Best Dressed Crime-fighting Duo Ever
Frances drifts the borrowed, or 'temporarily upcycled', sports car through the left turn, merrily ignoring the loud honks and shouts surrounding the two of them as they zoom past. Whatever, light was still green, it was a protected turn. "You still have a tracker on the perp?" she shouts over the chaos as she skips a gear to two to get to the fourth. Boy she hopes so, it's going to be embarrassing to explain to the cops if they lose the baddies. Her tie's loose around her neck, never willing to give the bad guys a noose to strangle with, and the matching graphite fedora is in the back seat of the sports car so it doesn't whip off with the wind. She's glad for the pants, though, running down anyone is a pain in the ass in skirt and heels.

There's some momentary blinking, he hadn't noticed the blue smoke, which was really just wisps of magic coming off him. "Oops," he says while brushing off his shoulders. "There. Fixed. It sometimes happens when I use a lot of it and I forget to dial it down after." Spinning finally paused he tilts his head and considers her hand-sign. "You're doing it wrong. Your wrists are too limp. It's supposed to be like this." And he makes Dr. Strange's signature hand signs with both hands to demonstrate. Dressed to the nines and practicing for a rock concert apparently, nope they didn't stand out at all.

"We didn't push you overboard, did we Pip?" she asked and frowns because maybe overuse of magic leads to deficiency or something. She doesn't need the kid falling over from diabetic shock. "My wrists are not limp. I can do one-handed push-ups and two-hand head-stands," she pointed out with a pout.

"Oh no! I like it when I get to use a lot, it means there's less buildup and less accidents or leaking," he explains cheerfully. With the way his powers were, he was a walking leaking faucet of magic with only the gloves and countless spells layered on top to keep it in check. Power levels running out weren't a problem, it was keeping it in control that was. And getting to unleash a little always had him more relaxed and happier, there was less worry that his hands might spark accidentally to let off the extra.

"That's nice. And I can read latin and accidentally turn chairs into toads but that doesn't mean your wrists aren't limp."

She considers the explanation and relaxes from her concern for his wellbeing. If this is normal or even useful to him and they won't get into much trouble for risking timespace, what's it to her? Squinting, she rolled her eyes and shook her head at the compare and contrast. "No, you transforming things into reptiles has nothing to do with the strength of my wrists, really. Ask anyone on your team, archers have to have good wrists." She sat up and perked up when the soda jerk came back, bearing two tall cold glasses for them.

"My teammates use guns, not arrows. And if your wrists are so good you should be able to do the hand thing like I did. See?" He insists, but there's a hint he's teasing her here, and demonstrates again for her then takes a dignified sip of his milkshake. "Besides, toads aren't reptiles they're amphibians."

She is just as dignified and waves her hands exaggeratedly around in the pose, then humphs while she smooths the vest and jacket back down from her flailing. Leaning forward, she swirled the float to blend it better and then sip. "Mm, that's good. Got thirsty with the chasing."

After stifling giggles at her antics, Martin takes another sip and nods in agreement. "Milkshakes are the best. And they always always come with straws." An important point.

"So, things-with-straws is a plus? We'll have to get you introduced to tapioca slushies and milk teas," she considers before drinking. "Milkshakes are indeed the best. Every fall, I think I eat a gallon ice cream just for the pumpkin spice and eggnog flavors. And all the awesome hot chocolate flavors for the winter, mm."

"Yep, very much," he says and waves two fingers of a gloved hand as a reminder why. "What are those things? Are they good? And of course milkshakes are the best! Ice cream is a close second but certain teammates steal mine. Which isn't nice."

"They're a range of drinks from chilled milk teas, to fruity slushies or ices with chewy tapioca pearls at the bottom. You try to suck up the chewy pearls as you drink the drink. Fat straws, great for spitballs cannons," she explains. Shaking her head, she sighed. "Sadly, territory in the fridge is hard to dispute or defend. Not without booby traps."

"Okay, I'll try one one day then."

Her next statement gets a long thoughtful pause as he stares off into the distance and seems to plan things. Then decides it's good to have extra plans in case. "What kind of booby traps do you think?"

She waves the long-necked spoon in the air, listing off some good booby traps. "Vasoline on jars and tuppers's are a good one. So is just unscrewing the jar lid so when grabbed it slips out of the grip and drops to the floor." Swinging her spoon back and forth, she ponders. "Mouse traps in microwaved popcorn boxes is a bit harsh, but fake bugs or spiders in pantry boxes..."

The way he nods seriously and listens very carefully makes it clear he's treating this less like casual advice and more like a lesson from a master. "Is there anything for ice cream thieves?"

She hisses through her teeth and leans back, clearly contemplating the question. "That's tricky, can't use a bad food flavor to deter and gels get crunchy that cold. Oh wait." Fishing her smartphone out, she typed up a screen. "This may help, though it doesn't stop from cutting off the top."

Martin leans forward to consider the picture. "Hmm, I guess that could work. I'll try it because I don't like putting spells on my food." If you did it wrong there went your food. But then again, better that than someone taking the whole thing. Maybe he could test some minor curses...

"What do the gels do?"

"I figured. I mean, who wants their Chunky Monkey to suddenly have fur and a tail?" she readily agrees. At his question though, she slides into an expression of complete and total innocence. "Well, if I knew anything about gels from SHIELD's R&D, I might mention the anti-friction/bounce one, or the explodes-once-the-solvent-evaporates, or simply dies skin magenta on contact or once exposed to soap and water..."

Martin nodded along, with an airy innocent smile plastered on. "That's interesting. There's spells to do the skin colour and explosion things. So I hear."

The two were having a oblivious face off, blithely smiling and nodding like dippy bird toys. "Fascinating stuff, isn't it?"

Her answer is a slurping sound characteristic to when one tries to get those last few drops with a straw. Yeah, he's finished. As if the slightly forlorn look wasn't answer enough. "Yeah..."

"You'll get sick if you have too much and then your team will come down on me. We'll get some next time we're out, barring any emergencies," she compromises and winks at him. "Promise."

He takes a long moment to squint at her to see if indeed she was telling the truth. Apparently what he found was good enough to convince him. "Okay, I'll remember though!" A thought occurs to him and he sits up and smiles again. "Hold on a sec! I remembered this time!" With that declaration he goes fishing into his hat for something until he seems to find it. With a grin he pulls out his hand to show something floating slightly above it.

Yes. A dubloon of all things.

"Here! For this milkshake and the other ones too!" The dubloon slides onto the top of his hat and he holds the hat out for her to fetch her strange payment.

She plucks the dubloon and looks at closely to be sure that, yes, she's been given a pirate coin to pay for a milkshake. Boy, the Archive branch of SHIELD was going to have a field day when she got back. "This'll probably cover you for at least a year of milkshakes," she agrees and looks at him. "Not every day, though, so don't try. C'mon."

"A year of milkshakes?" There's that smile now that said he just realized something great. If one dubloon got a year of milkshakes...and considering how many dubloons he knew the Sanctum had...

"Huh? Oh, yep. Coming!" Sorry, lost in a milkshake daydream there. He hops off his stool to follow her.
