Making the Calls @ 07:41 pm

[info]masterofmatter:

It has to be done. It has to. If this crap continues on, it won't be good for any of them. Not just for Jai, who has to be going through issues. Not just for Traya, who he had been avoiding ever since he confessed there may be more than just friendship. And not just for him. So he finds a place that is open but deserted. The Ivy University Architecture and Engineering Study Rooms, on the first floor.

After holding his phone for several minutes, he begins to type out a message.

I hate doing this over text, but this needs to get resolved. Meet me in the Ivy U Arch&Engin stufy rooms 1st floor.

Then he scrolled down to the J's, casually noting the lack of names. In fact, Jai was the only one and he put it in on a whim. He didn't even know if it was a current number not. Then he clicked the box and scrolled down to the T's and clicked on Traya.

And away the messages go. Michael hopes this won't be a big mistake. He really does.

The Big Finale @ 09:18 pm

[info]dc_misc:

The city of Star City looked deserted. The citizens had either fled or had been turned into black lanterns. At the heart of the city was the entity known as Nekron. Nekron used the city as his base as his black lanterns ravaged the Earth.

The black lanterns increased their numbers each day and the power levels of the black lantern battery increased with each person that died.

Soon Nekron would have enough power to obliterate all life on this planet.

Sunset over Metropolis @ 07:54 pm

[info]black_lantern:

The sun was just setting in the western sky as night settled in over Metropolis. Along with night came another form of darkness, one more sinister and evil. The black lanterns move through the city looking for victims to rip hearts out of and add to their numbers.

When it rains, it pours. (Morgaine & Jane) @ 08:04 pm

[info]hunters_moon:

Merlyn falls from two stories up, slamming through the glass skylight and landing in the pool of the youth center below and has the presence of mind to thank whatever deity rules over this part of the world that it wasn't concrete he slammed into. Granted, with the number of crazy people chasing him right now, he didn't have a lot to be thankful for, but being alive was one blessing he would count over and over again.

He climbs out of the water as quickly as he can, ignoring the sting of his cuts and bruises. One week ago, he'd left Coast City, going on the run after confessing to anyone who would listen that he, and not Green Arrow, murdered the psychopath known as the Artist. Robert didn't care if they wanted him to pay for killing a murderer; laws and courts didn't really appeal or apply to him. The only justice he needed came at the end of an arrow.

Unfortunately, he'd run into another psychopath, two days later, that believed in the same things he did. Only, this psychopath wanted /him/ dead at the end of her sword.

It was rather ironic that his adopted brother's sister was the woman trying to kill him, because Robert killed her father. But even more irksome is that, after nine months of alternately fighting and escaping this particular woman....Robert Queen /still/ does not know her name He suggested to her that she was playing hard to get.

She tried to throw her dagger through his heart.

Funny. That line worked on Jane, once...

The Battle For Oa @ 09:36 pm

[info]green_lantern:

They appeared out of nowhere in space above Oa. The element of surprise was with them and for a brief moment there were no black lanterns to be seen.

"Alright boys and girls, it's time to do this. We win here or the universe dies."

No pressure at all.

Doctor's Orders @ 07:26 pm

[info]night_owl:

With the whole world going to Hell Kyle hadn't really had time to react to or deal with it. He was to busy working to save lives working in the emergency room. He hadn't given himself a break since he started his shift and he was now in overtime.

In a couple hours he probably would have to let himself crash. He wouldn't be of any help to anyone if he didn't and likely to make stupid mistakes that could have otherwise been avoided.

He was going around making his rounds and checking up on old patients before he started up on new ones again.

It Tolls For Thee @ 11:56 pm

[info]sonoftheatom:

Dinadan Palmer straightens up, stepping off the back of Thomas Dinawa, the older man's heart in his hand. The Lighter Than Air Society had holed themselves up in Professor Kettering's basement again, like they almost always did. It had made them very easy to find, and the fact that each and every one of them had babysat him made them easy to dispose of. Dinadan has the vague sensation that he ought to say something pithy, but with the cessation of that bubbling noise he doesn't have an audience left to appreciate it. So he says nothing, but walks across the blood-slicked floor to the telephone.

This has been a good start, but there's someone special he thinks he ought to go look in on. He dials Petra's number without hesitation, the dead not having the worries and distractions of the living to cloud their memories.

After Petra, New Morlaidh, he thinks as he raises the phone to his ear. Won't Mother be surprised.

