Minato <3 II

The doctor, who probably thought it was in Minato’s best interest not to lay too many devastating facts on Minato who was so recently just recovering, told him who he was, but left off the fact that he hadn’t been alone in the car. And his family, when he was returned to them, made no attempts to rectify the error, nor did they mention their preemptive declaration of his death.

His lover and his child were buried in the fractured remains of memories. And all the doctors could tell him about his memory was that it ‘might be jogged someday’.

Starting life over with nothing, he went out into the work world looking for something to fill some void that he couldn’t identify. He was quickly learning all over again that his parents and relatives were not very good people, and he wanted to get out of their lives. And he found the perfect way to do that. He joined the police force. And he loved it.

He made everlasting friendships in those adrenaline filled moments where one’s life is never a certainty, and for a while it was enough. He learned a lot from one of his more veteran partners who was kind enough to take him under his wing and teach him everything he knew. And Minato learned quickly. And he was good. He became known around the station as ‘the yellow flash’, because once he was called onto a scene, it never lasted long.

He threw himself so entirely into his job that he quickly climbed up the ranks until he was chief of police. Rank really mattered little to Minato, but he accepted each raise with minor conceit, and a sense of duty. But the further up the pay scale he got, the less ‘dirty work’ he was actually doing. He spent most of his days behind his desk, doing paper work, and he hated it. It was important work, he knew that, but he didn’t feel like he was doing his part for his community.

This lingering feeling that he wasn’t doing all he could mixed the feelings he got every time he saw a young teen in trouble or he saw someone with a baby ( which made his heart hurt), he decided maybe he had a soft spot for kids. But he couldn’t bring himself to date, no woman held enough interest for him, so he knew he wouldn’t have any kids of his own. So he began to work at a local youth center during his time off.

And that’s how he lived his life for the next several years. Constantly involving himself in the community, and throwing himself into his work, helped keep the ache away. He attempted to date, but they never lasted very long.

It wasn’t until one night when two brave boys brought in a porno to watch in the movie room, that things changed. Minato heard the snickers, the hushed whispers, noticed that the door to the movie room was closed and dark, and knew something was going on. He stepped into the room and glanced at the television. Moans, groans, and naked bodies. He snatched up the remote to stop the movie, but he hit the pause button instead, and he found himself staring at a young blond haired, blue eyed actor. And something clicked. Call it father intuition, call it fate, call it luck. Whatever it was, Minato knew he knew this boy.

“Give me the box.” He had ordered, and the blushing boys quickly handed him the dvd case and scampered out of the room.

Naruto Uzumaki.

The brick wall blocking his memories suddenly came crashing down. He remembered his wife-to-be, the mother of his child, and his child. His child. But, he wasn’t about to rush. He went to his parents house, a place he hadn’t stepped into for almost fifteen years (and would never step into again), and demanded to know what they were keeping from him. And that’s when he learned he did have a girlfriend, who was killed, and he had a child who had been given up to an orphanage.

He was furious, and devastated. If they had just held the kid for six months, he could have been a father. If they had just told him he had a child when he came out of his coma, he could have…

But ‘could haves’ weren’t going to change anything.

And with the help of his coworkers at the police station, he gained some background information on his son. How ironic, he spent his life keeping the community children from going to prison, and sent others there on a weekly basis, and that’s where his son was.
But as extensive as their background search was, they couldn’t find any current work history. He only had the dvd case to go by, and the company that produced it, Feel Good, Inc..

So he requested a leave of absence. He knew enough boys in prison to know that their distrust of cops ran deep, and he doubted his boy would be any different. So he doubted the best way to introduce himself as his long last dad dressed in uniform. Besides, he had plenty of vacation time saved up, he never had a purpose to take any before.

Several different scenarios crossed his mind of how to properly introduce himself. But there was no reason for Naruto to believe he had come back from the dead, and if he was happy he wouldn’t ruin that for him. So he went to Feel Good with the intentions of getting a job where he could look over his son quietly.

He thought about being a security guard, he definitely knew how to be a cop after all, but they were far too busy to sit quietly in the corners or move about without anyone noticing. He also wouldn’t have minded working as a camera man, or as a director, he did have an eye for images, but neither were inconspicuous enough, and meeting his son naked on a set was not how any father should have to meet his long-lost child. But there was an opening to a janitor, and while it was less than glorious, it was fitting.

He just hoped that the HR, or whoever was responsible for his hiring, wouldn’t question his new chosen career with having such a rather decorative background, and he hoped even more, that that background would remain a secret for awhile.

Personality, Likes & Dislikes: Minato is a humanitarian, showing kindness and sympathy to those in need. He’s fairly gentle and patient, but if the wrong buttons are pushed he can be just as assertive and impatient as any man, although this only happens if he feels he or someone he cares about is being threatened, and even then he’ll give someone warning. He only gives warnings once, however. If someone chooses not to listen to him, that’s their choice and he doesn’t hold himself responsible for the consequences of their actions.

