Best Dressed Crime-fighting Duo Ever
Frances drifts the borrowed, or 'temporarily upcycled', sports car through the left turn, merrily ignoring the loud honks and shouts surrounding the two of them as they zoom past. Whatever, light was still green, it was a protected turn. "You still have a tracker on the perp?" she shouts over the chaos as she skips a gear to two to get to the fourth. Boy she hopes so, it's going to be embarrassing to explain to the cops if they lose the baddies. Her tie's loose around her neck, never willing to give the bad guys a noose to strangle with, and the matching graphite fedora is in the back seat of the sports car so it doesn't whip off with the wind. She's glad for the pants, though, running down anyone is a pain in the ass in skirt and heels.

With an equally classy magic hat, Martin grins as the driving gets more dangerous. This was like a real life car chase! Well...it was actually one. "Yep, magic trackers don't run out so fast." He's dressed as usual, with the dress shirt with the rolled up sleeves, gloves, and a new vest that was probably swiped off a three piece suit originally. Only differences today are the sunglasses, because why not up the awesome factor, and a unloosened tie.

Because if you were going to do something, you might as well go all out.

"Do you always drive like this," he tries shouting back over the noise, though it's clear that this is probably the first time someone who's asked that question thinks it's a good thing.

She nodded when he explained, and was glad there wasn't too small range they had to keep close for the magic to work. The two of them looked rather GQ and had the car been more luxurious, she'd believe this was a photo shoot or stunt scene for a Bond movie. Instead it was real life, take it as you will.

"Only when I have to chase someone," she admitted cheerfully, swerving hard to avoid a car and then gesturing back at the driver. The target make a u-turn to shake them and Frances put the parking break on and turned the wheel hard. "Hold on, tossing the cookie."

Personally, he loved the car. But then again, he couldn't drive and nobody around him really owned one with the exception of Marlow's demon-tracking car, so car rides were rare but this one was certainly proving exciting.

"That's too bad, it'd be nice to do it all the time," he says while craning his neck to see what the perp was doing, and missed seeing her gesture because of it. A little bit of TK on his window controls and his window rolls down. "But we don't have any cookies!" A gloved hand comes out the window, makes a hand gun sign, and with a whispered 'pew!' Martin sends a mystic bolt at the target.

"It is fun, but you can see it's a bit taxing on the machine," she agreed and slammed on the brakes to weave backward from a freighter and slip up the other side. "Also half of the reason I'm not allowed Skycycle. I have my dad's problem with keeping vehicles in working order." The turn drifted and then squared its wheels before lurching forward in chase. She cheered when the bolt landed and gunned it to catch up while they were disposed. "Good aim!"

As the tires squeal, instead of panicking like some would at the relatively reckless driving, Martin laughs and cheers. "It's like an action movie! Do we get to blow something up? Please?" He beams at the compliment about his aim and shoots off more mystic bolts at the car, making 'pew pew' noises with each shot of his hand gun. "Faster!"

She snorted, smirking crookedly at his zeal for the insanity. Looks like she had a partner in crime. "Aim for the tires, it'll mess them up better than shooting at them," she advised, mostly because she couldn't both drive like an idiot and shoot at their prey. She hit the gas pedal to the wall and threw the stick shift into the final gear. "Short of rockets or wings I can't make it go faster, Pip!"

"Okay," he grins, taking her words for car chases, she was the experienced one here after all, and starts trying to aim at the tires. "I can't give us wings but..." Now there's a slow mischievous grin forming. He didn't know the levitation spell but his magic discs could be helpful here. So he stops shooting for a moment to conjure up a row of blue discs in front of them, that floated and sloped up over the truck blocking their way like some video game race track.

If he could've made bonus coins or powerups on the track, he would have.

She tenses behind the wheel when the car lifts, but then decides to let up on the speed to save on gas. "You fly, I'll shoot, okay?" She gets her gun from a shoulder holster and hangs out the car to shoot while they have the advantage of surprise. She clips the front tire to make the car lurch and shudder, then at the hood of the car, about where the tubing would be.

"Deal!" Since he gets to, gleefully, take control of the vehicle, the row of discs disappear in favor of just on large one holding up the car. He even conjures up a small disc for him to hold as a steering wheel, even if it was entirely for show.

Of course, as crazy as Frances was driving, give the kid the figurative wheel and a floating car and rules of the road were out the window. They flew just above all the cars and Martin loops them out from the curve of the road, zigzagging to try and give Frances shot opportunities from either side. He thinks that's helpful, not quite realizing that for most people the unstable and somewhat unpredictable air swerving didn't make for good shooting. For most people of course. Not all.

Okay, okay that might have been a dumb idea and she remembers not everyone capable of defending the Earth also has a driver's license. She has to clutch at the door and roof better as the car starts to bob and dance around just to keep from falling out. "Little smoother Pip!" she calls out and follows with the car as it slides in and out of her vision. She takes another shot at the driver's wheel, making the driver let go suddenly..

"Huh?" It's hard to hear over the noise and the car does another sharp swerve as it chases after the car.

Maybe this will be easier. Just think at me, it's less noisy this way.

The car does seem to level out a bit now and he flies them a bit lower and to the side of the car. This was certainly fun. He wondered why people didn't do the flying car thing more. Oh well, it seemed their car chase was going well. Now hopefully they'd get to blow something up and this action movie adventure would have another tick on the crazy-things-to-do list.

