well lets see, i would have to say Amelia. it's a really small town south of here and it is so, so peaceful. I used to go there and skip school and just sit there in this field. I'd write and read. My favorite thing to do is walk around the town and listen to a full album of a band i don't really listen to. it's fun. :) what about you?

Amelia sounds lovely.
I do that with bands that I've neglected, too.
It's one of my favorite things to do.
I get tired of bands fast, so I love listening to something I rarely here.
I have 3 favorite places.
Yachats, Oregon. It's a really cool beach we have down south that is different from the typical long sandy/crowded beaches in northern oregon. There isn't much sand on the shoreline, it's mostly all big rocks. My dad and I would sit on the edge of the tall rocks, and watch the waves crash. When they hit the rock, it splashes high and loud, and you get misted with the cold salty water. We would sit there for hours just watching the waves hit. For some reason when we were there, we never thought about anything else, we rarely spoke, we would just sit in silence and watch life happen. It was his favorite place in the world, so I made it one of mine.
Lewiston, Idaho
Shitty town, shitty people. But I grew up there with my dad and my huge family. I went to school here in Oregon with my mom, but I spent about 4 months out of the year in Idaho with my dad, and thats where I really grew up. School was school and I never really fit in, but Idaho was the love of my life, and my brothers and sisters and my cousins were the only friends I ever cared about.
I miss my childhood and my father more than I miss anything in the whole world, and when I'm in Idaho I can feel the memories.
It hurts, but the pain is worth it.
Akumal, Mexico
Words cannot explain my love for this place.
Dirt roads. Locals. Salty air. The smell of fruit. No cars, just bikes. Bright colors.
Every year that we go here I'm the happiest that I've been in my entire life.
I mean its not the vacation thing, it's the place itself.
I would kill to live there and work in their marine conservation programs.
In fact, I might.

1. You know, come to think of it I've never tried it. Sounds yummy. I mean rice, pudding, both very tasty things. I've gotta try it and let you know what my opinion is haha.

2. That's a tough one. When I was little, i really wanted them to just like appear. Like BOOM, dinosaurs, everywhere. And I'd have one. God that'd be so amazing. But on the other hand, i feel like i'd be kinda scared to go into the woods. So I'm gonna say the thought of dinosaurs: yes. The actuality of them coexisting with me: no, not at all.

3. Coheed and Cambria. Five years strong. I don't know how I got introduced to them, i think it was my sister who had 'A Favor House Atlantic' on a mix cd and i loved it. But that's usually where people stop with CoCa. And that's cool and all. It just seems like you either hate them or you love them unconditionally. I know a lot of people cut them down and all about the high pitched singing but it really doesn't bother me anymore. They have such an original concept, it just blows my mind how creative and talented they are.

4. Damn. Let's see. If i had to narrow it down to my single favorite thing, it'd have to be boiled wontons. I don't eat them much anymore. I used to make them a lot with my mom. :)

5. A GOD DAMN KITTY. really. I've wanted one for so long, i've always wanted one. I mean a white tiger would be cool, if it promised not to kill me. hahah

6. Turkish Royals are number one. The only other cigarette i smoke is Camel Filters.

The dinosaur thing is so true. I wish I could be the only one with a dinosaur... and it always would listen. How cool would that be? & yeah I know a kid in my old class that did all the research on the story lines, and had all these notes figuring out what it all meant. It was pretty intense. dunno what boiled wontons are...

White tiger would be soo purdy.

Camels suck. You can still be cool though.

I enjoy my camels very much so, so thank you for still letting me be cool.

A wonton is kinda like a dumpling stuffed with different kinds of food. they're really good, especially during the winter.

you know what, patrick?
a conversation is a two way street.
and i'm losing interest.
if you don't answer my question i'm taking you off my friends list.
and it'll be REALLY hard to get back on my good side.
i hope you sense my sarcasm.
i forget you don't know me.
hi, i'm melanie. i'm a bitch but i love you most of the time.

you see, you got me all excited to find out where youre favorite place in the whole world, and you don't even have the decency to tell me.
every god damn day i wake up and i think, HEY, MAYBE PATRICK RESPONDED.
but of course... you let me down again.
you're letting me down kiddo.
we need to have a talk about this.
friends don't do that to friends.
friends respond to questions.
i realize it's only be three days.
but you see, i'm lonely.
i'm real lonely.
i need this answer and i need it fast.

i'm sleep deprived.

