the difference in the rules is this:

the original mod said anyone can join and update within 3 weeks. that made our game expand to over 200 members with a huge amount of dead weight. the second mods that we didn't know were in place (but now if you look back you can kinda figure it out) changed it so that you had to update within 9-13 days of joining (aka the second sunday after you've been added) in order to move on to the 3 week update rule. they allowed extensions on this from new members. the newest mods don't allow extensions on this rule.

not a lot of rules are being changed, other people just don't seem to pay attention.

a lot of new people die off with or without the option of getting an extension, it's not like the new mods are making any major changes.

i actually wish the mods didn't allow threads as updates. this isn't like a regular pb game where you only have a couple of options for update styles, it's faux celeb. and part of your job with your 'celeb' is keeping them relevant and part of the larger celebrity community. updating with threads makes you closed off and look like you don't care to be a part of the bigger picture

i don't mind them counting threads as updates, but the thread should have to be unlocked for everyone to see it. like back in the days when comms had threading communities. i mean, i know some people would just die before having their threads unlocked and i don't think all threads should be, but, i think they should if they're counting as an update. because then, it's kind of like updating with a narrative? maybe people can't actively participate in it, but at least they see what's going on with your character.

Unless you changed its configuration, your new server is configured as follows:

Configuration files can be found in /etc/lighttpd. Please read /etc/lighttpd/conf-available/README file.
The DocumentRoot, which is the directory under which all your HTML files should exist, is set to /var/www.
CGI scripts are looked for in /usr/lib/cgi-bin, which is where Debian packages will place their scripts. You can enable cgi module by using command "lighty-enable-mod cgi".
Log files are placed in /var/log/lighttpd, and will be rotated weekly. The frequency of rotation can be easily changed by editing /etc/logrotate.d/lighttpd.
The default directory index is index.html, meaning that requests for a directory /foo/bar/ will give the contents of the file /var/www/foo/bar/index.html if it exists (assuming that /var/www is your DocumentRoot).
You can enable user directories by using command "lighty-enable-mod userdir"