Frances blinks because she's pretty certain that neither her conscience nor her common sense has a little boy's voice in her mind.

Doing fine, just... less jerky. Am I even doing this thinking out loud thing right?

The evading car swerves and screeches before wrapping the front around a light pole. She jumps out of the car window and lands on the wrinkled hood, letting Martin drve around as intimidation. "Exit the car, put your hands on your head and don't pull anything stupid," she announces over the chaos. And when a full grown woman is dressed in a fitted suit from the 20's or something is standing on your car with a gun pointed to your head, you should listen.

He'd make a terrible but wonderful Jiminy cricket.

Yep! Don't worry, I'm not going deep into your mind or anything. You've never done this?

The magic car circles for a bit before slowly landing, all while glowing an omnious blue for effect. Light effects really went a long way for theatricality he found. The perp can't see much of Martin but a gloved hand comes out the window to conjure up a bunch of magic discs that form a circle around the car, blocking it from traffic while sending the message 'there's nowhere to run'. Okay, maybe he hadn't needed to add that touch of fire at the base of the discs, the markings on them were creepy enough to a civilian, but hey, why not? Made it seem like the dapper woman with a gun was backed by the fires of hell.

He did stop short of firework effects which he felt wouldn't work in the situation for once. Too bad.

No, usually when I talk in here I don't expect an answer. Tends to be a bad sign.

She works on not laughing out loud at the hardened mob soldiers who are clearly not sure this whole scene is real or a really good hit off the pipe. The hovering and sparkling car looming at them over her shoulder didn't really help much with that. From the corner of her eye, she could see Martin was diverting traffic from them and blocking off any escape. She smiled an unfriendly smile, adding to encourage their next choice, "He'll blow up your car, with or without you in it."

And just as she says that the boy's voice in her head takes it's cue.

Ooh, I do get to blow up the car then? Perfect! Because there's some really cool fireworks I can do with that.

She has to fight smiling at Martin's eagerness and is grateful for her practice with playing poker.

Now now, let them think about it first. If they don't come out in twenty, let'er rip.

Though she too will have to duck because she's not getting Devore singed for anything. She smiles more like a shark at the two and thumbs off the safeties of her guns. "Well?"

As the mobsters consider her offer they'll hear some eerie rumbling and the car starts shaking a bit and glowing a slight blue. Just a friendly reminder from the mage behind the wheel that their car made lovely firework fodder.

Frances shrugs and hops off the mauled front of the car, adding, "Ding! Times up!" as the only warning to what's going to happen. She gets far enough away to chase and kick down anyone that tries to runs away as their wreck car become possessed by the 1812 Overture.

The look of sheer horror and panic on the faces of hardened mobsters is priceless as the moment she jumps off the hood they scrambled and trip their way out of that car.

Of course all this is actually done to the 1812 Overture. Because the snazzy crimefighting duo didn't leave home without proper crimefighting soundtracks. And that just happened to be the next one on the list. A little magical amplification to work as speakers and it was a crazed magicked-up action movie come to life.

As they leave the car begins to rumble some more until it starts shaking violently and there's a sequence of explosions that go off and the car bursts into a full out fireworks show of the 4th of July kind. Countless bursts of sparkles and light go off, illuminating the whole traffic way and bringing traffic to a stand still to watch. Martin seems to enjoy the audience, and the fireworks continue into a grande finale where the last remains of the car are shot up into the sky and burst to create a spectacular image of a outlined dragon that swoops above the traffic lanes before exploding again with a final roar.

Yes. He'd been watching the first Lord of the Rings. But his were better he insisted.

Frances pops her shades on just to keep with the theme and just strolls over to the tough guys crabbing backwards and jibbering nonsense in shock. They are so out of their minds it's even easier to handcuff both and then link them together. She grabs the phone and calls the police. "HI, we've got two mob guys sitting on the grass at 19th and Imperial. If you can't find us I'll be very disappoint."

It's a good show, all things said.

In his book there was never an occasion that wouldn't be made better with fireworks. And catching mobsters totally counted.

"Tell them to follow the fireworks!" Martin is really enjoying crimefighting, a little magic went a long way.

"So...according to the action movies we need to go for milkshakes after because that's what they do," he explained when she got closer. Even though he'd never seen one action movie where anyone had milkshakes. A gross oversight on the part of the movie makers in his opinion. Milkshakes should be a thing post-crimefighting and he planned to make it so.

"If they can't figure it out, I will weep for out law enforcement," she agrees and kills the cell. With a lifted eyebrow, she looks at martin and tries to remember the last shoot-em-up-bang-bang she saw with milkshakes. But after a moment, she shrugs, who says no to milkshakes? With that, she points to the no-longer hovering car. "We driving or you poofing us over, then?"

"No blowing up their car. It's evidence," she confirmed and brushed down her jacket's arms from bits of ash and debris. She discreetly reholstered in case anyone want to chase her down for her permits. "We borrowed our car so they'll find it and give it back. Let's book it, Dapper One."

"Okay Dapper Two," he grins and one of his signature magic discs appears beneath his feet and rises a bit to hover in the air. He takes off his hat with a flourish and gives her a short bow and smile to indicate 'step right up!'. "Getaway teleport ready!"
