this is going to be a weird answer so just... accept it.

chester IS more religious than honey. honey is still a teenager and she knows it aint hip to be religious and she's still learning who she is. however based on their personalities, honey is probably more willing to allow herself to explore religion's positive attributes, she loves people, she likes being a decent and moral person while chester is very a-typical of someone who has any kind of belief. they both see religion as something bigger than yourself. chester believes more on a personal and private level, understanding the implications of being out about it. in fact he almost enjoys the thought of religious persecution in hollywood for being a christian. like he finds some sick pride in it. honey is really into science right now and really into science over faith, i guess and never grew up with any kind of moral compass taught to her. she acquired it on her own through experience, whereas chester believes and sees things the way he does through example. he's kind of old school considering the male influences in his life, whereas honey recognizes that everyone is human and makes mistakes. she is more open to learning about religion on a broad level and chester is more like this is it, this is how i see it, this is where i am and will always be.

short story: chester has religious beliefs but doesn't practice and frequently feels ashamed due to his work, but doesn't believe he can outwardly express or explore them due to the persecution of christians he believes will happen in hollywood basically giving himself a copout.

honey has probably a more religious heart though doesn't see that as the answer because she is much more open to exploring beliefs and thoughts and herself right now and could wind up believing all sorts of things.
