Mel finished laying out Alex's birthday feast. Pies of both the fruit and meat varieties, fondues of both cheese and chocolate -- with a little sign saying 'Do Not Eat While Puppying'. She haunted the ventilator shafts to make sure the smell would fill the whole HQ.

	Alex was sleeping on the couch in the rec room when he opened an eye. He took a sniff and suddenly he was wide awake. He jumped down and followed his nose until he reached the kitchen.