The phone rings.

The Dead are from Mars, the Living are from Saturn @ 09:19 pm

[info]thesonsdaughter:

Since her arrival on Earth some months back, Jenn had kept a relatively low profile, the only people she had really seen much of regularly were "Uncle" J'onn and J'anna.  Recent upheavals, with the awakening of J'anna's mother and J'anna's own death had only served to isolate the Saturnian princess further.

Home was on the other end of the solar system, still eclipsed by rising civil war.  The news was grim.  Her father had yet to recover and the rebels attacks were growing more and more fierce.

For the moment, she flew over the city, on her way to see J'onn J'onzz.  She hated to intrude upon his private moments, especially now with the death of his daughter, but she needed something familiar.

Running on Empty @ 05:04 pm

[info]bloodred_robin:

Tim Drake has been hard at work for the last two days, rarely eating or sleeping since J'anna's death. Frank Wells was dead, so he couldn't have arranged this kind of sick surprise. Tim combed his memories for the extensive list of people who could know his identity and put something like this together. The resources necessary for this kind of psychological warfare were above and beyond those of most of his enemies, but there were a few who could still pull it off. But then it took a special kind of psycho to /want/ to do something like this at all.

Making Deputies @ 11:52 am

[info]green_lantern:

The group of lanterns were gathered around in a circle not far from the North Pole. Larfleeze was practically bouncing that they were so close to the Fat Man's workshop and Dex swore he would punch the orange lantern just to make him stand still for longer than two seconds. They had business to attend to first and then they could talk to the Fat Man about getting Larfleeze the promised presents.

They were going to create two rings of each color to help in the fight against the Black Lanterns. They would make more, but as it was the rings were only at half power. They would have to make do with what they had until they could find a way to get to Oa and see why the rings were depowered.

Dex looked around the circle. Each color had two more rings, red had three, added to the ranks. It was time to send them out. He nodded and the newly created rings were thrown up into the air. They immediately took off and started seeking out wearers.

Paint It Black (JSA) @ 07:12 pm

[info]dc_misc:

It was a quiet night in New York City. People went about their business, rushing on the streets to get home, hailing taxis to get out of the brisk winter air. At the JSA Brownstone, all was well and good.

Then something happened. The sound of shattered glass could be heard shattering, and alarm klaxons blared. The team would soon find that Black Lanterns had arrived, and were closing in on the team of heroes.

A Night of No Stars (Tim) @ 02:08 pm

[info]burningmartian:

It was a rare night when patrol--for both Tim and J'anna--was shorter than the usual so they decided to take advantage of it with a quiet night in: dinner, some dvds, and then quality time (snuggling included.)  They were already well into part two of their evening, with J'anna curled up on the couch with Tim, a big bowl of popcorn on the coffee table and one of the old black and white romances J'anna seemed permanently enchanted with on the television.  J'anna herself was about half asleep and she suspected Tim was, too.

That's when she heard a noise.

"Tim, did you hear that?"

"I was just attacked by zombies." "Really? You too?" @ 01:17 pm

[info]rightontarget:

Damien had gone with her to about a couple of blocks away from Outsiders HQ, leaving Lian to make the rest of the way by herself. Lian moved slowly, keeping an eye for any of the things that had attacked her and Damien.

When she got to Outsiders Headquarters, the first thing she noticed when she walked into the building was that it looked like it had seen a beating. A pretty big beating. Also, she had to hold to something to keep from wobbling and falling over.

"Anyone here?" She called out. "Cal? You around?" She normally was.

Black Winds @ 02:30 pm

[info]tiny_tornado:

With the attack on the Young Justice League itself and reports of attacks coming in from the homes of various other teams and heroes, the need to make certain that their families were safe had never been greater.  While Traya tried to force herself to believe that there was little to worry about--her parents were both alive, as was T.O. Morrow--she couldn't help but feel uneasy.

She supposed the Black Lantern version of Jai could still be out there.  Knew it was, really, if what the Lanterns had said was right. But her daddy alone could have kicked that monster's butt. If she was there too, then there would be no problem at all.

"Traya..."

She slowed down for a moment. She was certain she'd heard something in the wind. A voice, calling her name.

Traya gathered the winds around her, carrying any near-by sounds. She was over New York City; there were plenty sounds of the city about her, lots of little voices too. Most of it was an incomprehensible babble.

"Traya..."