He keeps this mentality even with people he cares about. He had a lot of guidance and advice to give, but he never imposes this upon anyone, and if he sees that someone can learn something from making a mistake, he’ll step back and let it happen. But he’ll always watch, ready to pull them out if they’re about to drown in the situation. He’s above ‘I told you so’, but he will take the humbling as an opportunity to offer advice if it’s appropriate, and while it comes out truthful, he’s never spiteful.

He’s active and persevering without being self-assertive, and expresses himself with reason, moderation and humor. He’s more likely to use sentences like “I think, maybe you should” rather that sentences that sound like demands.

He has a sense of humor, and can find something to smile about in most situations. He’s not a man of dark words and sad situations, and handles them as lightly as the situation deems. He’s never down for long and is rather resilient in difficult situations.

He has strong convictions, but he believes truth above all, and as forceful as his convictions may be they can change if evidence comes that persuades him that he was mistaken. He has the ability to see both sides of an agreement, and is unprejudiced and tolerant of other points of view. He understands that a background makes a person, and tries to understand other people before creating a solid opinion on someone.

Due to his slow-forming opinion of someone, he seems rather detached. He treats most people in the same soft manner, but it’s nothing more than that. For people he cares about, he’s a passionate person, willing to lay anything and everything on the line to save someone else, whether its career or even personal health.

Even though he has a very friendly personality, it’s actually rather hard for Minato to make friends. He won’t take the trouble to cultivate the acquaintance of people who do not particularly appeal to him. He doesn’t chase after people, so it’s up to others to pursue a friendship/relationship with him. He’ll hardly turn anyone down, however, who makes an effort.

Minato also has a bit of a quirk. He bends so easily to the current of things that his need for order happens in the form of OCD. His books are arranged in alphabetical order, from largest to smallest, everything on his desk has a particular spot, and he’s fidgety when something is out place and until he has the opportunity to right it again.

And due to the influence of his old partner, Jiraiya, and the constant perverted jokes from the children at the youth center, Minato has a bit of a pervert streak. He has no problem watching a cute woman bus tables over the top of his coffee cup, but he makes an effort not to do it obviously.

He likes honesty, kindness, helping people, bright colors, people who compliment his eyes, cat naps, and straight-forwardness. He likes orange soda and sweets, but doesn’t indulge often. Pizza, all types, he’s not a picky guy. He likes Ninja Turtles, cus he thinks Splinter is an awesome mentor.

He dislikes people who disregard other people’s feelings. He doesn’t like the color black, or most vegetables. He hates Shredder.

Sample Post:

First Person Greetings to all the employees of Feel Good Inc.. I’m Minato Namikaze and I am the new head of janitorial staff. I heard the old one got tired of cleaning up after you all. If you need help with anything please let me know. While I’m definitely here to clean up any messes and spills, I’m also pretty handy if anything is broken.

And some of the custodial staff have a few complaints that they wanted me to voice apparently they’re scared of someone around here, so please direct all abuse comments to me and not them.
-Trashcans are our friends, use them.
-Lube is difficult to clean up, so please be careful what you’re smearing it against.
-Cleaning “toys” isn’t in their job description.
-Pools are meant to hold water, that is all.
-Floor buffers are not meant to be a means of transportation.

I have a work cell phone in case I can’t be easily found [work phone number here] and I hope you’ll all write it down somewhere so you can call me when needed. I also have a walkie-talkie, but since I don’t see anyone but the janitorial and security staff with it, that won’t be very practical for most of you.

It’s not part of my job to make house calls, so let’s go ahead and avoid those type of phone calls, alright? But if there is an emergency at work, I’ll keep my work phone on.

I’m looking forward to working with you all.

Third Person This required alcohol. And that meant something. Minato was not a drinker. He had seen one too many comrades lose themselves in drink. It was an easy habit to get into. Especially after the things they dealt with on a daily basis. Unlike the television shows, they didn’t always show up in the nick of time, they didn’t always catch the bad guy, and sometimes even when they did, they were out walking the streets two weeks later. It definitely wasn’t a job for those who didn’t have nerves of steel.

But even through all that, Minato never picked up a drink. Tonight was different though. Tonight he was…staring at a porn box. Now, Minato wasn’t a prude, he had seen his fair share of naked bodies, on film and off, but this wasn’t about the porn. It was about the person in the porn.

Whatever god decided that Minato’s memories should resurface due to the moaning face of a blond-haired, blue-eyed porn star was indeed a cruel one.

He took a shot from the dust covered bottle of rum (it was mostly used for cooking purposes), and then eyed the cover of the movie.
Well, at least the kid had inherited his assets…
