In the garage
"I promise this won't hurt a bit," Robert Anthony Stark Barton said as he leaned over the quarter panel and under the hood. His hands worked as he talked. Talking to one of his girls was nothing new. He loved his cars and he loved working on them. His mother said he inherited it from Grandpa Tony and she was probably right. Some of his earliest memories were working on cars with Grandpa Tony.

"I'll make you feel good when I'm done," he continued as his hands worked on engine parts. "You'll be just fine, honey. You'll be purring like a kitten in no time."

"Parents are weird like that. When you think they'll react one way, they react in a different way." He shrugged. "If you ever need help working on her...." Bobby smiled.

“Sure you’re probably better than any mechanic I could find on my own,” Cian said though he did know a better one for helicopters but not bikes.

Bobby grinned. "I'm your man. I'm not happy unless I have something to work on. Genetics I guess. You'll just have to let me know what you name her." Every machine with wheels was a girl in his book.

“I know the feeling,” Cian said, “and I’m sure a name will come to me given time.”

"The name is important. Each machine has its own personality. It took me a few weeks to name Gwen here. Marla's name came pretty quickly." Marla was this pretty perky blonde he knew from an English class. She was fun.

“Very true, dad says the same thing about weapons,” Cian says with a nod.

"That's Grandma Tasha and Grandma Bobbi for me. They're the weapons people. I just name my girls."

“I think my entire family are weapons people or hand to hand combat experts with the only exception being step-grandpa Daimon.”

"Mine's more into the tech side. At least the Stark side. The Barton side is more weapons." He grinned. "It works. Nice balance."

“I like wide variety of training backgrounds I got with mine though and Grandma Marlene has some unbelievable connections through the museum she works at,” Cian said still marveling at how a woman almost seventy was still as active as she was.