There. There it was again. And it had said more this time too, but in a language she didn't understand. She
thought
it sounded Arabic or maybe... A couple of the girls in the Biaylan Student Association had been teaching her a few simple phrases in Biaylan, but she wasn't even remotely close to fluent.

She dropped out of the sky and landed on a rooftop. Traya concentrated on the winds again, drawing more and more sounds to her on the air. She could swear...

"Traya..."
A second voice this time, but in that same language as the first...

"Who's there?" she demanded. "What's going on?!"

Night Of The Living Dead (YJLA) @ 12:39 pm

[info]dc_misc:

At the Hall of Justice, where the YJLA was currently taking refuge, everything seemed calm and quiet. In spite of the recent Black Lantern attacks, the team seemed to be holding up well, and many of the members were currently resting and recovering from helping out with various relief efforts.

Yes, all seemed well and good for the Young Justice League...

Outside, a dark cloud grew over the Hall of Justice...and a horde Black Lanterns closed in on the Young Justice League.

The Quest for Orange @ 11:16 am

[info]green_lantern:

After they were done checking on Rose's grandmother and brother and dealing with the Black Lanters, Rose and Dex regrouped with the other lanterns. Then it was time to go after that bastard Larfleeze. Dex had wanted another shot at him since Christmas when the bastard was at the North Pole.

The trip to Okaara where Larfleeze was rumored to be holed up was quiet. The uneasy truce between the colors didn't encourage talking. The less words said the better. It only took a few to start a fight and right now it was the last thing they needed.

"Anyone got any ideas?" Dex asked as they approached Okaara.

Terra-connected @ 10:11 pm

[info]terra_mater:

The Outsiders Headquarters had been empty, save for one person, for the past few days. Everyone else had been out and about, which was perfectly fine with Calypso. She needed time to think things through about her father, Brion Markov. Ever since she was a little girl, she never felt any inclination to get to know him. She never wanted to be a part of his life.

But when he was in trouble, she jumped at the chance to help him. And then she met him in person, and it was like nothing she had experienced before. She felt some sense of security in the part of her family that was attached to the surface world above Strata. Little did she know, however, that was overdue for a little family bonding with her long-dead aunt, Tara Markov.

She did know, however, that something was off when the earthen walls around her began to violently tremble.

Something Wicked This Way Comes @ 02:28 am

[info]black_lantern:

Morgan le Fey was back one of those black rings had found enough of her remains after the Demon had killed her to bring her back. It sought to control her but a simple black trinket couldn’t control Morgan le Fey of the Elder Folk with the amount of magic she controlled. Still it was annoying and nagging and she didn’t mind taking a few hearts along the way so long as she could complete her goal.

Even with all her great power and the power of the ring now at her disposal she had been foiled enough not to underestimate those damnable heroes. She needed a distraction to draw their focus away from her and what she was up to.

Flying over the city of London she began to weave her spell speaking in tongues even older than the first settlement man had ever made there in London back before it was ever known as such. Soon a gateway appears on the ground below her glowing with dark magics. Pouring forth from the gate her army of darkness like she used on Camelot all those many years ago. Though this time they reeked with decay and death and bore the symbol of the Black Lanterns upon them though were not Black Lanterns themselves.

“Lay this city to waste,” She commands her army as she flies off to take care of her other business. That should prove to be more than enough of a distraction for anyone who might sense what she was up too.

Umm...mmm, brains? @ 11:50 pm

[info]daughteroftroy:

Lily looked at her neck in a mirror she had managed to find.

Mitzi had helped with the slowing of the wound where her "brother" had bitten her, but it was still growing...slowly. And it didn't exactly look pleasant. Her skin on her neck looked like it was rotting, and while it hurt a lot less than when she was first bitten, there was still a throbbing pain.

Not to mention that it itched like hell.

For now, the Titans were safe in the hangar in the hangar at Kord...but for how long?

Lily knew one thing, though. If she was going down, she wasn't going down without a fight.

At Kord @ 01:16 am

[info]bobblehead:

Pippi did her best to heal the people she could. As usual, she could speed things a long a little, make pain go away, but it was hard again, not like things back at the tower.

It wasn't fair - if hurting people was easy, fixing them should be easier, not the other way around.

She plays with her new Rottweiler for a little bit, letting him keep the goalie mask on top of his head. He seems to like it. It also keeps her out of the way, and gives her something to hug. She always heard that petting a kitty or puppy would make things better - but Cait was still dead, and she'd still hurt all those people. They were dead, and trying to kill her - and hugs and healing didn't fix them, no matter how hard she tried or how much she wanted them to.

