normal of women, which was fine with Tomas, really, it was one of the main reasons he'd married her, so it was really give-or-take whether or not she was going to enjoy his birthday surprise. Which, yes, consisted of paperwork (because if all else failed, she'd get her bloody paperwork), and a plethora of other things he'd been busy collecting this past week. It took Avis being bed ridden in St. Mungo's to realize how much time he really did spend with her, and Tomas was currently on Moody's shit list (though, when wasn't he) because he refused to work with any of the other investigators.

Avis was his partner, thanks.

"Knock, knock!" Tomas' cheerful voice came from the door, but he didn't enter just yet. He grinned over at his wife, who looked terrible, but he didn't mind it too much.

"That's true," she admitted with a small smile, shaking her head. "I mean, I could just as easily have kids without you, but my fine egg-specimens..." She leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Yes, I suppose it will be a good start to the collection. Now all we need to do is figure out a way to fund her research."

That she was being serious about. Sure, she'd been relatively serious about children ... but she didn't want to bring it up just now. She wasn't about to just rush something because their job dictated that they should. Then they'd end up like so many of the couples that ended up divorced over ... strain or whatever it was that the others blamed things on.

See, they were good at this whole---serious conversation thing. Tomas could tell that Avis was taking it lightly, and that meant it wasn't set in stone or anything crazy like that, so. That was good. He liked the idea of children, Tomas loved playing with Annabelle at Greer's house, but he and Avis hadn't even been married a month, they definitely had time.

Which...was totally contradicting his thoughts about how an auror needs to fast forward through things, but right now, he was quite content on focusing on Avis and getting her out of this hospital.

"So---I've calculated the time it takes to get from this ward to the main magical bugs desk," he began, pulling out of his pocket a map of St. Mungo's. It flashed from different floors to make it more compact and easy to read. He wouldn't really plan an escape for Avis, as in--he wouldn't let her escape until she was all better, but they could have some fun,

"And you've got approximately three point seven seconds to get to the lift, and then you've got to duck under the potions cart that's passing...'

"That is really not far, Tomas Booth. Taunting me with the exits that I could have if only getting up from the bed didn't make me nauseous." Avis wasn't terribly good at this 'whiny pouting' routine that Erin seemed to have perfected at some point in her life, but at least she could try it on him. She huffed quietly and crossed her arms over her chest, arching her brow at him.

"If I really wanted to get out, I'm sure I could just oblivate whoever comes to the room next..." She paused, arching a brow at him, "or do you think they'd frown upon that sort of thing?" She'd have to say that yes, they probably would. Avis tapped her finger into the middle of the map. "See, it would be perfectly easy to apparate from there. It's where several protective fields conjoin, they likely wouldn't have it reinforced." Because apparating when you were ill was a fabulous idea.

No, really.
