i'm kinda like that too, so you're not alone! i prefer organic lines, but sometimes i'm not opposed to certain pre-planned scenarios, like exes who may or may not be over each other so if the chemistry is right, a romantic line could come out of it but if we/our characters don't click, there's no real harm done, or something like that. if it's a line like jumping into an established relationship or something where the characters are definitely supposed to be into each other, i basically can't function. i mean, i probably could, but i think a big part of a line's success depends on how well the characters click, and to me, that initial chase aspect of an organic romantic line is a great indicator of whether or not they do and you generally don't really get the same thing with a pre-planned line. they just seem like a bigger gamble to me because you never know about the characters' chemistry until they interact.

ahhh, yes! another person who gets it. i'm the exact same way when it comes to pre-planned established relationship lines when the two don't click, i shut down. i start to feel cramped creatively. i've always wondered if it were because i'm ADHD and maybe i could only live in storylines that weren't pre-planned because there's not as much of an element of surprise that would keep me interested, but it's really nice knowing people grapple with the same issues and some just can't survive in established relationship sls when they're pre-planned.