Finally, once she's been out of the way for long enough, she tells the Rottweiler to keep an eye on her stuff, then she grabs Dingo's helmet, and goes to try and find Dinah.

When Black Beetles Battle Blue Beetles, it's a Black and Blue Beetle Battle Boggle! @ 04:30 pm

[info]black_lantern:

Gotham Heights was a pleasant suburban community, just outside of Gotham City proper.  Close enough that the locals claimed they were Gothamites, but just far enough away to be free of the crime and corruption that characterized the city proper.  Many of the most prosperous citizens of Gotham City made their home there.  It was a good place.  The kind of community you would want your children to grow up in.

It was a place of green lawns and white picket fences and sprawling large estates and homes, gated communities.  The Gotham Heights Technical Academy and Gotham Heights College Preparatory attracted only the best of students.

It was a place that was about to be beset by death.  Dual Black Lanterns flew threw the air to the home of one Ted Kord and his wife.

The first, wearing chain mail and a fin, looked out upon the house and grimaced.  It held up a hand and unleashed a crackling bolt of power, blowing away a top floor window and a good section of the roof.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!"

Shortly after the meeting with the YJLA, Rose pulled Dex aside and asked him if he'd go with her to check on her grandma and younger brother, Jimmy, before they went with the rest of the Lanterns to look for Larfleeze and the orange rings. Normally, she would just go by herself, but with her ring not working properly, and Black Lanterns running amok, she felt it was only wise to have someone else along.

"I'll make this quick," Rose said to Dex as they reached her apartment building in Suicide Slums in Metropolis. "I just want to check up on Grandma and Jimmy real quick."

Bruce Wayne flew over Wayne Manor and landed at the front door. He turned the knob and walked in, only to be greeted by a growling dog. Ace, the dog that stood at his side for so many years, now showed his teeth at Bruce's walking corpse. It was greeted by an uncharacteristic, cracked smile.

"
Rage," Bruce commented. "It never did take much to set you off, Ace. But its time to heel, boy."

...

Later, down in the Bat Cave, Bruce Wayne sat in his chair and faced his large computer. Ace was at his side, covered in the shadows. Everything seemed... normal.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice... @ 03:23 pm

[info]tiny_tornado:

Years ago, the Hall of Justice had been the Earthbound headquarters of the Justice League, the compliment to an orbiting satellite portion.  It had eventually been discontinued as a headquarters, but the museum portion remained and much of the equipment was still present, usable as a back-up location.  Located in Washington DC, where the All-Star Squadron had once had their own headquarters, it remained a popular tourist destination.

Traya had spent a lot of time here, once upon a time, when her father had been damaged and stored in the computer system.

It was to here that she and Michael had come, to get the warning out to everyone else.

The headquarters portion was dusty, but Traya whisked it all away with a couple of well placed gusts and got the computer systems running.

"This is Whirlwind of the Young Justice League, to anyone reachable by this message.  Firestorm and I have encountered a zombie version of Kid Flash.  We defeated him, but we don't... we don't know if there are more of them...   YJLA HQ is wrecked.  We are requesting anyone available converge upon the Hall of Justice... repeat..."

Jane had been in a bar that night. Getting information for one of her cases. She had noted that she had been drinking harder stuff lately. Knowing her friend was gone had done a lot to Jane. She had been more willing to dance on the edge, more willing to take risks. It was hard trying to not be stupid.

But she was happy she got that information. She was going to shut down a gun runner who had been pressuring a mechanic to let him run his stuff out of her shop. She had all the intelligence she needed to make her move.

She stopped when she was outside near her car and shook her head.

"Sure does feel dark outside. Darker than normal for Gotham. What gives?"

Didn't I kill you? @ 06:18 pm

[info]underthehood:

Marcus was pretty close to being prepared to lay low for a while given the events of the past couple weeks. He just needed to lock down a few more safe houses and weapons caches he had set up throughout the city.

It wasn’t so much that he was scared about what might happen if he stayed to deal with this it was more of a logistics thing. It was a lot of people to plan for takeout before they could take him out and over all this seemed like a better plan and besides he could scare stupid criminals in another city for a while which could be fun.

Stagg Manor

It had been a while since Joey had been home, so to speak.  Not since he'd hooked up with his Outsiders buds.  And he had to admit, Grandpa Simon had definitely been wrong about super-heroes.  It had been a blast fighting the bad guys and saving the day.

