Training (cont'd)

Good, this was turning into a more even competition with the girls getting the hang of it. The boys had good plans but with Annamarie's precision at this sort of prediction and Kitty getting more comfortable with phasing...now they were really challenging each other.

Perfect.

Because if they were this good against each other, put them all on the same team later and...she really had put together a class with excellent potential. A slightly smug, yet proud smile reached her lips as she watched the proceedings. Yes, she had done this well.

Emma sat back and just listened in, letting them go through with their plans without interruption right now.

Kurt had a list of worries with bamf-backfires that was longer than his tail, but he suspected warning Calvin would just jinx something. Okay, just cut the jumps back if you feel funny. He instead flicked his tail back and forth, looking like he was plotting something while Calvin took the first bamf. They'd leapfrog to distract, make the girls look all around.

He jumped to Kitty's side for a moment, a left feint as it were, before immediately appearing to the other arm to tap her shoulder.

	Yeeeep, real confused now. The sudden double jump threw off Kitty's concentration, and she's decidedly solid when Kurt latched on to her. Unfortunately, the surprise made her yelp, and then she reached out, grabbing on to Kurt. Her footing slipped, and she began to fall, pulling him with her... Instantly the general air of 'queen looking over the rest of the board' disappeared, Emma was on her feet and in strict teacher mode. When her mind voice rang out to them, there was a distinct authority and No Questions aspect to the tone.

Calvin, Stop. Kitty, stay calm, do Not let go of Kurt, I'm pulling you out.

That was all the warning and orders she allowed herself time for, no more were needed. She reached out to Kitty's mind, taking control and making the girl regain herself and walk both her and Kurt back to the surface. Once there it was a simple manner of hitting that phasing switch in the girl's head to make her solidify.

Emma let go of Kitty's mind once both the students were safe and looked over all of them, gauging their moods and reactions. With some extra attention on Calvin's, that had been an aspect of telepathy none of them had seen yet, at least it wasn't one she'd shown them, and she was sure he was watching carefully and registering how wide-reaching her powers could be.

"Alright, we take a short break," she said out loud, still standing from her chair and projecting her voice to them all. She beckoned the ones on the board to come to where the chairs she and Annamarie were in were.

Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no. Kurt had looked around in surprise as the two were sinking into the ground, trying to decide what he should do and whether or not Kitty and his powers could work in tandem, or just be a big mistake to try. Then Kitty's expression was... a little off and she pushed them back out of the ground. Everyone was staring at each other and not talking on either level. Emma announced a break and to head in and Kurt leaned over to the brunette. "Thank you for the save. Are you okay after that?"

When told, Calvin stops. For a moment, he almost bulls through the moment to pull them out, or try... but so far, yeah, he'll listen to Emma.

When the two make their way back out, there's a few moments of quiet resentment. He doesn't usually care for a lot of authority, especially like that. What's more, its possible he could have saved them fine. It was a chance he could have been the hero.

All of that dissipates in barely a moment though, as a realization hits.

'I have mind control.'

Calvin grins, watching the others recovering. This is awesome.

Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod Kitty could barely think, having had no idea she could phase other people or things, and also thinking that this was probably going to be how she died and took Kurt with her.

But Ms. Frost's voice pierces through her panicked thoughts and takes control of her limbs. A revelation that will, when she is less likely to panic, give her quite a bit of pause.

"I'm..." she began to tell Kurt, "I'm..."

Her hands went to her mouth, before she abruptly turned away and hurled the contents of her stomach on the ground.

If Kurt doesn't come towards her chair fast enough, Annamarie will get up, dash over, and hug her brother, just to be sure. They may not have known each other long, but if how much he looked like Momma wasn't enough, having her Other Mother in her head sort of ensured that family ties and the visceral reactions that go with them would be solidified.

"Don't do that to me again."

And then Kitty was sick. Oh dear.

There's the clip clip of heels as Emma decides not to wait for them to come after all, there's too long a pause before those on the board start moving and Kitty is clearly reeling still, so Emma arrives. Her gaze is on Kitty, looking over to see the girl lose her lunch at this latest ordeal, but the mental thoughts that Emma projects are for Calvin alone. I told you when we first met. I have the power to deliver on my offers. It's more than just mind-reading darling. Far more.

She stops by Kitty, not in the splash zone though should Kitty hurl again, and bends at the knees slightly to lean down a bit and see how Kitty is. "We'll call this the end of training for today. I'd like us to discuss how things went today, overall, not just this end incident," Emma says to the group as she straightens back up. "Kitty darling, I think we'll all agree to limit the lunch lost today, so you're excused for the discussion if you don't feel up to it." Brisk nod at Kurt. "Be a dear and help her freshen up? We'll all meet in 10 inside."

When she sees Kitty stand back up and is sure everyone got the instructions, Emma turns and heads back to the building, already thinking through the new information here and what she should have them testing next.

	And Annamarie realizes that despite the skintight bodysuit, gloves, and scarf, she still does have her face really close to her brother right now, so she backs off. "Yeah, better let you do that," she mutters. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Looking up to smile over at his sister, he blinked to see her suddenly up close. "Tut mir leid," he apologized to the sudden fierce hug. It must have been scary for her, he hadn't had time to think too much about during the danger, so he pat her covered shoulder too.

Oof, tossing cookies was never fun, and Kurt grimaced in sympathy. When Emma tells him to go help Kitty, he gives his sister a wide grin to prove he's fine before leaving. "Be right back!"
