There were two brother, meaning there now is only one.

Ooh, aren't you sharp? What do you think happened to that second brother, then?

One, disowned. Two, death.

Death. Now imagine how.

It wouldn't be from illness. People accept that over time moves on. I would be leaning towards tragedy, taken away prematurely, horrible circumstances such as murder, suicide.

Murder sounds exciting.

Depending on how it is performed, yes. Otherwise, it's generic.

What if the other brother murdered him?

The question would be, for what purpose. Which of the Seven Sins would have been used for the reason behind killing a loved one.

Which one would be the most exciting, I wonder. For a good story, and all.

Wrath, Envy. Those are the two most fitting.

Not lust?

Lust is overdone. Childish. Fighting over the same person is a waste especially to bring them to the point of death. I would at least hope their bonds would be able to see past that.

I can already tell this isn't going to end well.

What gave off that impression? It could be a good story.

Stories about brothers always end in how they turned on each other.

That doesn't mean it's a bad story.

It depends on the storyteller.

Do you like good stories, about betrayal?

Only when they include revenge.

The dead can't get revenge, can they?

No, but their loved ones can.

How noble. And what it this dead brother's only loved one was the one who killed him?

Then I guess the bastard's the victor.

Those are my favorite kinds of stories. Where the bastard wins and all hope is lost. Even better is when the hero dies, and all who dared to oppose the bastard are left without their precious leader.
