As for Neji, he was in his newly appointed student council office, sorting through paperwork for the upcoming term, entirely unassuming but unsurprised when his phone did ring.

The number, he realized as he checked, was unfamiliar, which only happened once in a blue moon, what with him memorizing any and all of his callers, be they friends, work-related or members of school staff. It was for that reason that he did not bother to keep a phone directory.

Oh, well, this was new. But why not.

He had the decency to turn away from his printed forms, light-colored eyes skimming his calendar without paying it any mind. Click.

"Moshi-moshi."

When he answered it almost startled her, as if she weren't really expecting him to pick up for her. She was so startled in fact that she forgot what he had been thinking to say.

"Niisan?" Hinata scolded herself for that. He was probably far to old to put up with her childish name for him anymore. "N-neji I... I hope I'm not bothering you."

She waited, anxious. The little voice in the back of her head telling her she had the wrong number and this person was going to just hang up on her. Or perhaps she had the right one and he was still going to hang up on her.

As he blinked, he lost focus on the calendar, instead recalling the very vivid image of his cousin. It took all of two seconds for him to reply and mask his surprise, distantly pleasant.

"Hinata-sama, good day." Contrary to her beliefs, he didn't mind the name. They did not have the most enviable of childhoods to look back on, but it had become a good thing, somewhere along the line. Towards her, he no longer held a grudge.

Now that he heard her voice, he became aware of how long it had been since their last conversation.

"No, you're not a bother at all. What can I do for you?"

There was a soft, relieved laugh. It was silly, she knew, but he still made her nervous. Especially when it's been so many months since she's spoken to him.

"I actually have some news for you and... a question or two."

It was very short notice at this point. She couldn't fault him if he was too busy to help her. He had his own life after all.

"I'm guessing that you didn't get my letter then."
