Flash-forward to a possible future - Summer 2020

"Just shut up, Malicor," comes LifeForce's reply to the multi-ringed villain as he springs from where he's been standing and leaps to kick the villain down towards the ground while he's distracted with Henry's attack.
He's gotten bigger as well, more muscular. And with his age has come an advance in power. Having gone through much, he's become more linked to the life and his powers. He's stronger but the biggest rise in his physical abilities has been his speed. And he's not about to let a whole planet be destroyed on his watch.
At first, Avalon is standing next to Lifeforce. Then Henry has "come back from the dead" and gives him the opening he needs.
Spatial warping is almost second nature for him now, and he simply warps himself into where he needs to be, and then starts to let loose his Hope beam on Malicor.
Malicor is waiting for him though, so when Josh attacks, he is caught off guard. Malicor gives a surprised cry and falls to the ground for a moment, holding his face.
"How dare thee kick me!" he says, before settling Josh with a murderous gaze.
//Good thing to see you're still ticking, Green// Avalon directs to Henry through their rings as he moves to flank Malicor and keep him from getting out of a certain radius. He certainly doesn't fear for Josh - he knows Josh can handle himself.
Henry, also, has grown physically larger and toned in muscle. He grins, firing more blasts, keeping Malicor's attention on him.
//You think he could take me out, Blue? Really?//
"I've got your dad's ring, Malicor! I've still got your dad's ring! And it's sexy! You know what I've used this ring to do, man? Are you sure you still want it? You don't know where it's been..."
"GL! Now is not the time to bragging about our adventures in the bedroom," Josh half-yelps, face about as red as his mask for a moment. Some things never change.
Snapping back to the fight, Josh smirks a little. "Oh, c'mon Malicor...after what I did to you the last time we fought, you really gotta ask if I'd kick you?" he taunts a little.
Taking something off his belt, LifeForce extends the staff he's taken to using with a quick flick and leaps in to unleash a flurry of strikes to follow up Henry's blasts.
Henry keeps Malicor off balance, but it's Josh who really gives him a what-for with that staff. It's Josh's quick ork that keeps the Yellow Lantern down on the ground. He's so angry that he can't even respond to their taunts. He just growls as Josh knocks him several times with that staff fairly well.
//I was just worried that you might have been hurt, but then you promptly proved that you are just fine.// he sends to Henry.
As Josh and Henry keep Malicor busy, Avalon circles and gets in close enough to drain the other Lantern's ring. Malicor is already weakened from the battle outside Earth's atmosphere, and so he doesn't have a full charge to begin with.
Henry grins, sending energy blasts to keep him off-balance, knocking him into Josh's blasts, while Avalon focuses on the draining.
But when Malicor notices what Avalon is doing and begins blasting at Avalon, Henry drops the offensive to protect Avalon with shields, trusting in Josh to take down the madman.
Not even bothering with dodging or defense, Josh takes any blasts that come his way. They're healed quickly anyway.
Seeing Malicor's new tactic, LifeForce growls. "I don't think so!" he yells, moving into the path of one of the blasts. Even as a wound opens on his chest, Josh swings the staff hard at Malicor's face.
Avalon's eyes grow wide when Malicor shoots a beam at him, and even though he pulls a shield up, it blasts right through his and is only stopped from critically injuring him thanks to Henry's quick work. Despite the darkness spreading from his left shoulder and down his arm, he doesn't even blink.
Josh's staff seems to be incredibly good against Malicor, for the man cries out in pain and rage and turns his attention on Josh. He fires wildly, trying to make him fall back but having little luck.
With Henry's shield, Avalon presses in close, his expression that age-old predatory one that Josh and Henry might recognize. The only difference is that he isn't playing with Malicor. Blue envelops the alien, leeching the remaining bit of his Yellow power.
Once Malicor is drained of power, Henry knows he could blast Malicor right then and there. But he doesn't.
He turns to Josh. "I think, after what he did last time he was out here, you get this shot, Josh." He gestures to the powerless villain, even as he's starting to get to his feet again.
Josh holds firm, digging his staff into the ground a few times to keep from getting knocked back. Wounds heal almost as quickly as they open, giving a rather morbid show to anyone paying attention. Josh even seems to be welcoming the attacks, stalking forward through them.
When Avalon drains the last of the villain's multi-ringed power, Josh sends a hard kick to knock the villain back. He's left in pretty much nothing but boots, belt, staff, and 'shorts', the rest of his costume blasted away. He looks to his partners and nods.
