The air is THIN up here....
Everything had been checked and double-checked. Marlow had practiced the spell until she could see the runes in her mind in just the places she wanted them. It was going to be GREAT. She'd help the team by increasing her own size for limited periods so she wouldn't just be a puny human sorceress learning to fight. She'd be an /Asgardian/ sized sorceress and really show the bad guys who they had to watch out for in a fight.

Sitting on the grass in front of her bungalow, she closed her eyes and recited the words and waited.

She didn't feel anything. Not a thing. There should've been some sort of sensation when her body became bigger, but everything seemed fine. With a sigh, she mentally prepared herself to work on the spell some more and try again later.

When she opened her eyes, a sense of euphoria and wrongness filled her. She was looking down at a body that wasn't hers. The spell had worked, sort of, but... whose body was it?

Svalin had been in the stables working on brushing Tryggvi when a wave of dizziness hit her. She blinked a few times but it got worse. She closed her eyes against it and when she opened them she found herself sitting outside one of the bungalows.

Something was off. She didn't /feel/ right for some reason. She looked around and didn't see anything. For some reason her eyesight wasn't as good as it normally was and her hearing seemed muted as well. She looked down and saw that she was dressed differently.

Marlow's deep thinking, which wasn't /all/ that painful, was interrupted when Tryggvi brushed against her. She reached out to grab onto the horse for balance. "Hey... how did I get..." A look around didn't give her a shiny surface to look in, but a grab at the hair around her neck told her it was blond. She wasn't supposed to be blond. She wasn't supposed to be wearing these clothes. She wasn't supposed to be in the stables with Svalin's....horse...

"I have to find .... ME!" Stumbling, she ran out of the stables toward the main house.

	Brown hair blew into her face and Svalin brushed it back. Wait. Brown. Her hair was not brown. She stood up and noticed her vantage point was different. This was not good. She ran into the bungalow and into the bathroom. Marlow's face stared back at her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Marlow burst into the front entry and caught sight of herself in the large mirror. Oh no, she was Svalin! Vernique was going to be mad. Sydney was going to be mad. Aridis might think it was funny, but then she'd be mad.

"HELP!" she yelled.

Wait...she'd been at her bungalow. Maybe Svalin was there in her body. She couldn't have possibly bungled it for three bodies, could she?

She ran back out the door and to the bunglow.

She tried for a simple light illusion spell and the normal brilliant sparkles were faded and slow to appear. "This is going to take some work," she said with sigh. "But I'll get started on it now." "Let me see if I can do it myself first. I might need you to help explain it to Dr. Strange if we need help. In the meantime, could you...not damage me? You're really tough and I'm not." She blew out a dejected sigh that looked foreign on the face she wore. "I was trying to find a spell to make me bigger and tougher for fighting. I'm always in the back casting spells. I want to be more than a magic trick for the team."

"It can't be any harder than magic," Marlow said, perhaps unwisely. There had never been a time in her life she didn't have magic at her beck and call. Bending it to her will had been hard work many times, but it had always been /there/. "I'll let you know if we need more. It probably isn't an idea to let it get out that I did this to you. They might think it was a plot or something."

	It was an odd sight to see Svalin with slumped shoulders and a general air of apology. Even more odd to hear Marlow's speech patterns delivered in her voice. "It was a mistake and I'm going to fix it as soon as I can," she promised the Defenders and Sydney. "I won't try that spell again. At least," she amended, "not without a lot more prep work." That was probably the most embarrassing thing she had to admit. It was one thing to tell Svalin that she wanted to take a bigger role in Defending the Frontier... whoops, that was from the Last Starfighter (she'd recently made the lateral move from cult horror flicks to cult science fiction), it was another to admit to the rest of the team that she was feeling inadequate. Marlow knew she had the magic down. She just wanted to do...more.

"I was trying to find a spell to make me bigger and stronger. To give me more options other than which dimension did I want to banish the bad guy to and what would eat him on that end."

	Kael hadn't known Marlow long enough to make any kind of judgement like that, so he just assumed it was a battlefield strategy. "Spells can be rather literal in regards to their incantations. What were the words used in the casting?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
