JSA Flashback.
Tess had invited all the JSA to the meeting this afternoon. Aside from personal announcements, they needed to get the practice in working together.

She'd also invited Jacob. He'd been getting back in touch, saying Hi, hanging around... it was time for him to explain what he wanted out of things.

Tess stood in her her usual workout clothes, and the jacket with 'Fair Play' on the back, in the training room.

	Jacob really didn't know what to make out of Tess' invitation. After years of self-isolation, Jacob was finally making an effort to renew old ties with his childhood friends. But something about this made him a little nervous. (Reply to this)(Thread)

Tess nods appreciatively. "Thanks, everyone."

Then she turned to Jacob. "Jacob, I wanted to talk to you, seriously. It's been great getting back in touch with you, having you around, but I want to formally extend membership as a Reserve Member of the JSA so you can properly train with us. I know you might not be entirely comfortable with that, all things considered, but trust me, being a superpowered civilian is sometimes a lot more dangerous. You should be ready to use what you have," she speaks earnestly.

I know, Jacob," Tess says quietly, "And I'm not going to send you into the field against your will, but you can't hold up one incident as the worst that can happen. If some opponent of your father's, or one of their kids, decides to track down you and your family, are you going to be better able to protect them trained, or untrained? And Mark's got a good point. You can't hide from everything, and if you don't know how to handle yourself in a dangerous situation, you could do more harm to yourself or bystanders than to the threat."

	"Damn it! Don't you understand!? I don't want to be a superhero!" Jacob said standing up. "Dad goes on and on about Al Pratt's legacy, a guy I'll never know. I want to work on cars, be a mechanic. "Whoa, whoa, whoa... ok. So don't be a super hero. As part of the most tight-knit family in super-herodom... enough that there isn't any concern about all using the same name... first of all, they're not mutually exclusive.

More to the point though... we could use a mechanic. And we could use someone to help with training. And when you have a family... it wouldn't hurt for you to be able to protect them from villains who do care about Al Pratt's legacy, even if you don't, right?

No one would make you go into the field, or wear your undies on the outside or anything... but we'd like to have you around... and give you a job, if you're willing?"

He takes a deep breath.

"You know how many years I've seen the image of my father screaming in my nightmares? I started talking to all you guys again because I felt like a douche avoiding you all for so long, but... It hasn't been peaceful, not really. Violence was simply replaced by paranoia."

Finally a light smile. "Okay, I'll give the reserve thing a try, but let's be honest..a guy like me has no business in spandex."