And i hope you can spare my stupidity and negligence, oh great one.

but seriously, i'm sorry.
so here's some questions for you guys...

1. Favorite band?
2. What's YOUR favorite place in the whole world, and why?
3. Have you ever had grits?
4. Do they teach anything about Jamestown and all that colonial shit in Oregon schools?
5. What do you think Virginia's like? I've always wanted to ask someone from a different state that question haha.
6. Obama 08? Yes we can?
7. Do you like jazz?
8. Tell me what the greatest song of all time is, and why.
9. Favorite book?

i hope you know i wasn't serious up there.
i tried to make my sarcasm clear.
i know you were busy.
it's okay. :)

1. I have a new favorite band almost every day. I'm not a music snob nor do i listen to a specific genre. I listen to whatever fits the moment right. I listened to Modest Mouse all day today. The Fruit That Ate Itself was the main album in particular. But truthfully I probably listened to the song "bury me with it" almost 20 times today.
Tomorrow will be a new band I'm sure. I don't have a favorite. I love everything for what it means to me. I still love the backstreet boys because of the memories. I love bright eyes because it reminds me of megan, and i love anything that reminds me of her laugh. i love rage against the machine because of their courage, and their views. i love ladytron because it reminds me of driving too fast with my boyfriend when we were young and dumb. the pixies are one of my favorite bands because they will forever remind me of october, and october is my favorite time of year... and because the pixies are amazing...
i could never narrow it down to one. know what i mean?

2. i answered that up there.

3. I haven't. Are they good?

4. I don't know. Probably. I never could pay attention in History. I remember learning about Jamestown in 5th grade, so I'm sure its still being taught.

5. I picture a small amount of deciduous trees, hot sun, dustyness, the color dirt and grass turn when they're really dry, small cities, and farms. I bet theres a wide variety of personalities, but nothing compared to up here.

6. I never really cared about Obama until recently actually. I read the most recent Rolling Stone interview and I got a really good vibe. I'm not a very political person and I don't care as much as I should about his personal beliefs and goals as I do about what he's like as a person. I've read a lot of interviews and seen him speak, and I don't agree with a lot of things he says, but I enjoy him as a person and i really do trust him. I feel like he's a good man with a lot of enthusiasm for change. I'm down.

7. I do, actually. I like smooth jazz. There was a really good station up here but the ratings weren't good enough so it changed to some classic rock station like everything else just a few weeks ago. Huge bummer.

8. Hellifiknow. I can tell you that "hey" by the pixies brings me to tears. But it would never bring you the same emotion.
I really like Perfect Disguise by modest mouse because it reminds me so much of lake oswego, and a certain person I know that lives here.
you know, modest mouse's song "missed the boat" is one of the best songs i know of because of what it's about. i really respect them for writing it. its about them selling out, and how much they regret it. it's almost an apology, but its mostly them saying how much they wish they could go back. it also kind of disses on the fans in the beginning too which i think takes some courage hahaha. i love the words of it. once you understand what he's saying, you can really feel it. it's pretty funny that the song is such a hit too with all of his "new" fans. most of them think it's a love story. i could go on an on about my number one songs...but i think you'd fall asleep.
i think "the greatest song of all time" is a personal opinion and i could never tell you what it is. do you have one?

9. tuesdays with morrie, and the perks of being a wallflower.
tuesdays with morrie is really deep meaningful. i got really in to philosophy after reading that.
and i love the way The Perks is written. I love his tone, his emotion... everything. I've read it 8 times and I never plan on stopping. It puts me in a deep, intrapersonal mood.

hablas espanol?

