Bad Romance (Matt)
Shelly was reasonably certain Matt didn't do Valentine's Day. He didn't seem the type and while that was a bit of a downer it didn't mean that she wasn't going to somehow get to spend the evening with him. To that end she had casually invited him out for some food and then a movie, careful to make absolutely no mention of Valentine's Day in conjunction with things. She'd already put her big foot in her mouth with talking about feelings and that sort of thing so screwing up and acting like Valentine's Day was important was something the good doctor was trying to avoid.

...she bought herself a box of chocolates and stashed it in her desk drawer in anticipation of the day being ignored anyway. Nothing to see here, move along.

So instead of Valentine's Day, Shelly had made plans to meet up with Matt at Emperess, the Chinese place around the corner from his place. She did, however, dress up a little for the occasion. When else would she get a chance to wear her killer zebra heels?

Matt Walker normally isn't about Valentine's Day. He hates the whole commercial feel about the holiday, but damn if he hasn't been worried about this day for months, since he and Shelly started getting serious. Yes, he could ignore it, but that would hurt her feelings, especially after the way he'd botched the whole "I love you" thing.

Even Ian told him he was being a stiff-necked idiot about his feelings for Shelly which, as Ian put it, so obvious that a blind man could see them.

So when Shelly suggested dinner, Matt Walker did something unexpected. He left the duster at home. He enchanted his suit for the evening (because you never knew when someone would want to pick a fight), but left his staff at home. He even decided to forgo the hat.

When Matt Walker arrives, he's dressed upin a dark grey suit with his hair slicked back. He smiles Shelly and hands her a single red rose.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Doc. Can you prescribe something for this fever I have? This voodoo woman's put a spell on me and I think I'm burning up." he grins.

"Oh, he sent me to tell you he's taking the night off. Something about his dog threatening to eat him if he didn't show up. Not that he needed motivation or anything." Matt grins.

"You tell that voodoo woman I'm working on a spell of my own. She's already falling into it.

Despite living around the corner from this place, I've never been here. I think I subsist off fast-food too often. Care to join me for dinner?" he asks, opening the door for her.

"She's been informed. As for me, I would love to join you for dinner and this place is great." She stopped in the doorway to kiss him before going inside.

"Matt, you surprise me, you know that?"

The hostess smiled at them and lead them to a table. Shelly had called ahead, though the place was never all that busy. It was one of those perfect little places that few knew about--a treasure.

"Definitely good thoughts." Matt grins.

"I nearly had to put a spell on Whisper to keep him in the house. He now seems to think that anytime I go to see you, he's automatically invited." Matt says.

"Crazy dog was waiting by the door with his lead when I came out of the bathroom and then wouldn't move when I tried to get past him. I eventually got control of the situation after promising him he'd get to see you again soon." Matt says.

	Shelly smiled widely at that. It was promising that his dog liked her so much. "Well, if we end up going back to your place tonight instead of mine it would let me give him his Valentine. 	Shelly ordered herself a Mr. Pibb and went ahead and ordered egg rolls and crab rangoon and wontons. "It was ordinary. "If you consider the tried-and-true Cheating Spouse case a good one, then yes. Other than that, I haven't had a lot of variety." Matt says.

"Then again, I only advertise my special services to select clients. I got asked to check out a haunted house in El Paso. Eight times out of ten, the house isn't really haunted." Matt says.

"The other two, it's either a ghost that should be left alone or a ghost that isn't worth bothering."
