When Black Beetles Battle Blue Beetles, it's a Black and Blue Beetle Battle Boggle!
Gotham Heights was a pleasant suburban community, just outside of Gotham City proper. Close enough that the locals claimed they were Gothamites, but just far enough away to be free of the crime and corruption that characterized the city proper. Many of the most prosperous citizens of Gotham City made their home there. It was a good place. The kind of community you would want your children to grow up in.

It was a place of green lawns and white picket fences and sprawling large estates and homes, gated communities. The Gotham Heights Technical Academy and Gotham Heights College Preparatory attracted only the best of students.

It was a place that was about to be beset by death. Dual Black Lanterns flew threw the air to the home of one Ted Kord and his wife.

The first, wearing chain mail and a fin, looked out upon the house and grimaced. It held up a hand and unleashed a crackling bolt of power, blowing away a top floor window and a good section of the roof.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!"

	One of the good things about having living in a house with two technological geniuses? Very advanced security systems. Bolts of electricity would surge through the Black Lanterns' bodies. 	"I'd rather play checkers, but that;s just me," said Ted as he grabbed his wife and carried her bridal style away from the attack. But with a quick look at the open door to the bedroom that had been opened, Teds eyes widen. He doesn't stop moving, but he is surprised and saddened by what he sees. "It's Dan and Jaime, Barbara." "Time to go sweetie," Ted says as he arms the second part of the defenses. In a second, the basement becomes isolated from the rest of the house. Its is now a large panic room, with only a handful of connections to the outside world.

Ted puts his wife into her chair downstairs, and once that is done he sits down heavily himself.

"Its Dan and Jaime. They...they died. Dear God in heaven."

"We always do," Ted said, trying his best to smile. He knows that its bad. He remembers something like this happening when he was younger, the dead returning to life. So Ted grabs one of his spare BB guns and begins to fiddle with it.

"Now, we have work to do. Get a hold of who you need to. And so you know, I love you."

These things were not getting his wife. They were not getting his daughter.

There are no wisecracks, no words from Ted Kord. No jokes or barbs.

This is Ted Kord at his most focused.

That BB gun he was tinkering with? He had increased its power fivefold and was wired into the generator that was running the whole basement. So he turned the gun on the nearest Black Lantern and blasted.

"You stay away from my wife."

"You are not Dan Garrett. You are not Jaime Reyes. Get out," Ted says as he twists a nob on the BB gun. All the light and sound is now a concentrated blast.

He now has a hypersonic laser. And its good for about ten shots before the generator is overwhelmed. So he carefully aims and fires at the two things claiming to be his mentor and successor.

	There is no response from Ted. This is a man he had loved like a father, and that thing pretending to be him doesn't know a damn thing. It had taken her too long to get here. Seeing the ruins of her house gave Dinah a moment of serious panic. The only thing that saves her from this is the Scarab doing a lifeform count and coming up with a total of three. It had to be her parents and Riley.

It identified two other energy sources of some kind; those had to be Black Lanterns.

She swooped down. "GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MY PARENTS!"

Dual cannons fired photonic bursts at the Garett Lantern.

Ted hasily helps set the BeeBee gun next to the regenerating masses. They had to work fast, but it was simply a matter of overload. Its not an issue. Ted grabs his wife, carrying her into the apex of the time Sphere, before turning around.

"Buggy, Riley, take care of each other. It'll be a hell of a fight, but I have faith in you two. Just pull the trigger on the beebee gun and get away as fast as you can. You have about five seconds."

Ted backs up, allowing the mechanisms of the Time Sphere do its thing.
