AU meme: Thief in the night

He didn't come to Gotham all that often, but once in a while he'd make the trip. It was his mother's old hunting grounds after all, and seeing the places of her stories and trying to reenact the thieving bits never got old. Not to mention the security was better than most cities. No doubt leftover from her more villainous days.

Thomas had already snuck into the Gotham Museum of Art and was at the Van Gogh exhibit they were famous for. Cameras off, sensors evaded, no security nearby meant he was free to take a moment to take it all in.

These field trips were always fun.

Sarah had grown up with two loving parents. In fact they worked for Interpol and she had eventually become a sort of free agent with them. The costume just came with the gig since she worked in a very highly specialized field.

Tracking thieves. It's funny because she is god enough that if she were so inclined she could be a master thief herself but right now she is on the trail of someone very hard to track.

Turns out he had gone to Gotham.

His mother hadn't told his father about him, instead, like a thief's instincts told her to, she fled abroad and didn't quite retire. Instead, she picked up jobs once in a while to support them and keep her hand in it, though she had plenty of money from previous jobs, and he'd grown up well off and quite happy. Of course, that came with a natural knack for getting any lock open. She'd taken him under her wing so if he decided to use those skills he at least wouldn't get caught.

That was the rule: Don't get caught.

And he'd made quite a killing at it. Gotham was just a joy ride for him at this point.

Years of this sort of work had him develop almost an extra sense to know when something was awry. And it was going off now. Without a moment to lose, he disappears into the shadows to see who's coming.

She comes down from another ceiling. She did it like a professional and is looking for signs of the thief she is after.

He might think she is a rival thief the way she is dressed. She moves like one and that suit she is in leaves little to the imagination even if it is leather. She can't find him so she visually scans the area looking for anything out of place.

It seems to be in order. Damn.

	If he was on a job for an employer, or really serious about getting a certain item for himself, he'd stay hidden until she left or, if that didn't seem viable, book it out of there. But tonight was about fun. So he sneaks up on her from behind, close enough that his voice sounds like it's in her ear, and smirks. "I don't usually get company like this." 	He does stop her. By reaching out and grabbing the wrist that's ready to shoot the line out. Which only serves to draw them a lot closer to each other.
