Comment here with a character of mine, and I'll tell you five things you didn't know about him/her, as well as one thing even he/she doesn't realize!

KAT
1. She was planning to go to school for theatre and music when she moved to Windsor, but then she decided that (a) it would be too hard, (b) her family didn't have enough money, and (c) her grandmother wouldn't pay for something so frivolous. (Gran doesn't know Kat's a stripper, either. Oy.)

2. She hates her job, but boy does she work hard for the money. She's pretty good at taking things in stride, and she knows she looks good dancing up there, so she takes it as just one more stepping stone until she gets to do what she really wants to do - perform.

3. Kat attended two high schools. She was asked to leave the first one after she was caught having an affair with her music teacher. The teacher was fired, but Kat begged her parents not to press charges. They weren't pleased, but they agreed not to. She didn't hear from Mr. Manox again.

4. Oddly enough, she doesn't have daddy issues or anything. She just really, really likes to have sex. It's more of a pastime for her than a special sign of intimacy.

5. Kat could probably give up having multiple sexual partners if she found someone who satisfied her enough to keep her from finding comfort elsewhere. Probably.

Unknown: She's really quite crazy about Hal. It might have something to do with him actually staying. (God, I have to finish that scene...)

SPENCER

(Reply to this)(Thread)

SPENCER
1. He's kind of a coward. If he went to Hogwarts, he'd definitely be sorted into Slytherin. He's actually... a lot like Draco Malfoy, now that I think of it. Ambitious to a fault, refuses to put his life on the line for anyone else, doesn't really care about being the hero unless it gets him something in the end. Wow. And I usually hate the Slytherins.

2. Family is actually really important to Spencer. He doesn't know that he'd ever want kids of his own (because let's face it, I'm not sure how good of a father he'd be) but he's really close with his dad and there's no way in hell anyone who fucks with the Hughes men gets away with it in one piece. You don't insult his family unless you're looking for a death wish. It's alternately his pride and his protectiveness over that which he feels is his that makes him act that way. (This doesn't make any sense but my brain is literally fried. Oy.)

3. Spencer has this... compulsion, I suppose, where he has to be the best at everything. That's why this whole thing with Piers bothers him so much. Sure, he and Edward were always seeing other people while they were in school, but they'd always come back, compare conquests, and then fight over who got to top, since the clothes usually came off halfway through arguing whose sexual conquests were better. Spencer thinks he's better suited to Edward, and whether that's true or not is completely up for debate.

4. He took violin lessons when he was a kid probably up through... tenth grade? He was actually pretty good at it, too, but he didn't see any point to continue them once he decided to follow in his dad's footsteps and pursue a career in law. He can he awfully lazy sometimes. If he doesn't see a future in something, he won't bother to pursue it so he can focus his efforts on things that do matter.

5. Spencer cannot walk by a reflective surface (that includes stainless steel appliances, store windows, and the glass in picture frames) without checking himself out and fixing his hair. He is, at times, excessively vain.

Unknown: He may have actually loved Edward. (I know. Scary, right?)

LAURA and PETER! <3

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]ow_mybrain

LAURA
1. Her father gave her a sturdy aluminum baseball bat when she left home for Lowood with the instruction that it was to be used to beat the tar out of any boy who tried to get into her dorm room. She hasn't had to use it so far, but she's beginning to think she ought to carry it around with her. Just in case.

2. It's not just the Springs that has Laura getting into trouble. She's been a danger magnet from a young age. Playing too close to hornets' nests, toppling into a flooded creek and nearly drowning, falling off a stack of haybales and spraining her wrist... you name it, she's done it - and, miraculously, lived through it.

3. She's really crazy about animals, but her parents won't let her get a dog. Her father insists that all they're good for is sucking eggs and pissing on the crops. So the first thing Laura plans on doing when she gets her own place, should she ever grow up, is getting a dog. Until now, it looks like frequenting the pet store is the only thing she'll be able to do.

4. Laura doesn't do too well when she's alone. She needs to be around people or she gets cranky and depressed. If she ever ended up in jail for some reason and they put her in solitary confinement, I'm pretty sure she'd either (a) go crazy, or (b) die. (I think they only do that for sociopaths, though, so I think she'll be safe.)

5. She's very insecure about her appearance because she's quite tall and gangly and dark-haired, not blonde and petite and lovely like her mother and sisters. She sometimes thinks if she didn't have such long hair she'd be mistaken for a boy because she thinks she has no figure to speak of. It's not anyone's fault that she feels this way; she just has a bad self-image.

Unknown: Laura unconsciously seeks attention and affection because she feels like a bit of a black sheep at home. She doesn't really realize she's doing it.

MILLER!

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]ow_mybrain
2008-07-21 08:57 pm UTC (link)
MILLER
1. Has a twin sister, Marcy. She's only a few minutes older, but she seems so much more mature than him. She's got her life together much better than Miller does, and she's married with two kids, a boy and a girl. Miller is an uncle! (He's not very good at it, as you can imagine. He tries to remember to send birthday cards, though.)

2. Wavers between atheism and agnosticism. He grew up in a strictly religious family and he's a bit resentful as a result. Plus, what kind of god wouldn't let his stupid soul go to rest like a normal person? Because Miller could really go without the whole reincarnation thing, honestly.

3. He doesn't hate his job as much as he lets on. It's kind of cool seeing the mini versions of some really great writers, and they are really smart kids - most of the time. And he even likes the subjects he teaches. He's just grumpy and could probably use some therapy. It's just that how do you tell your therapist "Hey, I'm actually the reincarnation of Ernest Hemingway and I'm afraid I'm going to put a gun in my mouth someday" without getting shipped off to the loony bin?

4. In that vein, he is really desperately scared he's going to go the same way as his predecessor and get into such a bad place he'll think the only way out is by ending his life. But the cycle never stops, does it, he wonders. His soul will just be recycled and someone else will have to deal with it. He feels like everyone in the town would be so much better off if they didn't know they were reincarnated. Himself included.

5. He's actually a pretty good singer, but he refuses to show interest in his musical skills to spite his mother. She was always shoving it down his throat when he was a kid, since she was a music teacher. He learned a lot from her and could probably still plunk out a few notes on the piano or a guitar, but he prefers to be a mountain man like his dad. (God, he's so grumpy.)

Unknown: If he doesn't get over himself and his fears and his bad attitude and his alcoholism, he will never have a marriage that lasts more than a few years. I can't see anyone putting up with him for more than that long.

I pick Cori!

CORI
1. She's a very picky eater. When she was little, her parents could hardly get her to eat anything but cookies and peach yogurt. She'll go to a restaurant and order the same thing every time just because she doesn't like trying new things.

2. She's an excellent Scrabble player. She loves most word games, but she's best at Scrabble.

3. Seriously allergic to penicillin. It makes her violently ill.

4. Dated a lot in high school, kissed a few boys, had a boyfriend or two, but is still a virgin. Has never trusted anyone enough to get that close to them.

5. Cori's the type of person who punctuates her text messages perfectly. Everything's capitalized properly and written coherently. Same with e-mails and IMs. She's a bit weird that way.

Unknown: She's going to grow up to be a therapist instead of a lawyer, and thus become the black sheep of the family because she didn't do what daddy wanted. Her sisters will love it.
