Seeking Help
Fred wasn't exactly comfortable with what he was about to do, but something had to be done. Or else someone could get hurt. Sasha could get hurt...unacceptable. He knocks on the door to Xavier's office.

Xavier will find a very divided psyche. It manifests as a torn string, held together at the bottom by a thin thread. One side showcased memories of Fred's time in Gene Nation and his resentment of mutants that appeared human. On the other side were more recent memories, specifically of Sylvie and Sasha. At the bottom, the small thread holding the two together were images of working in a laboratory, desperately seeking the means to stabilize human mutation, all the while showcasing images of the Dark Beast's experiments and the constant, often painful shifts in Fred's mutation.

One memory in the middle seems to flash by. It shows Fred with his brother Nicolas. Nicholas had just murdered a canine mutant who had refused to join Gene Nation. It was the first time Fred saw someone die. Suddenly a dialogue seemed to go on in Friedrich's head.

"Take the body, you can use it for the experiments. No, he is dead, it would be beneath me to do so and disrespectful to the body. No! I need genetic material! What's one life? What good does it do you to let him lie there? You could learn much. I..."

In the end Fred picks up the body and takes it with him.

"Guilt?" came Fred's voice, but distinctly haughtier and more vicious. "Why should I feel guilt over dissecting a deadman? It was likely the only use he ever contributed to mutantkind."

Another voice, less arrogant, more calm and logical. "He realized the Gene Nation's goals were untenable. He did not deserve death for realizing this and did not deserve to have his body mutilated."

"Stop being such a weakling! We needed him! We need to stop the pain! You weren't going to do it so I did!"

"I did nothing!" came the more benevolent Fred.

"Oh spare me. He was no use to the cause alive so we made use of him dead. Father was flawed in his goals, but not his methods. We must do what it takes!"

"I.."

"And you must forget the girl. Cast her out!"

"No!"

"Yes, Friedrich! She's a hindrance. Do you want to live with these damnable transformations the rest of your life!?"

	Xavier's continues exerting some psychic force, trying to let the fiercer memories fade, not from memory, but into the background of the other memories, the red less vivid against the other colors, as it were.
