Flash-forward to a possible future - Summer 2020 Things had gone from bad to worse in the general span of the universe. Malicor, with a Lantern Ring on every finger, had burned a swath of destruction through almost every sector of space. Now, he is converging on Earth, and all that stands between him and his goals is a multi-universal fleet of heroes.. including a certain group of Lanterns who aren't quite kids anymore.
The battle with Malicor hasn't been going well. Most weapons and other efforts are brushed away quite easily for Malicor. he is supremely more powerful than compared to what he might have dished out in 2010. Of course.. so are the trio of adult men who have grown up no doubt though the past ten years, each realizing his potential in their own unique ways.
Malicor has blasted past the defenses for Earth, and is coming up now on the heaviest hitters now that he is in the atmosphere. His goal is to reach the Earth's core and destroy it, thus destroying the whole planet. This has not been an easily won battle for him however, and now he's having to face the Guardians. Some of the space-side heroes have fallen back to ground level and stand
Avalon, for his part, has not gotten much bigger, but he has filled out and gained another few inches on his wingspan to make up for that additional mass. He has proven to be one of the more masterful users of his ring in recent Blue Lantern lore.. Of course what he would worry about that made him different as a young Lantern is what has proven to be his best strengths now as a seasoned Lantern. Even those used to battling against Blues found him hard to deal with. As usual he hangs back, letting the others lead so that he may support. He is now waiting for Malicor to get into position for their plan to be put into motion.
"Thou doth have no prayer!" Malicor cried, as he points a yellow-fingered ring at the heroes. "For soon thine world will be destroyed!"

"You know, Malicor?" Henry asks. "I've gotta know. Do you ever shut up?"
He flies up behind his opponent, from where he'd faked his death, and begins blasting with his ring, trying to get his attention.
"Oh, and look what I still have!"
"Just shut up, Malicor," comes LifeForce's reply to the multi-ringed villain as he springs from where he's been standing and leaps to kick the villain down towards the ground while he's distracted with Henry's attack.
He's gotten bigger as well, more muscular. And with his age has come an advance in power. Having gone through much, he's become more linked to the life and his powers. He's stronger but the biggest rise in his physical abilities has been his speed. And he's not about to let a whole planet be destroyed on his watch.
At first, Avalon is standing next to Lifeforce. Then Henry has "come back from the dead" and gives him the opening he needs.
Spatial warping is almost second nature for him now, and he simply warps himself into where he needs to be, and then starts to let loose his Hope beam on Malicor.
Malicor is waiting for him though, so when Josh attacks, he is caught off guard. Malicor gives a surprised cry and falls to the ground for a moment, holding his face.
"How dare thee kick me!" he says, before settling Josh with a murderous gaze.
//Good thing to see you're still ticking, Green// Avalon directs to Henry through their rings as he moves to flank Malicor and keep him from getting out of a certain radius. He certainly doesn't fear for Josh - he knows Josh can handle himself.
Henry, also, has grown physically larger and toned in muscle. He grins, firing more blasts, keeping Malicor's attention on him.
//You think he could take me out, Blue? Really?//
"I've got your dad's ring, Malicor! I've still got your dad's ring! And it's sexy! You know what I've used this ring to do, man? Are you sure you still want it? You don't know where it's been..."
"GL! Now is not the time to bragging about our adventures in the bedroom," Josh half-yelps, face about as red as his mask for a moment. Some things never change.
Snapping back to the fight, Josh smirks a little. "Oh, c'mon Malicor...after what I did to you the last time we fought, you really gotta ask if I'd kick you?" he taunts a little.
Taking something off his belt, LifeForce extends the staff he's taken to using with a quick flick and leaps in to unleash a flurry of strikes to follow up Henry's blasts.
Henry keeps Malicor off balance, but it's Josh who really gives him a what-for with that staff. It's Josh's quick ork that keeps the Yellow Lantern down on the ground. He's so angry that he can't even respond to their taunts. He just growls as Josh knocks him several times with that staff fairly well.
//I was just worried that you might have been hurt, but then you promptly proved that you are just fine.// he sends to Henry.
As Josh and Henry keep Malicor busy, Avalon circles and gets in close enough to drain the other Lantern's ring. Malicor is already weakened from the battle outside Earth's atmosphere, and so he doesn't have a full charge to begin with.
Henry grins, sending energy blasts to keep him off-balance, knocking him into Josh's blasts, while Avalon focuses on the draining.
But when Malicor notices what Avalon is doing and begins blasting at Avalon, Henry drops the offensive to protect Avalon with shields, trusting in Josh to take down the madman.
Not even bothering with dodging or defense, Josh takes any blasts that come his way. They're healed quickly anyway.
Seeing Malicor's new tactic, LifeForce growls. "I don't think so!" he yells, moving into the path of one of the blasts. Even as a wound opens on his chest, Josh swings the staff hard at Malicor's face.
Avalon's eyes grow wide when Malicor shoots a beam at him, and even though he pulls a shield up, it blasts right through his and is only stopped from critically injuring him thanks to Henry's quick work. Despite the darkness spreading from his left shoulder and down his arm, he doesn't even blink.
Josh's staff seems to be incredibly good against Malicor, for the man cries out in pain and rage and turns his attention on Josh. He fires wildly, trying to make him fall back but having little luck.
With Henry's shield, Avalon presses in close, his expression that age-old predatory one that Josh and Henry might recognize. The only difference is that he isn't playing with Malicor. Blue envelops the alien, leeching the remaining bit of his Yellow power.
"We'll see," Henry replies with a smirk. He leans to one of the other recruits. "I bet on the human."
Josh just grins. "You say that every time," he teases a little. The healer lets the struggle go on for a few moments longer before finishing the match the same as always.
Wog grouses his loss but shakes Josh's hand and grins at him anyways.
Avalon looks to Henry with a smile on his face, and then raises a brow as he says "We still have a lot of clean up to deal with.. The delegation from Starhaven said that they will keep an eye on things till we get back."
"We should get going, Wog," Henry offers, shaking his massive hand. "But it's always good to see you."
Josh shakes Wog's hand again. "I'll be looking forward to the next match," he says, same as always.
"Where we headed? Back home?"
"Yea, my Dad is still in Earth's orbit, and I'd like to say goodbye before he takes off back home." replies Avalon with a grin to Josh. Rising up into the air by way of his blue aura, Ava offers a hand out to Josh as he says "Shall we then?"
"Let's go," Henry agrees, taking place just behind Avalon as they head up.
"Alright. Good to go," Josh replies as he takes Ava's hand.
Henry is in the kitchen, cooking breakfast before he heads off for work. As usual, he's making enough for everyone in the house. With Kat on her mission in Sector 673 for the last week, Henry's only making food for the guys, though he'd whip something else up if Kat gets back early.
He's missed being able to talk to her these last couple days. She's always been able to help him figure his own thoughts and feelings out.
He pours the batter into the waffle-iron and closes it, frustrated.