He wondered if that meant that Grandpa had been wrong about his dad too.  Then again, why hadn't he called or tried to visit?

And now it was too late to figure any of it out.

He dropped his bag as he closed the door.

"Hello?  Anybody home?"

Things weren't the same without Jai. And while there were some days when she just wanted to just go to her room and cry, she knew she couldn't. She had to be strong.

For her team. For her family. Cerdian, Cait, and Jai wouldn't have allowed themselves to crack under pressure, so neither would she.

Iris came home from patrol that night to an empty house.

"Mom? Dad? Anybody home?"

Frisco Blues (Titans) @ 12:18 am

[info]dc_misc:

It started as any other morning in San Francisco. The sun came up in the East and people climbed from the beds to start their day.

The Titans in Titans Tower were starting their day. Their new sister team from the East were visiting for a meeting to discuss the current situation. While they were inside making plans, the waters of the Pacific started to churn. Waves kicked up and dark clouds blocked out the light of the sun.

The water quickly pulled back from the shore and things were calm for the briefest of moments. Then a huge tsunami crashed ashore and water flooded the lower half of the city.

He's still not happy with them yet -- having to take time off for recovery had played merry havoc on his exercise routine -- but he has homework that needs to get done and, since his father's out of town tonight, he's in charge of making his own dinner. He thinks about calling Petra and going over there for dinner, but...homework. He really needs to do his homework first, before he calls Petra, or else he'll get distracted.

He rolls his head from side to side, stretching the kinks out of his neck, then lays his sword down on the grass and begins going through his post-exercise stretches, his mind focused on organizing his evening's plans.

Voices in my head @ 09:54 pm

[info]allednis_arataz:

"Will you all please be quiet so that I can read, please?" Sindella said, grabbing a hold of her head, massaging her temples.

Ever since Superman's death, they had gotten louder. The dead. Over the years, Sindella had grown used to "hearing voices" in her head. She was normally pretty good at tuning them out when she wanted to, too. But lately...she was having a harder time with it.

"My wife...I never got to tell my wife how much she really meant to me. Do you think she knows that I love her?"

"We never found my son's teddy bear...he won't be able to sleep without it. Oh he must be so scared..."

"Please. Please stop!" Sindella's hands covered her ears, though she knew it wouldn't help much. "I can't think!"

There was still the roar of voices.

And then..suddenly it stopped.

Though something didn't feel quite right about it.

Sindella reached out for the one voice that she always knew that she could rely on.

"Grandpa John? Are you there? Can we talk?"

Nothing.

"Anyone? Hello?"

Something was wrong. She could feel it.

Memories Come Back to Haunt You @ 09:40 pm

So much death and destruction in the world lately.  So many heroes who had died.  Superman.  The Blue Beetle.  Metamorpho.  Cait.  Cerdian.  Jai.

It just seemed like the world was heading to hell in a hand basket.  The darkness encroaching in.

But she couldn't believe that.  Couldn't.  They were the heroes.  They always won.  Good would always triumph over evil, so long as they held onto hope.   Just like her dad always told her.  No matter what happened, you kept right on trying until you got it right.

She leaned back and sighed.  No major emergencies that required responding to since Gotham.  Even with whatever was going on in Atlantis.

His only advantage would be that his doppelganger would quite likely die first, when they realized that Damien had slipped away from them at some point.

For the first time in his life, Damien Wilson flew on a /commercial/ plane in /coach/. His mother would have a fit over that alone, but this mission was of the utmost importance. He did rented a car under an assumed name at Star City International airport and then drove through the streets to his destination. Damn, he hated American traffic laws. Passing by Outsiders HQ was surreal, knowing that any of them could be on the streets at any time. If they found him, they would probably see fit to kill him for the wounds he'd inflicted months ago.

These Aren't the Lanterns You're Looking For @ 07:11 pm

[info]green_lantern:

Being out on patrol wasn't one of Dex's favorite things about being a green lantern, but it came with the ring. Sometimes there wasn't much to do except throw some asteroids around, which today was one of those days. Thankfully today Rose was by his side and gave him some company.

Steve opened the door and entered into the darkness beyond the threshold.  As soon as the door closed behind him, dim lights sparked into existence to light up the room.  He saw followers of the Church of Blood standing around the room, fully robed.  In the center was the new generation of Brother Blood and a summoning circle drawn with blood.  The sacrificial lamb, so to speak, lied withered at Brother Blood's feet.

