Valentine
Valentine's Day is around the corner once again. There are little heart-bubbles floating around our Ministry department and every time someone goes to pop one you get three or so more. I wonder who the genius was who thought up that little trick?

Is it my fault that I think this is possibly the best holiday ever created by industry? Who cares if it's been commercialized till the point of near-nonrecognition. Celebrating the sanctity of love at least once a year helps the rest of the world manage to schlep through.

Now, if only Valentines lead to love which lead to marriage. When I can figure out that cosmic dilemma there will be hope for all the destitute bachelors out there. Until then, I'll be going home to my bottle and enjoying my bubble hearts in the lonely company of my own bed.

Surprisingly you would think I'm depressed this time of year. I'm in an unusually good mood as a matter of fact.

If you're actually happy about Valentine's Day, I think I'm going to have to forget I was ever friends with you.

Alecto, you know how I've always felt about Valentine's Day. Although if it makes you feel any better, this year I don't have any reason to feel this enamored by the whole thing.

Why so sour?

Besides the scores of disgustingly stalkerish teens that come into my shop every other second asking for love potions and the like? Really, Orpheus, I feel as if I have so much to look forward to until the 14th.

Ah, love potions were always the best part of this holiday. Particularly the illegal ones.

Do you remember brewing them in potions? 7th year I think it was, maybe 6th. It was a regular orgy.

I suggest making the love potions particularly strong and giving them a real scare. Spice things up a bit at the school. It's been too long since we were there.

I remember quite vividly the lesson on Amortentia. That was an absolutely lovely little stir-up. All the arguments and chaos that erupted were simply a pleasure to watch.

But still, it's hardly worth my effort if I don't get to see such a plan come into fruition. For the time being, I'll continue brewing completely ineffective potions and marking them up to outrageous prices.

So how are you fairing? And honestly the bubbles might become a menace but I'll certainly send some if you and John need to liven things up a bit.

I'm wonderful. Don't tell John that, of course, but it's wonderful.

And do send the bubbles, I like having some sort of annoying ammo for John to come home to.

Why wouldn't you want John to know that you're happy? Women in love are radiant.

Although the idea of you having ammo against him does amuse me so of course I'll assist in the shenanigan.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe he'll want to make things not so wonderful and stir up some trouble. Trying not to jinx it, I suppose.

And how long do these last?

Fair enough I suppose?. I'll never understand the way they think

Till midnight on Valentines. Then they all fizzle and die. It will be very traumatic.
