Going Green
Anya didn't mind flying on planes, but feeling like she had spent the better part of the past year on planes flying from one place to another, she just didn't feel like taking one down to New Orleans to talk to one Mr. Corey Drake. Instead she called Irina and had the woman come to Boston to take Anya to New Orleans. It was nice using a teleporter's abilities once in awhile.

Irina had a few errands to run in Boston, she said it was to pick up some certain foodstuffs for Corey, but after she was done they headed to New Orleans. Irina went to get Corey while Anya took a seat at one of the chairs at the counter of the bar. Where her team the TBolts had refurbished an old firehouse into their headquarters, the Champions had refurbished an old night club. Ironically it used to be called The Red Room.

Anya sat and looked over her insanely full schedule while she waited for Corey.

Corey was giggling over tonight's menu. "This is going to be -- Oh, Hi, Anya! Can I get you anything?"

Anya frowned when she saw she had a meeting with Gates later in the week. Maybe the guy was afraid Ren Tech's new OS was going to take off especially seeing how Windows 8 was just called a disaster.

She looked up from the handheld and gave Corey a smile. "Water, please. Sorry for just dropping in, but Irina assured me that you'd be available to talk."

He gets her some water. "I can totally talk. You should stay for dinner. We're having a seafood extravaganza."

Anya accepted the water and took a long drink. "Thank you. If that's an invitation I will totally accept. I haven't had a decent home-cooked meal in quite sometime."

"Great. So what's up?"

"Thanks. So my company, Renaissance Technology recently developed Zero Point Energy technology. It's clean and practically limitless energy. We're slowly adapting it for different commercial uses, including automobiles and planes. Which reminds me," she said and made a note on her handheld. "I need to convert your headquarters over and the headquarters of other teams over. Sorry. Anyway, while money isn't the main reason I'm doing this, my company stands to make a lot of money from this. While I could give moeny to the Maria Stark Foundation, I was interested in creating or finding a charitable foundation that's dedicated to environmental causes. This foundation would grant money to environmental causes around the globe. I figured you'd be the person I need to talk to."

She smiled.

"Or possibly hire to run it."

And Corey smiles. "That. Sounds. AWESOME."

Anya smiled. She always appreciated people with enthusiasm. "Which part? The foundation or the job offer?"

"Particularly the former, but the latter is all intriguing and stuff."

"I figured that if I was going to do one thing to help the environment, I may as well do more. Hence the foundation. I was thinking Terra Nova for a name. It'll be run by a board like the Maria Stark Foundation is, however, I would like someone to advise them. Someone who is into environmental causes and not just into sitting on a board."

"Please let me know what your salary requirements will be," she said. "You'll technically be a consultant, but I'll make sure you have full benefits of a full employee. Health, dental, 401k and all that jazz."

"Okay, I'm going to need to check with my dad about what exactly a 401K really does, but about $22,000'd be really nice it's going to come up to full time work."

Anya blinked. She wasn't exactly expecting that number. It was...well below what she had in mind. "A 401K is a retirement fund. It never hurts to start early."

"It'll be a good amount of work and you should be thoroughly compensated for all that you do. My father always told me you should always know what you're worth and never undersell yourself."

Anya turned to her handheld and put a number on the screen. She held it up for Corey could see. "That's what I was thinking."

It was just over 100k.

"Of course. I'll have a formal offer letter drafted up and sent to you. I'm going to be setting up the foundation in the next few weeks and once it's up it'll be your turn to work. Until then, I'm sure there's quite a bit of research and whatnot you want to do. I'll have a new laptop delivered so you have the tools you need. If there's anything else you need, just let me know."