"Are you prepared for what is to come, Steve Logan?"  Brother Blood asked.

"I am," Steve replied.  Brother Blood stepped out of the summoning circle, and Steve stepped into it.  The followers of Trigon began to chant.  The lights flickered.  There was a moment of total darkness.

And when Steve opened his eyes next, all four of them were filled with red.

Breaking News! (Open to reactions) @ 01:46 pm

[info]dc_media:

"We interrupt this regularly scheduled program to bring you this breaking news story.

Seismologists have monitored underwater seismic activity this morning in the North Atlantic moments before the domed city of Poseidonis broke the surface of the water. The Air Force sent out planes to do reconnaissance and reported back that the city seems deserted and mostly destroyed. The reports say that half the city is now rubble and no information on what could have caused such devastation.

The Atlantean Ambassador, Norstrud, was unavailable for comment. The US Ambassador to Atlants, Jonathan Welling, did not have much to say, but did mention that the Atlanteans would only surface the city under dire circumstances. Welling also mentioned that efforts to contact the Atlanteans are being made but have proved to be unsuccessful so far.

King Orin, known on the surface as Aquaman, has not been seen and his whereabouts are unknown.

The US military all along the Eastern seaboard are on high alert if this is a precursor to an Atlantean invasion.

We will bring you more updates on this story as it unfolds."

Jarrod was feeling pretty out of sorts he had had a rather disturbing vision recently and he was not sure what it meant, but it really scared him. Unlike his usual visions which use actively caused this one had just come to him out of the blue without warning.

He had seen a black book with the symbol of a prism eating light on it. He then saw it become freed from what he could only assume was the vault imprisoning it. There was chanting though he could not see or tell where the voices were coming from. He also couldn’t really make out what they were seeing but they gave him really ominous vibes. Then from out of the vault like a black swarm rings baring the same symbol as the book flew out of it. The black cloud then spread across the cosmos to the dead. The hands of the dead reached out to the ring as if accepting their dark power though he wasn’t entirely certain about the truth behind that. He thought he recognized some of the people but he was to uncertain of it. Then all he could see was blackness.

He wanted to look and know more but he didn’t know where to look and he was scared to look. He had talked to his mom about that and found out she had seen something similar but was just as lookless as him on what it meant.

He had teleported to the Titians Towers to see if a new setting would help up his mind at ease but it hadn’t.

So he had made himself a pot of herbal tea to drink and sat down in the living room.

New Year's Dead (New Year's Day, Open to reactions) @ 11:36 pm

[info]dc_misc:

The information has been coming in from around the world since 1:00 am EST. Each news outlet tells the story in a slightly different fashion, but the facts remain the same: at some time after 12:00am, planes on five continents fell from the sky, cars slammed into each other in traffic and regular people going about their every business simply fell over unconscious for no discernible reason.

"This is Austin Davis for the Daily Planet. The only word that can adequately describe what has happened is "catastrophe". Information is still coming in at this time, but it seems that most of Earth's inhabitants seemed to lose consciouness for exactly two minutes. In that time, planes,c cars and buses crashed, pedestrians were hit where they lay, and the world fell into chaos. Even now, the death toll is nearing the double digits and still climbing.

Stranger still is that the survivors, this reporter included, all report having a lucid dream of some kind during their black-out. Few dreams were alike, but one common thread unites them all; each person spoken to thus far believes they saw a relative or friend or lover who passed away some time ago returning to speak with them and offer advice. Many are shaken and unable to understand the meaning of these visions or why they were given.

The heroic community has leaped into action valiantly, aiding in relief efforts, but many are asking if the heroes knew about it in advance. Moreover, may are asking why America remained unaffected by the blackout. Thus far, no portion of the United States has reported any crashes or loss of life due to the blackout. We will bring you more on this story as it develops.

Austin Davis for the Daily Planet, London."

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead @ 08:24 pm

[info]dc_baddie:

It had been a long an terrible battle like they always were between Morgan le Fey and Etrigan. Things were not going well for Morgan le Fey she had muted Jason Blood before she started to attack him so that he could not call out Etrigan like always happen and that’s typically were things went bad for her. Etrigan was so temperamental to control, even Merlin could never fully control him. Still one of his friends or allies she really did care who they were they were nobodies to her had managed to say that damned transformation spell calling forth Etrigan.

