Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow
It was time for the Exiles to move on. Their job in this universe was done and there were many more out there that needed to be fixed or saved.

They were given an hour to say their goodbyes before they moved on.

Sarah hated having to deliver the news to everyone. They didn't get much time off, so the end of the little they had wasn't likely to be pleasant for anyone. And compared to many they'd seen, this was a nice universe.

And, of course, with her best friend and Molly both here, she had personal reasons to hate this.

"I'm going to miss you."

Molly knew that this day would come. She knew it, and as much as she knew that there was nothing she could do to stop it, she didn't want Sarah to go.

These past several weeks with Sarah had been a lot of firsts for Molly. Her first kiss. Her first date. Her first time.

Her first love.

Molly was struggling to hold back tears, as hard as it was.

"I'm going to miss you, too." She said, leaning in to give Sarah a long, slow kiss on the lips.

"I love you."

She returns the kiss. She doesn't care, for once, who is watching, closet be damned.

Not her first kiss, but nearly. Her second date, and the first time she got to see the girl again the next day. Her first time.

She's learned to guard her emotions and try and keep people at arm's length. This one, she can't deny, and when she responds, there's no question she's put a lot of thought into saying it, and kept coming back to absolutely believing it.

"I love you too."

Molly couldn't help it. The tears started flowing, as she kissed Sarah again before stepping back to let Anya say her goodbyes.

Anya stood off to the side and found something interested while Sarah and Molly said goodbye.

Dammit.

Sarah should be able to stay. It totally wasn't fair. At all. Not after Sarah found someone and had been happy.

She came back to the here and now when Molly moved away. Anya gave Sarah a small sad smile. This wasn't any easier than the first time they said goodbye. It was just a little different.

"That's two saves I owe you," she said with her voice thick with emotion.

"You don't owe me anything, sweetie. But if you're going to insist... take care of her, ok? They don't get many fresh strawberries this far north. And don't get in /too/ much trouble, ok?"

"I do owe you. You've saved me from Temujin twice now. I owe you for those saves. Big time." Anya didn't want to think what she would have been like if Sarah hadn't saved her both times. Not only had Sarah saved Anya, but she saved many lives that Anya would have taken as Lady Mandarin.

Anya wrapped her arms around Sarah for a tight hug. "I'll look after her. It's the least I can do." She chuckled. "I'm a Stark, but I'll try to keep the trouble to a minimum."

She returns the tight hug. "I know, you're destined to be a brat... but try not to drive Toni to an early grave, anyway. She has her hands full enough as is." she teases, tearing up again."

As she's hugging her, she adds, quietly, "Thank you for talking me into going on the date. If you ever owed me anything, I think I owe you now."

Anya teared up. "I'm just glad you had a chance to be happy for a bit. I wish I could have made it last longer for you." Anya pulled back a little, kissed Sarah's cheek and then released her. She gently took the chain around Sarah's neck and pulled out the pendant. The Stark family crest. Anya had given it to Sarah the last time they said goodbye. She smiled sadly.

"Don't forget us. If you're in the neighborhood again, look us up. Take care of yourself." She released the pendant and took a step back.

There's the tears again. "I was, and like I could ever forget you. You're still my best friend. And who knows... I came back once. Maybe it'll happen again sometime. Take care of things, ok?" she replies, still facing Anya, but nestling back against Molly, stealing every second she can.

"I will. I promise." She smiled. "I'll give you two some privacy. Spend every second you can with each other."

Anya started to walk away, wiping tears out of her eyes as she did.

Molly wrapped her arms around Sarah, the tears still pouring down her face. Damnit. Why couldn't she go with her? Or better yet, why couldn't Sarah stay?

"Anya, you're welcome to hang out with us. You're part of what I'm going to miss here too." she calls after her friend, snuggling into Molly.
She's feeling horribly guilty - being an Exile is a terrible life, but she's committed to it. And normally, she couldn't condemn anyone to it - but a small part of her is really wishing she could bring Molly with her.

Anya stopped and turned around. "Sarah, I love you and want nothing more than to hang with you right now. But trust me when I say spend this time alone with Molly. If it were me saying goodbye to Steve, I'd want the time alone." She gave Sarah and Molly a smile and then started walking away again.
