Xavier liked spending time with Caspar, but he had a boyfriend and a best friend to spend time with too. Especially with his boyfriend. Xavier had to check that he didn't have any marks from Caspar, but he'd been the one doing most of the marking up. He felt guilty, but not guilty enough that when he saw a post on some blog about Cepheus Malfoy and James Potter shagging he didn't feel a flare of jealousy.

He was supposed to meet Elodie for lunch, but plans could be postponed. He texted her to tell her to come to hig flat instead of meeting at the restaurant and headed home, hoping Cepheus would be there. Cepheus hated James Potter. And Xavier wasn't allowed to be jealous. It was hypocritical. "Phe? You home?" he called.

Cepheus was sitting in the living room, flipping through channels on the television, trying to forget James Potter. It had been one slip up in two years, but he didn't feel guilty about it. Xavier had barely even texted him in the last bit.

He looked up from the television when he heart him and sighed. "Yeah. I'm home." He told him, flipping another channel. "Surprised to see you here."

"It is my flat," Xavier pointed out, smiling at Cepheus. So he and James Potter had been in a couple pictures together, so what? Cepheus was friends with Albus. That was normal. He took his coat off and leaned down to press a quick kiss to Cepheus's lips. "Sorry, did Elodie tell you I reconnected with an old friend she hates? I think he and Albus would love each other."

He sat beside Cepheus, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "So... Why were you hanging out with James Potter?" he asked, trying to be casual. "You hate him."

In all honesty, Cepheus was kind of annoyed with Xavier. Mostly because he'd been gone so often with some other bloke. Even if he had cheated on him, he'd had a reason for it. For Scorpius.

He pulled away from the arm and shrugged. "He was escaping the photographers, so I gave him a ride. Nothing important." He shot Xavier a glance. "But, you've been gone every time I've come home. So, perhaps I should be the one questioning you." He shook his head. "I found a flat. I'll be moving in Monday."

"What?" Xavier frowned at Cepheus a little, letting his arm drop. "I know you were looking for a flat, but isn't that a bit quick?" he asked. "You don't have to move out, you know. We've been together for two years."

And okay, there was the Caspar thing, but they'd said they were going to try being just friends. "I'm sorry I've been gone a lot this week. I've just been excited to spend time with Caspar. We should all go out together. Look, I know you weren't actually shagging Potter like the blogs are speculating, Phe. I trust you."

"You shouldn't. I fucked him." Cepheus informed Xavier with a frown. He looked him over for a moment, waiting to be punched or kicked out of the house. "He threatened to date Scorpius and I kissed him to take a photo of it and mail it to the paparazzi, but then it turned into more."

He looked at him and shook his head. "I love you with all my heart and I did that. I'm a shite boyfriend and I know you're going to dump me. So I got a flat."

Xavier stared at Cepheus, feeling... he wasn't sure how he was feeling. Not... guilty about shagging Caspar anymore, but not particularly like he wanted to confess that he'd done it either. Mostly he felt confused. Cepheus was frowning at him and he seemed so certain about everything.

"You... How did taking a picture of you kissing him turn into shagging?" Xavier asked. "I know he's a man-whore, but what would be so bad about him and Scorpius? This..." He frowned. "I just feel confused."

"I would do anything to keep my brother from getting hurt. James Potter would never do anything but shag him and leave him." Cepheus informed Xavier, shaking his head. "I love Scorpius, but he's not exactly smart about relationships. He's been in love with Albus for a long time now and he's just moved in with him. Knowing that Albus loves someone else."

He shook his head. "I would rather hurt than let Scorpius be hurt." He gave him a sad look. "I don't know how it turned into sex. I'm an idiot and I don't think things through."

"I'm not arguing that your brother isn't stupid about his heart," Xavier said. "I just think maybe he needs to get hurt to get over all the other things he's feeling." But he was letting himself get distracted.

"You're not an idiot. It's just... he's James Potter. Mister Most Charming Smile. And it... I don't know. Did I miss the picture of you two kissing? I didn't see that one."

"I --" Xavier stared at Cepheus with his blond curls and his big eyes and felt all his self-control collapse. He pulled Cepheus close to his chest, holding him tightly. "You're not disgusting," he promised. "I don't think you're disgusting."

He leaned down and kissed Cepheus softly. "James Potter isn't going to wreck us. We've been together for two years. We're too good to let him get in the way of that."

"Fuck." Xavier couldn't do this anymore. He pulled away from Cepheus, running a hand through his hair. "You're not unworthy, Cepheus. Look, I..."

He glanced at him. "You're going to want to move to your new flat after all. At least you just told me. I... when I ran into Caspar again I'd been drinking with Elodie, and we... I slept with him. Only once. I made sure he knew it couldn't happen again because I'm with you and I don't want that to change, but I'll understand if it does now."

Cepheus looked back at Xavier. He'd sat there and poured his heart out and Xavier was just now spilling his secrets? He lost it, bursting into tears, holding his face in his hands. It hurt. A lot. Over the years, he'd constantly heard golden stories about the talented, beautiful boy who had ran away.

"At least I hated the person I was with." Cepheus told him. "How the hell am I supposed to stack up to someone you talk about like they're the fucking second coming of Jesus?"

Xavier stared at Cepheus. He'd expected anger, not this, and this hurt way more. "I didn't... I don't want to be the guy who cheats on his boyfriend," he said. "You don't have to stack up to anyone, Cepheus. You're my boyfriend. You're the person I'm with. The person I've been trying to get to live with me."

He reached out and took Cepheus's hand in his. "I just want to be friends with Caspar. I didn't think... Fuck, I know I'm an idiot, Phe. I'm the one who's disgusting here."

Cepheus looked back at Xavier for a moment, then closed his eyes and took a breath. He leaned in and kissed Xavier softly, kissing him and crawling into his lap. He ran his fingers through his hair and pressed close, trying to show him how he felt about him.

"I love you." He whispered. "I want to live with you. Will you come look at the flat with me?" His fingers ran down Xavier's neck. "If you want to stay with me."

"No," Xavier said, shaking his head. He didn't have to think about the answer, because no matter what, no was always the best answer to that question, regardless of how good or bad Caspar had been. "I was drunk and over-whelmed that we'd found each other again. I don't have feelings for him like I do for you, Cepheus. I love you."

He kissed Cepheus, petting hair away from his face. "You're the only one for me. I promise. I don't want to be with anyone else."

Xavier nodded. "Of course," he said. "That's more than fair. It's a better deal that I expected to get after doing this, honestly." He touched Cepheus's curly hair. "I'll make sure Caspar knows I won't be spending time alone with him again."

He kissed him again, softly. "Elodie will make sure I don't do anything this stupid again too. She knows I hate the idea of hurting you."