Now did seem like as good a time as any to retreat Morgan. She started work on a teleportation spell to take herself away. But before she could finish it Etrigan who had grown tired of these battles flexed his magical power that he did not often use binding her to the ground.

She was almost through breaking the spell when Etrigan walked over to her an evil grin across his face.

“I’m going to enjoy this Witch,
To me you have always been such a bitch,” Etrigan said.

He then proceeded to tear her apart killing her.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this... (Keith and Tim) @ 10:07 pm

[info]batdaughter:

(*takes places after the Songbirds finale*)

She still had Mia's blood on her.  She still had on the wrecked remains of her party dress and one of the shoes and she still wasn't sure how much of the rest of the evening had transpired, but one thing stood out crystal clear.  Mia was dead.  Mia had pushed her out of the way and taken an arrow to the heart.  An arrow fired by a madman that Marissa had pledged to stop.

She had failed, but that wasn't the painful part.  The painful part was that her failure had ended the life of Keith's sister, of Tim's friend. She was responsible for the death of a woman dear to her boyfriend and her brother.

She had to call them.  Keith first.  Marissa dialed the number she knew by her very heavy heart.

Henry and Cassandra Cain sat opposite of each other at the dinner table in his dining room.  They were midway through a conversation, although it was strained by Cassandra's consistent lack of trust for her half-brother.  Something seemed off to her.  Her eyelid were growing heavier, and her stomach churned.  Then finally, she threw up.

"Are you feeling well, Cassandra?" Henry asked in rhetoric.  A smile was plastered across his face, and he set down his glass of wine.  "No, of course you aren't.  Oh, what a shame.  Not only are you dying, but so is your beloved Bruce Wayne.  Or, should I say the original Batman?  It should be any minute now that a person posing as the assassin that failed to kill Bruce Wayne before, finishes that job.  I really must say, this is quite the Christmas day."

Cassandra lost consciousness after Henry finished speaking.  She died shortly after, courtesy of a group of thugs taking out some anger on a returning Batgirl.  Within the next hour, news hit the radio, television, and papers about the death of Bruce Wayne.  A photo of his unknown killer -- known to the League of Assassins as Lady Vic -- was posted in the papers.  She was not, of course, the real killer.  One of Henry's trusted employees was just posing as her to do the job.  The next day, Cassandra's body was found, and news hit the stands about her.

As far as Henry was concerned, it was a fine week indeed.  And nobody even knew he had done anything.

Sad news @ 12:40 am

[info]dc_misc:

Throughout the U.S., every network, and many cable stations break into their regular coverage. The image of the Daily Planet comes on screen, followed by an image of a blonde woman with a tear streaked face. In the background, there's the ruins of a LexCorp facility.

"This is Carol Phelps for the Daily Planet." she begins, composing herself as she goes into field reporter mode. Even at her age, this is usually a Lois Lane job, but she's on assignment elsewhere - and this is very specific news. "And today, I'm sure the world will join us here at the Planet in mourning. Metropolis' first son, our visitor and protector from the stars - Superman, is dead. The tragedy occurred following a battle with noted business tycoon and former politician Lex Luthor, who appeared to have gone back to his criminal roots. The pair, along with a large number of robots and automated weaponry battled for hours in the skies above Metropolis. What brought about the conflict isn't certain.
What we do know is that Superman defeated Luthor and the apparent weapons, containing the damage to a small section of Metropolis around the LexCorp facility behind me, at significant cost to himself. At that point, and unknown third party arrived on the scene. We have not yet identified this person, who appears on cameras only as a shadowy outline. The stranger had words for Luthor and Superman both - we are attempting to find out what was said even now. Whoever the unknown party was, however, he then..."
she pauses, struggling to find her voice. "He slew first Lex Luthor, and then Superman, using some sort of lightning based weapon. We are not replaying the footage here, as the graphic nature of the images may be too shocking for some viewers, but it will be made available once authorities have had a chance to review them.

For now, a great deal remains unknown. What we do know is that the city... the planet, is without its first son. Superman is dead."

Not-So-Perfect Night @ 10:00 pm

[info]greengenes:

Mickey was being very cuddly and attentive when her and Steven got out of the movies. The new Tron had been pretty damn awesome...though there were parts where they weren't paying attention.

"So," she said to Steven as they walked out of the movie theater and into the snow-covered streets. "What's next? Dinner...or do we want to go back to the brownstone and work up an appetite?" She grinned at him.
