[for the past week, he has been trailing this guy, just watching him learning the routine. his work, where he lives, what he does in his free time, some of it was already known as passed on by Madara, now just getting the finer points of it. there wasn't much that this guy did for fun, quite an easy job.]

Mm. Hm. I understand. [hangs up his cell and puts it back into his pocket. looks like the watching is finished with the request coming through to strike. quietly watches for the man to come out of work, ready and waiting to follow.]

[feels good today, had a relatively nice day at work and a talk with the chief about a possible promotion if he keeps the good work up. has been trying extra hard ever since that day his brother was scolded by their boss, trying to pull all of the extra weight to prove that he and his brother are not only hard workers but they work great together. and it's been paying off. but even though he's happy, is feeling quite drained when he leaves work tonight, the fatigue finally piling up on him. is thinking about a nice bowl of microwaved noodles as he traverses the streets, yawning and one-tracking his mind on that noodle bowl.]

[casually walks behind just keeping a couple of steps between them, stopping occasionally to look around and study the street signs like he is lost. this guy is a cop after all. he would assume that he is smart enough to notice when he is being tracked. stops a couple of people passing by pretending to ask for directions, lets the distance between them pan out some more and then continues back on his way. after all, he is asking for directions in the place that is close to Tobirama's house.]

[had he been in a better state of mind, would have been more wary of his surroundings, especially since not that long ago his brother warned him of Madara, but it's easy to forget to be wary when time goes by and nothing happens. looks around before he steps into his apartment complex, but doesn't see anything out of sorts. stops at the community mailbox tins, just outside the main entrance, fishing around for his key and unlocking the one for his apartment, grabbing his mail and flipping through it.]

[if he was a typical mugger, this would have been the point he should have pulled the balaclava over his face before attacking. Itachi wasn't going to let him see that anyway, arm hooked around the throat from behind, forced the rest of the way through the door. the layout of the place wasn't explained beforehand, only the rough estimate from outside was known. the first thing he had to do was close that door, swinging him around face first into it, improvising with his head to click it shut.]

[junk mail, junk mail... credit card statement... nothing very interesting and is just about to turn around and duck into his room but there's a sudden force keeping him from even moving at all. doesn't have time to even call out for help or even in surprise, and follows the force around his neck, not wanting to be choked and is running on survival instinct. lets out a grunt of pain when he feels his head connect with the door, trying to be calm about this but his heart is thrumming inside his chest.]

M-Mugger? [manages to ask, but the situation alone isn't at all like a robbery, because... this guy knew his apartment, and the typical street robbery is a gun to the head and a "give me all your money." this is definitely different.] No... Madara...?

[doesn't answer, pats down with his free hand around his chest and waist searching for weapons, grabbing his gun for safe keeping. also, no finger prints will be grabbed from that.] Hn. [releases and steps back back, using his own gun against him, pressed into his back right where a bullet would go through his heart if he so much as made the slightest of wrong moves.] Hands against the door. [very low, very calm. if he was a mugger, he would have been sloppy. you guessed correctly mr cop. well, sort of.]
