Application Post

A few things first.

Original characters are welcome. But if a character already has 'children' be sure to clear another kid with the player of that character.

Alternate Universe and Time displaced kids are welcome. As are totally original characters. Not every JLAer, JSAer, or Titan is going to have parents that were in any of the previous teams. So feel free to use your imagination!

We also welcome Canon kids. IE Chris Kent, Lian, Cerdian, Ramsey Spencer, Sin, the West Twins and older versions of any super kid. Also adult versions of any Canon Teenagers are welcome. (Ie: Miss Martian, Jaime Reyes, Kara Zor-El, Zachary Zatara, Traci Thirteen, Klarion...) As are canon characters and villains in their adult incarnations.

We're taking advantage of the wonderful sliding timeline policy of DC, so if your character's birth date/age doesn't quite work out, it can easily be modified.

Please give us at least 24 hours to look at your application. Once it's accepted, you can jump right in. If we have any problems or questions with any applications we'll contact you for clarification.

In some situations a sample with another player may be required. If the character you want for your parent has a player, contact that player for permission first. Don't worry, we won't bite.

If you can't contact that player, feel free to contact the mods and we'll answer any questions you have!

The game focuses on the next generation of heroes and the kids are the ones out being the superheroes. The adults for the most part are starting to retire and passing the torch to the kids, so if you are looking to play an adult, be advised that in this game they are mostly support roles and plot devices.

Some basic rules:

1. If you are apping a sibling/parent of a character in the game, the player(s) of those characters get approval/veto rights on the app. We require you to discuss the character idea with the other players before apping the character you want to play. If you don't know who is playing a certain character please ask a mod. The list of characters and their relatives is here

2. If you are apping a cousin or other distant relative to a character/characters already in game, the player(s) of the character gets to review the app and provide feedback.

If you can't contact a player, feel free to contact the mods and we'll answer any questions you have!

3. Please do not give names, gender or ages to siblings of canon-pairing characters. This is to allow greater flexibility for people interested in picking up a sibling or parent. A vague reference like "Character X has three other siblings." is fine.

It is okay to give names, gender and ages to siblings of characters who have non-canon parents.

4. Apping Characters just to "hook up with someone" - Please do it somewhere else. This is a game for people who are interested in more than just hooking their character up with another character. While it is natural for characters to start dating and otherwise participate in physical relationships, it should not be the main purpose of the character and it is not the main focus of the game.

Powers/Abilities:
Powers: No superhuman powers, but has been educated by Shiva Wu-San, Bane and David Cain to the degree that some abilities appear almost supernatural. Including some pseudo-mystical martial arts skills, Bane and Shiva's meditation techniques allowing centering, mental resistance, resistance to pain, and ability to hide from psychic abilities, and training in reading body language - her brother's in particular, sufficient that the twins can communicate with one another entirely in silence so long as they can see one another.

Trained by Shiva Wu-San, Bane and to a small degree by David Cain, Carolyn is one of the world's foremost martial artists along with her brother, particularly for her age. Though trained in a wide range of martial arts, she favors 'precision' styles, including leopard, ninjitsu, aikido, wing chun, and dragon - blending what she's been taught into a highly versatile, very precision based form. Because of this focus, she knows and uses much of her mother's more precision or chi based abilities beyond meditative focus and centering techniques. She also knows savate, judo and capoeira, but doesn't use them as much as the precision forms. She is starting to learn snake style, but doesn't use it in combat just yet.

Educated by her father and Bane's allies beyond pure focus in the martial arts, Carolyn has also been trained extensively in strategy and tactics, classic literature, philosophy and linguistics. To the latter end, she is fluent in English, Arabic, German, French, Spanish and conversational in Russian, Cantonese and Hindi

Backstory:

Shiva finally gave up on the Bats and Cassie, and decided she needed an heir, so she set to trying to figure out who else might be suitable, was willing to kill, and could conceivably beat her in a fight. Ended up with Bane. Twins were a surprise, but nothing that couldn't be handled. No real emotional attachment, but they worked out a business arrangement. With the requirement of time share for the kids, because if she wanted the best possible heir possible, he wanted himself and Scandal training them too

They spent time training with Mom and David Cain on the martial arts and body language, as Shiva called in the favor Cain owed her for this. Bane also saw to their physical development, but in addition made sure they were taught strategy, tactics, and other intellectual pursuits.

Carolyn didn't pick up her father and brother's crusade against Venom and drugs, but accompanies her brother on missions because it was something to do and could be fun.

Has a pet 10' python named Clarence.

He has also earned a number of powerful, vengeful and ruthless enemies in the form of various drug cartels around the world - including within operations such as Kobra and some of Ra's al'Ghul's operations.

While he has a sense of fun, training was always both his favorite activity, and deadly serious. He worked hard to become the best martial artist and tactician he could. His time training also helped in indoctrinating him to Bane's hatred of Venom, and the control addiction took of his life. By the time he was ready to go independent, it became Tomas' crusade as well. In time, he expanded it beyond Venom, and began disrupting the activities of drug cartels around the world, taking mercenary work to help pay for his 'hobby', though he took assignments against cartels - often from rival cartels and crime lords, whenever he could.

He works solo at times, but never minds involving his sister or "little sister" Iona with him in his crusade, even if he takes it far more seriously than they do. While much of his crusade may mark him as a hero to some, his mercenary tendencies, and willingness to use the cartels' own tactics and violence against them makes him far more of an anti-hero.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: End up on the wrong side of something bad enough to end up ~~blackmailed~~ recruited into the new Suicide Squad.
What are you planning to do with this character?: Follow Suicide Squad plotlines and make some of the Gotham/street level types lives more difficult at times, allying at others.
