Calling
27 September. The Wedding Anniversary. The wedding only left incomplete because of the monster controlling her Lady-Mother's mind. As far as Mariko, and thus, as far as Amiko was concerned, her parents had really been married anyway.

Amiko knew her Father no longer made his attempts to get roaring drunk -- or as close to it as he could possibly get -- on the anniversary, but she liked to keep calling anyway. Just in case, and just to talk to him.

This year was a little... complicated. She hadn't really kept a secret from him before. But it didn't seem like time yet to mention her mentally ill boyfriend for whom she was a parole officer. The ethical questions were bad enough; there was also the safety issue.

She takes a breath and calls.

"If, an' I mean /if/, he agrees to see somebody, I'll get ya a good one." And that was all he'd say about it. He hated somebody messing around in his head, but he'd admit it probably saved...somebody's life.

Time for a subject change, before he was on the next flight to Tokyo to see the situation for himself and probably bring down the Hand on top of them all. "I didn't forget what today is. You get a chance to visit her?"

It was an old joke, because nobody could figure out where Misha's easy going nature came from. It wasn't in him or the boy's mother. Logan was hard teacher, but he never tortured the boy. He left that to the girls.

	Keiji is currently practicing his martial arts, near-seamlessly blending one style in with another before reverting to a third one at the end of the makeshift kata. Part of him still feels the urge to let his claws spring out, but he knew the act disturbed Amiko, so he was trying to it less often. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Like every mention of her Lady-Mother's death, he felt a strong sense of guilt for even being associated with the Hand. However her latter news snapped him out of it. "Your father is coming here?" "Not for a few months," she assures him quickly. "We have a few months to be ready to tell him about us." And... you know... for Keiji to be ready to spend ten seconds in the same room with him. "And you won't have to talk to him long. We always go just the two of us." It had led to plenty of cases of Logan's getting ambushed, but he never gave the impression it wasn't worth it.

"You'll do wonderfully," she says quietly.

She pauses in thought for a moment.

"I...I sometimes wonder, what would be if that wedding day had gone differently, so long ago. If that monster hadn't kept them apart, driven her further into the path of The Hand. My father would have stayed in Japan. She... might not have died...."

She shrugs, shakes it off. "But there's no telling. And I cannot forget all the good things that happened. I have little brothers now, after all. I'm very proud of Misha. He's certainly worth everything my father did for him."
