1. A new girl just joined the Power-Ball team. She goes by PJ, but her full name would be Penelope. Penny is already occasionally the jealous type, and not the most sociable. Things continue as "normal" for the couple for a while, but Tyson, as team captain, spends a fair amount of time around the team... plus Jun-Li and Makiana, his friends from early in school. Penny is not pleased with these other girls in her boyfriend's life things.
2. Three factors compound problems: 1. Zero Hour runs into a couple major crises, people are injured, the trainee team gets pulled into action a couple times. This cuts into practice time. 2. When it was just conflicting with training, the punk band and social outlyer girlfriend thing was ok, but with Tyson having to divide school, Power-Ball (because its the one leisure activity his parents are ok with), and heroing, his parents and Zero Hour PR people quietly express some displeasure with the situation. 3. Those icky 'other girls' things still live.
3. After an argument that makes no sense whatsoever to anyone else, they break up. Tyson is frustrated and confused, Penny is just... angry Penny.
4. Tyson attends a number of team functions in the wake of the disasters. For appearances, he has icky "other girl creatures" on his arm. Penny builds a giant robot to hunt down her cheating ex-boyfriend, in a series of logical jumps that make sense in Penny-world, and determine who he's 'with' in his down time. The giant robot is hijacked by someone, and attempts to kill him. Before Tyson destroys it after a huge running battle, it manages to send one image back to Penny - of Tyson, alone in his room, quietly playing one of the songs she wrote.
5. They still don't make sense to anyone half the time, but they get back together, relationship stronger than ever before. He professes his love for her, she professes a commitment not to send more giant killer robots after him.