Si, hablo espanol. que pasa en su casa?

Grits are amazing. Their kind of like cream of wheat but not a thick. Every time i order them at Waffle House, Megan makes jokes about how they look like throw up. Not cool. :(

I was just curious about the whole Jamestown thing. I know they don't teach it New Jersey, my pen pal Aryana has never heard of Jamestown or Williamsburg, or anything colonial for that matter.

I love your description of Virginia. A lot more than the actual one haha. Let's see if i can clear it up at all. Trees, yes, but there seem to be fewer and fewer. All this damn building they do now. I mean I just wish they would stop building here because it used to be so beautiful here and now, everywhere you look there's a strip mall, there's a change restaurant, it's another god damn gas station. I mean i love the city too, I really do. I just miss seeing so much greenery. So let's see, it gets so fucking humid here in the summer. You can feel it just leaning near a window and putting your face close. Getting into Megan's car is horrible. What I hate most about this area is it's all fucking suburbs. I hate it. It's stupid, it's fucking dumb, houses EVERYWHERE. if it's not a church, gas station, chain restaurant/store, it's a neighborhood.

About Obama, I really think you nailed it on the head for me. so true. I mean there are a load of things i don't agree on but as presence is amazing. I trust him, I think he's a lot more capable than anyone else we've had in a while. so I wanna see how it goes.

I guess the greatest song of all time really has to be all about the moment. The right song to fit the right moment. I love it when you play a song because you think it'll fit the current feel of everything and it does. It does so perfectly. And you have chills because it's just so "right". A lot of times I'll imagine I'm in a movie when that happens. Because you know in really kickass movies, the songs are played exactly at the right moments, so I just picture it. It's one of my favorite feelings and i don't know if anyone else knows about it. Now everyone does, i guess. hahaha

I need to read tuesdays with morrie, my mom's been telling me to for a while. She loves it and she never ever reads. And of course The Perks. Where can I start with the Perks. Pure genius. I've read six times and I know what you mean. It's a book I'll probably die with.

1. This is a hard question. Bands I listen to most... NIN, E nomine, Pink Floyd... can't forget Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and Postal Service.
2. My favorite place in the world I haven't been or have yet located.. but so far is a small town called New Meadows in Idaho. I don't know if it's the location or just the feel I get from being there, makes you feel free in a way.
3. no, I remember hearing something about them though.
4. probably.
5. I picture Virginia being hot. for some reason like a bunch of open feilds. that's pretty much it.
6. I don't know yet.
7. Not really anymore. Gives me bad vibes.
8. Okkervil River - For Real [look up the video on youtube]
9. Matilda - Raul Daul [sp], It's really the only book I can remember really loving. That and The Series of Unfortunate Events. I haven't read more than this cpu screen in a long time... cept for school work.

I'm late on all the action! Btw. I'm Megan yellow and I've known your girlfriend for 10 years.
We used to dress up and play barbies together.

1. Favorite band?-- Pink Floyd, Postal Service, The Shins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Death Cab For Cutie, Led Zep, Bob Marley and Norah Jones.

2. favorite place: Pololu Valley in Hawaii. Beautiful valley right on the beach. Best place to camp, a huge hike down and a even bigger hike up. Roughing it camping really makes me happy. It's away from EVERYTHING, which makes me feel balanced and content.

3. Have you ever had grits?-- No, they look like mush.. right?

4. I think so... No clue actually.

5. I went a couple years back to DC, and some guy grabbed my ass in a huge crowd of people, not cool. But the museums were pretty cool... I did the whole tourist thing so I have no idea what Virginia is actually like.

6. Obama 08? Yes we can?-- Hope so.

7. Do you like jazz?-- Some.

8. Tell me what the greatest song of all time is, and why.-- New Slang, The shins. Seriously did change my life.

9. Favorite book?-- Brave New World or 1984. I like books about dystopias that psychologically manipulate their people and have too much power invested in the government...

Oregon is the best place in the world. The people, the trees, the atmosphere. Everything.
