It has come to my attention that a community on Scribbld is causing a lot of issue and I've actually suspended the account (but it's now unsuspended). Basically because we have no ToS people are pretty much free to write about and post about anything they want. Obviously that is a real issue but I've always said from day one, if you have to think twice about the content you're posting then don't post it at all. This continues to hold true and if you're submitting objectionable content, just don't. You'll probably end up getting banned or suspended.

I am not really sure what provokes people to post such mean and hateful content and as mentioned in a support ticket, I will definitely be closing this community in question if I get more complaints from users.

I personally think the community should be allowed to stay open but ONLY members of the community can participate in their little game. I believe that is what I will propose and if that rule is broken (via a user reporting it) I will close the community. I believe that is how I will handle it.

What I don't understand is why can't people just keep to themselves. Choose your friends wisely...

I will be speaking with a few other people today to get their opinions on the issue and from there we will decide on whether or not to keep the community open.

In other news....Keith came over last night and we hung out. I hooked him up with Aperture 2 and Cloverfield. makkintosshu also stopped over to drop off an Ethernet cable. we all hung out and chatted video games. As with every Tuesday night we'll be online playing Call of Duty 4 -- my gamertag is vtequine.

emilie made us a really good dinner last night, Shepards Pie. I loved it. Then we just hung out pretty much for the rest of the night.

I've also been working with Morgan and talking about a new project he's working on. More details to be revealed later :) it'll be neat though.

I finally got an S2 style I like except when I leave the comment page to be the style it looks horrid, I hate how none of the S2 stuff seems to indent or nest the comments. It's lame, but at least I like the layout...

I believe that's all I have to say for right now

This is moreso directed at the people who are telling you to monitor flamecup than you. Parts are clearly to you, but generally it's stating reasons why the aforementioned suggestion is silly.

I think it's a little ridiculous that people would suggest you making rules for

flamecup. Having them monitor who the flames and such are about is a lot harder than it may seem. If you've seen the community, you can see that some flames don't even have a specific username on them. At times you just see a picture of someone and "do not want", and I don't understand how you expect the mods to keep track of who is who, you know?

I do understand that this is your website and you run it, but the members pay. Many people have either donated or paid for different accounts, and I think that makes it as much their website as yours. It was all yours before you decided to accept other people's cash, do you understand? You saying, "THIS IS MY WEBSITE, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN YOU CAN LEAVE. I DON'T CARE ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH, IT'S MINE!" is completely uncalled for seeing as how multiple people have given you money to pay for the servers you're using right now.

flamecup is negative. It is full of drama, hurtful things, hateful insults. But most of the people who are flamed laugh it off. Most of the time, people realize that it is just the internet, and people are going to talk shit regardless of who you are and what you're a member of.

To offset this, we have

honorcup. I'd suggest that instead of making rules for a community that isn't yours (please don't throw the "THE WHOLE DAMN WEBSITE IS MINE!" thing out there as I've already addressed it), you state somewhere on the homepage that if you don't want to see hurtful things about yourself, you protect your journal (and maybe list a few ways to do so), and you stay away from communities that can be harmful to your self esteem.

If any of this came off as overly bitchy, I apologize. I sincerely hope I don't start even more drama because of it. I think it's great that you reviewed the opinions of your members and took their feelings into consideration. I also think that the main people who want flamecup gone are people who are butthurt about things that have been said about them, or people who are friends with people who are butthurt.

The flames directed at me usually don't bother me. The only two I've ever had an issue with were the ones to my mom (when she didn't do anything and isn't a member of the website) and the one making fun of me and bring up the rape issue. Those were just uncalled for and stupid.

Flamecup provides many lulz and amusements, though. If you can't handle it, then don't join. Simple as.