Coming out of the bathroom, Josh adjusts his tie and heads for the kitchen. He'll need to be heading to work too but he needs breakfast first too. The healer's been in a very down mood lately, more quiet and reserved than usual.
"Morning..." he greets softly.
Ava doesn't particularly plan to go downstairs. He's too busy fighting off another panic attack and finally flops back into bed and covers his head with the pillow. All the negativity in the house makes it hard for him to function.
Henry hasn't gotten dressed himself yet, still in his boxers, as he closes the waffle iron.
"Morning, Josh," Henry replies. "Blueberry waffles this morning. Made the whipped cream fresh."
He goes to the fridge and pulls out a bowl of blueberry compote and another of whipped cream.
He hands them to Josh and goes to retrieve a plate for him. "Sleep well?" he asks.

Josh accepts the bowls and moves to sit with them. He looks up to where he senses Ava and sighs. "Not really," he admits honestly. "What about you?"
Henry shrugs. "Eh," he replies. He opens the iron and takes the fresh waffle out, a green construct carrying it on its plate to Josh's seat. He pours another one out, and leans back.
No, he hadn't slept well. He hadn't slept well in two nights, truth be told, and it was starting to show under his eyes.

Josh knows how Henry's slept, sensing it easily. He's just gotten a lot better about not mentioning every little thing he senses.
"Maybe you could call in sick to work..." he suggests softly, worried.
Just about that time, Ava feels compelled to try and get out of the house. Of course he knows that he can't just leave and so sits up in his room for a bit as Josh and Henry speak, fretting over what to do. Eventually he realizes that he's going to have to go down stairs and face the Breakfast Club if he hoped to be able to get out without hurting more feelings.
Dressed in a loose tshirt and a pair of jeans, Avalon grabs his dance bag and scrapes his fingers through his hair several times before he finally skews up enough courage to go and face Henry and his frustration and hurt.
He comes down the stairs quietly, looking a lot more confident than he feels. "Hey..." he says softly once he makes it into the kitchen. |