"Been waiting for this," he says. Rearing back, Josh sends a hard spin-kick at Malicor with the aim of knocking him right out.
Still silent, Avalon finally presses his ringed hand to his left shoulder and frowns deeply as he wills himself to stand next to Henry. He's certainly not letting Malicor know how much it hurts, and besides, he will heal quickly enough even without Josh's help. He just watches as Josh effortlessly kicks Malicor's lights out, and then nods his head slowly.
Once Malicor has been dispatched and properly shackled, he let's his war face break a little and he gives Josh and Henry both a tight smile. "Guess we're off to Oa now?" He asks.
Henry makes a green construct costume for the shredded one that Josh had been wearing -- he'd like to spare his boyfriend the embarrassment.
He turns to Ava. "Sounds good. But you and I should probably play a quick game of 'Doctor' with our favorite healer first, Blue." He knows Ava's hurting more than he's letting on.
Nudging Malicor with a foot, Josh offers a smile to Henry as he's given a new costume. He then walks over to Avalon, gently moves the winged lantern's hand away from the wound so he can apply his healing power.
"I guess. Unless someone else wants to take the jerk in," he says as he heals.
Because of the nature of Lantern uniforms, there is no visible wound, though Josh can sense and feel it no doubt. Avalon's shoulder has been burned rather nastily, though it was already starting to heal thanks to his ring. Josh's abilities make Avalon's ring's limited cellular regeneration look like child's play.
"Well, it's really our responsibility to take him in." replies Avalon in a soft tone, one that only Josh and Henry are probably close enough to hear. It's not until Josh is finished with healing him that Avalon seems to relax a bit, and gives Josh a gentle smile of thanks.
"You coming, LifeForce?" Henry asks, removing the rings from Malicors fingers and smashing them with a ring construct. He moves to Josh's side to let the healer also help fix him up.
Josh smiles and pats Avalon's shoulder once he finishes healing it. The healer cringes as Henry smashes the rings, his own awareness of them heightened over the years as well as his odd connection. Shaking it off, he turns his attention to Henry and starts healing him all over. "Sure."
Avalon is just glad the rings are smashed and Malicor can't keep using them. Every new ring that asshole gets means another Lantern lost their life. After a while, you have to make yourself stop thinking about how many had been smashed over the years.
He waits till Henry's go, and then uses his blue aura to envelop Josh, taking him along. Since Henry has Malicor, Ava seems content to make sure he gets their boyfriend.
A cage envelopes Malicor as they take to the sky, but Henry soon is by Josh's side, taking his hand as they fly. Josh has gotten better about space-travel over the years, but he's a far cry from comfortable out there in the black. He figures Blue can take his other hand while they go. Malicor, unconscious, floats behind them in his cell-construct.
Josh takes both the offered hands and then takes a deep breath. He doesn't like space. Atleast he's not in a state of near panic anymore.
Traveling has never been the same since Avalon came around. As soon as his and Josh's fingers touch, they're already almost all the way to Oa. Hopefully Josh and Henry have gotten used to that lurching jump by now - they've certainly done it enough.
Once nearing Oa airspace, Ava smirks a bit and glances over to Henry as he asks "You wanna take care of this and Josh and I can wait? Well.. unless.." he looks to Josh, "DO you want to see the planet surface?"
"You can see if Kilowog or Arisia are around," Henry suggests. "I won't be long."
He heads down towards the surface, bringing Malicor's cell with him. "See you guys in a bit?"
Joah closes his eyes a moment and then smirks. "Kilowog's around and hard at work by the sense of things. Arisa's not on planet," he adds. His senses have improved significantly.
He just nods in reply to Henry and glances to Ava.
Grinning to Henry, Ava nods his head and says "Sure thing, Green."
Looking to Josh, he gives the other man's hand a squeeze and asks "Wanna go see Wog? I bet he'll be happy to put me through my paces and give you some strife. Wanna go?"
"Sure," Josh remarks, going with Ava to see Kilowog and his recruits. The recruits got a quick lesson in working with a blue from Ava and Josh gets into another arm wrestling match with Kilowog like he usually does every time they're in the same room.
It's easy for the recruits to get overwhelmed with the aura of a Blue Lantern nearby. Thankfully, Avalon has started being a bit more present during bootcamps in the past few years, letting the White Circles get a taste of what it is like to fly with their cousin color. Not only does Avalon feel it's part of his unspoken duty to the Greens, but also, Avalon does it because he likes Kilowog and enjoys spending time (when he can) with the other alien.
Josh's wrestling match requires a second round though - Wog demands one after Josh wins - just like he always does. |
